Hi,

Here’s a new thread!

@Stravaig I saw the email from Brora. I am always excited to see the new season collections! Disappointed with Brora’s latest offerings, not a single thing I would buy. Usually get a couple of pieces fill price, then a larger sale shop.

off to look at Poetry.

Stravaig · 15/07/2025 23:43

@MsDastardley I thought the same about the Brora drop! Poetry has some lovely wintry things. (Will we even have a proper winter again?)

I’ve never had anything from Poetry, but agree they have some lovely things. Their cashmere looked nice and was a reasonable price (compared to Brora).

I live in the North West and last winter was really mild. It was never cold enough to get the chunky jumpers out!

Hi,

My last sale order has arrived.

I ordered the Kantha coat in ‘blues’, but Toast have sent me a pink/orange/black one instead. It’s blue on the collar and a sort of blue/green/cream on the inside.

I tried it inside out, but the way it’s been sewn along the seams means it’s not reversible- it just looks like I am wearing it wrongly. (DH actually laughed when I tried it.)

It also smells really awful. I know the material is recycled, but I do think Toast should wash these jackets before sending them out. It’s actually pretty gross 😿

I am quite disappointed. I don’t ‘mind’ the pink/orange/black combo but I wanted blue. I also think if a coat is marketed as fully reversible, then it should be.

Put it this way, if it was £20 on a market stall, I would probably take a chance on the awful smell coming out and it washing ok and make it work. As it is, it’s going straight back!

I also got the Raft skirt in orange stripe. I quite like this, but it’s too stiff and I think it would look/hang better if the elastic was all the way round rather than just halfway. I have no idea what I would wear with it.

Rather a disappointing sale for me, (but good for my wallet).

I just kept the oat/lapis long-sleeved tee and the Shoal kaftan in the end.

No news on a sample sale as yet, unfortunately. Though Toast have said it will go under Events on the web page like last time.

Well I was extremely disciplined and sent back most of my sale orders this time. I have a tendency to hang on to things and then not wear them. I kept 3 things in the end: the drift check shirt, the hemp dungarees and the indigo padded vest with the side ties.

I was going to keep a few other things but I decided in the end to send them back. 😇

ScottishMouse · 17/07/2025 21:09

Just got back from holidays to a broken toilet 😫 and a Toast parcel on my doorstep 🥳 It has three things inside it - the new wrap jacket, the navy waistcoat in a size up from my usual (that size would not close across the bust 🫣), and the lightweight linen dress in black coffee - but I am far too tired to try them tonight. I’m still off work tomorrow (highly recommend returning from holidays on a Thursday and taking the Friday off too!), so I will look forward to trying them in the morning.

ScottishMouse · 18/07/2025 15:19

Update on my post-holiday parcel…
The wrap jacket is a keeper in my normal Toast size. I could probably also have gone down a size but then it might not have fitted so well over layers. It’s a lovely light jacket and looks good open or buttoned. I wish it had some clever side pockets in the seams, but it is otherwise a great piece.
The cotton linen waistcoat is also a keeper in a size up from my usual. It was far too small across the bust in my usual size, but that won’t necessarily be a problem for everyone. It is maybe a touch too roomy to wear on its own, but I can perhaps make it work with the right bra.
The linen dress is lovely, apart from the sleeves, which are not at all flattering on me. The length of them is not good, and turned up they stick out weirdly.

Primrosespaw · 18/07/2025 19:04

I have just bought the new pinky novesta pumps and the green linen workwear, boat neck top. Neither colour is as vibrant as on screen. The top us going back as the green is too dull. A real pet peeve with toast is their inaccurate colour depictions on line.

I totally agree about the colour accuracy issue. I bought the red/orange clogs in the sale and they are completely orange in real life. They are lovely, and I kept them, but I would have preferred the colour that was depicted onscreen.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 19/07/2025 15:05

I decided to return my second try of the Olive Franca sale dress. The shoulders still seemed lumpy and I prefer some of the dresses from the new drop.

Trying to decide between the blue or cumin shirt dress, or maybe the black pepper linen dress, or perhaps the workwear tunic dress 🤔 .

ScottishMouse · 19/07/2025 16:56

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I love that new black pepper linen dress. I tried it a few weeks ago in store and I thought it too long and straight as I’m only 5’2”, but I saw someone not much taller than me wearing it on the street and it looked great (though she was much thinner than me so might have had a very small size which might be shorter). I have ordered it to try again (perhaps I could take it up), alongside the navy linen shirt dress that has been on the website since spring. I’d really like a linen dress in case the warm weather returns, but it’s got to have sleeves.

MsDastardley · 19/07/2025 17:13

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I am biased as I have got it, but the cumin dress is just lovely. I think it looks pretty true to the colour on website. I think someone said the blue was more muted than in photos

@Primrosespaw how did you find the Novesta pumps? Was thinking about ordering a pair for my daughter. She’s vegan, finding decent footwear is difficult.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 19/07/2025 17:32

@ScottishMouse That's interesting, I was thinking the black pepper dress would be very long on me. I would need a medium I think.

@MsDastardley I would normally buy blue, but I’m wondering about trying the cumin as I’ve got quite a few blue dresses.

Primrosespaw · 19/07/2025 17:51

@MsDastardley they are much more muted than on the site and darker in colour. I wore them to school yesterday and I have to say that they hurt by the end if the day. I was doing a lot of clearing out and organizing so on feet a lot but I have not had a problem with other trainers or pumps that I wear to work. The rubber at the front really dug in to my little toes. Too late to return now they have been worn once. I am hoping they mould to my feet a bit more. It might just take a break in period. I have got shoes like pottery daps, which are vegan. They were comfortable immediately out of the box.

ScottishMouse · 19/07/2025 17:55

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I also love the floral dress. I have seen it in store and I would definitely chose the cumin personally, I think the contrast of the colours is great on it.
I have ordered the black pepper linen dress in medium. It should arrive Monday, so I will give it a good go with different shoes/cardis/jackets and report back. I still think it would need to be taken up to look right on my height, but if it is otherwise great, I am not against that as I can do it myself so it wouldn’t be extra cost.

MsDastardley · 19/07/2025 17:56

@Primrosespaw thanks for that. I won’t bother. If they’re not comfortable out of the box they won’t get worn.

@MsDastardley

Hi there. Also considering this dress. Size wise, did you get your regular size or did you size down. I have read in the reviews that it is quite a relaxed fit. Thanks :)

hattymattie · 19/07/2025 20:42

Hello Toasties - am I right in thinking if I take an online order to a store I will be reimbursed immediately rather than sending it through the post and awaiting processing?

ScottishMouse · 19/07/2025 21:06

That’s right @hattymattie.

hattymattie · 19/07/2025 21:37

Thank you Scottish Mouse - so I don’t need to print off any forms - my order number on my package will be sufficient?

ScottishMouse · 19/07/2025 21:42

Yep @hattymattie, that should be all you need.

MsDastardley · 19/07/2025 22:20

@neveradullmoment99 Hi, I sized down. It’s quite a relaxed fit.

neveradullmoment99 · 19/07/2025 22:44

@MsDastardley Thank you so much. That is very helpful :)

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 20/07/2025 11:31

I’ve ordered the cumin shirt dress. I might order the black pepper dress once I’ve got my refund for the franca.
