Is this haircut dated?

I‘ve just come out of the hairdressers. This isn’t me, but my hair looks exactly the same (just a bit darker).

I like how it looks from the front, but not the back/side.

Make me feel better about it?

It’s lovely.

Allseeingallknowing · 04/06/2025 15:31

No, it’s timeless elegant and classic.

manicpixieschemegirl · 04/06/2025 15:51

It’s a bit 2007 but I think yours should look better if it’s dark.

Short term - maybe make it slightly tousled/textured if you want it to look more current. Long term - avoid going that short and rounded at the back.

Piptoodle · 04/06/2025 16:42

Thanks all. Will try a more tousled look. My hair was all one length and starting to go a bit triangular. I have very thick hair. I asked for layers at the bottom to thin it out and to take the volume out. Had no time to get it shortened at the front, had to pick my daughter up.

Lovely

Nannyfannybanny · 04/06/2025 16:45

It's fabulous and I'm jealous.

Catandsquirrel · 04/06/2025 16:48

It's a classic bob from the back and side. The front longer bits are not dated, I think they're a nod to the 90s Posh bob which is being revived so you're actually ahead of the curve. I really like it sleek but worth experimenting with a bit tously too

Hatty65 · 04/06/2025 16:49

I don't think a bob can be dated. It's been pretty popular for the last 100 years.

JustMyView13 · 04/06/2025 17:17

I love a graduated bob!
I only got rid of mine during Covid when I couldn’t get it cut back in. I fell into the messy bun trap 🤣

Profpudding · 04/06/2025 17:32

That’s very 2004
I had mine in a similar style for a friend’s wedding, which makes it stick in my mind

AllAroundMyGarden · 04/06/2025 17:35

It’s lovely. I don’t get it done anymore because of the need to get it trimmed more often than an even, longer bob

Piptoodle · 04/06/2025 17:38

I‘m feeling better about it now 😊 DH just came home and said it is nice and much better than before.

I‘m hoping once I‘ve slept on it it will be a bit flatter at the back and not so rounded.

It’s gorgeous and I am stealing the picture to share with my hairdresser tomorrow.
As someone else’s mentioned, bobs are having a moment so you are on trend. 1990s and mid-2000 era bobs were more extreme and high at the back.

PeapodMcgee · 04/06/2025 17:46

Stacked bob. I prefer a blunt bob with an undercut in the back to reduce volume, for thick hair

cinnamongirl123 · 05/06/2025 17:50

I love it OP!

sidebirds · 05/06/2025 17:59

a timeless classic 👌🏾

FoodAppropriation · 05/06/2025 17:59

Hair is more about the way it looks on your face than anything else.

Your clothes can look dated, your hair is fine.

SirStanley · 05/06/2025 18:03

Bloody lovely 🥰 If my hair would do that I’d have it - not dated - I have a really short crop, I have wavy, wiry hair which would never do this 😀 and have been blonde, dark - natural colour is auburn so also that (obvs) who cares - looks great. If it suits you go with it 😀

Irritatediron · 05/06/2025 18:11

I'd be interested to know the age of everyone commenting either side of the argument. I'm in my early 20s, no one I know within a 5 year age range would have this hair cut due to the negative associations around the sexist "karen" archetype unfortunately. A few of my friends mums (mid- late 40s) have had this cut and liked it.

fetchacloth · 05/06/2025 18:17

I think it looks great.
I have a similar style but wish my hair was naturally straight enough for it to look that good.

Yes similar here. I have very thick hair and usually have a blunt bob with invisible layers underneath. I think this is a bit dated but after a few weeks you could get the length evened out? Can also style it in a bit more of a tousled way.

I’m mid 30s and I think it’s a bit dated but not awful.

thischarmimgwoman · 05/06/2025 18:36

Beautiful and classic

Ratisshortforratthew · 05/06/2025 18:38

Mid 30s and it looks dated and Karen-ish to me but that’s also because of the highlights (which I’m guessing you don’t have as you said yours is darker)

LittleSoo · 05/06/2025 18:45

I'm mid 30s and think it looks a bit like a Karen cut so I personally wouldn't go for this. If yours is darker though without the chunky highlights it probably looks nicer than the picture
