Can't believe the repeats are the same and not the absolu versions. If my car was to get through its MOT unscathed, I would consider something like this. But no way with the repeats. And I can understand them putting the more popular scents in but I'd want ti try some new or different ones too.

Agree the repeats are a bit strange. I love Byredo and don't have most of the scents in it so I would really love this but not for £650.

IDontHateRainbows · 13/09/2025 18:30

Byredo are noticeably absent from the main advent calendars this year, maybe they felt they overdid it last year. But yeah £650 is crazy im hoping some of these work their way on to selling sites. Id be keen to get a small mo ghost absolu, but probably not the original.

Beginning to think Byredo only want to be associated with very rich customers!

I'm also a bit put off by the fact all the mini perfumes will be dabbers. If it was half the price I'd probably overlook that!

IDontHateRainbows · 13/09/2025 21:43

It was a sad day when byredo stopped the grand discovery kit with the £150 towards a full bottle included. Id happily have bought one more recently if they still did this but they have replaced it with the smaller kits of 6 samples and £45 towards the fb

Increasingly falling out of love with byredo as its becoming out of reach financially although I've been able to pick up some decent size samples from sample/ decant sites.

They tend to stop and bring back that offer. The small set offer is always on, the big set on and off

IDontHateRainbows · 14/09/2025 08:29

Flowerbomb Tiger Lily today which I had a sample of in a box recently. This one smells like a pina colada to my nose, one of my favourite drinks. It's probably more one you would want to wear on a hot summer night out. It's alright, nothing I'd be rushing to repurchase.

Also tried Merchant of venice queen of the night which I think @MiaN put me on to. It's a safrrony gourmandy one so perfect for my autumn nose!

Guerlain Vol de Nuit today since I'm going out for lunch!

RoseTeaLady · 14/09/2025 12:47

Fugazzi Vanilla Haze today. Tried this first in the summer and it was way too sweet. Today it’s a smoky vanilla and just right for cooler weather. V cosy. It’s supposed to have mandarin, but I’m not getting that.

It's so strange how different things can smell/feel in different seasons!

This appears to be available for people based in Europe only, but has a nice selection of fragrances in it

I never know what Europe means now I'm presuming you mean the bit we are no longer part of due to Brexit?

The weather here is so horrible that I’ve broken out By the Fireplace for the first time since February.

I have no business buying any perfume as I am supposed to be trying to reduce the stash ahead of opening the LF fragrance advent, but it’s raining and I’m bored so I’ve ordered some samples from Miller Harris.

MiaN · 14/09/2025 18:15

@IDontHateRainbows thanks for the info on Laura Mercier set, but I am in Ireland and many retailers don't deliver here, or would charge vat. I will keep an eye and hope to appear on the likes of Sephora as they will delivery and cover the vat.

I put the maison margiela set of 3 winter 10mls, fireplace jazz club and autumn vibes, in the attic with the winter clothes, back in April. I knew id appreciate getting it out when things turned autumnal and didn't want to get tempted before. Well, that day would have been today but its a 2 man job to get up there and Mr. Rainbows has done his back in, so it will need to wait til next weekend.

Meanwhile, shifted a few things on vinted this weekend and had a play with some others including ysl opium and paradoxe radical essence. Definitely feeling like autumnal scents now.

I’m going away early next month where it will still be around 30c so I’ve sorted through my 2ml vials for summery scents to take and use up. I’ve got so many 2mls that it’s getting ridiculous, they need thinning out.

I don't really get on with 2mls any more - anything under 4-5ml is a waste on me as if I like it I'll go through it in no time and if I don't then it's getting chucked. Also it doesn't feel like a proper perfume somehow (to me anyway).

Have been messing around with Bibbi Vanilla Factory, which has grown on me - yay finally a Bibbi I like. Still on the sickly side of sweet but there's something alluring about it. Have also been trying Olympea absolu which is quite a deep but sweet vanillary one. Got it in the LF frag calendar.

I just seem to acquire little samples, i sometimes use them up as room sprays but they need a good thinning out.

I’ve got Olympea from a previous AC, haven’t tried the absolu.

BDK rouge smoking extrait today which seems perfect for the moody weather. This is deeper and darker than the original rouge smoking which I also love.

On the topic of 2ml vials, how do people store theirs? At the moment mine are jumbled up in a glass jar, but I'd like them to be a bit more organised.

Yesterday I had a lucky dip from the jar and ended up with JHaG, Ode to Dullness - which suited the weather perfectly 🙂

I bought the byredo grand discovery set last year which has space for 24 vials so I kept that and replaced the empties.

I use clear plastic cosmetic storage drawers with a sloped top. The larger bottles of 7.5ml etc go in the drawers and the little ones stand up in the upright bits, grouped mainly by brand. The bigger upright sections have full sized bottles.

I’ve attached a pic of the containers, it may take a while to be approved.

Scent of the day part Four - the friendly perfumistas still perfuming!

SOT Evening - herrera good girl blush which I wasn't so keen on at first but have got in to.
Seriously contemplating the herrera 12 days calendar although probably not until later in the season

I've worn Ganymede today, I think it's a bit spicy so it's perfect for feeling cosy on a stormy, autumnal day like today 😊
