Some new very expensive Byredo perfumes at Harrods. Seems to be a special Extrait range. £310

I always wonder who can afford to drop £300 on a new perfume... although I'm sure if I add up everything I have spent lately it would be a lot more than £300!

Sorry if it was you Ova, I didn't mean that you were annoying! Glad you got the full refund. Maybe its just the luck of which customer service rep you get?

No it wasn't me. I resisted the temptation to buy for once. 😄

Dries van notes chamomile satin is absolutely lovely. Vanilla and lavender. From the selfridges box

The appropriately titled Autumn Vibes today. This is quite a polarising one according to reviews with some people getting a 'leaf mulch' smell - luckily I'm not one of them and I do quite like it. Its one of the better Maison Margiela's in my opinion.

SOTD is Discotheque’s Lola at Coat Check. It was initially quite strong but it’s settled down into a more gentle warmth

I love the name of that - can you describe the smell?

Bibbi Vanilla Factory - was in the liberty men's calendar which suprised me as it's not a particularly manly scent. Very sweet on initial spray - hoping it dies down a bit as it's coming across a bit 'teenager' on first impressions. Not sure Factory is a great name to be honest, conjures up images of a vat of stinking over sweet vanilla being bottled. I wanted to try this one as I'd spritzed it in the perfume lounge back in June and liked it, but there were no small bottle options then.

It's a sweet and fruity vanilla without much depth.

I’m not great at the descriptions but it was quite a strong woody smell to start but it softened quickly into sweeter but still quite warm. I can’t smell it on myself now.

I got the discovery set the other day, they are all inspired by nightclubs. I’ve added a photo of the little booklet but it will probably take a while to upload.

Scent of the day part Four - the friendly perfumistas still perfuming!

Fragrantica says:

"Lola At Coat Check by Discothèque is an evocative scent that captures the essence of a secretive and intimate nightlife experience. With top notes of baies roses, cardamom, and grapefruit, the fragrance opens with a spicy and citrusy accord. The heart reveals a sweet and floral blend of white chocolate, jasmine, lily, orris, and caramel. The base is grounded with warm and woody notes of sandalwood, cedarwood, amber, and vetiver."

It sounds lovely - how much was the set?

Vanilla Factory has grown on me a bit - there's something in it I'm quite fond of despite it not being my usual vanilla. I must be crap at working out the scent profile /notes as fragrantica is showing it very different to how I imagined. No fruit, lots of spice. I still think it's mega sweet but that's not necessarily a problem. Haven't got on with many Bibbis before, this is one of the better ones .

Also in the men's calendar is radio bombay (roll on) which I know I like , liberty tudor again not a bad one, escentric molecules 01 which is a boring one for me so I'll sell it, and morning chess which I'm not sure I'll like being citrussy and leathery according to fragrantica - not usually my scene.

VB Portofiono AM and I just put tons of Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille for pre bed time. Has anyone tried any of her other perfumes? This is pure comfort for me, I really have grown to think of it as time to rest sign.

Tried the Ormonde Jayne Zafran from the selfridges set and I really don't like it. I love saffron as a note but this one is so dry and almost sour, I have had to list it as sprayed once on ebay and hope someone will take it.

Back on the good girl (original) today which is becoming my 'comfort scent' when I don't want to try anything more exotic or advturous. Although now we are going into Autumn I'm going to be getting back into smoky spicy and gourmand scents. Wishing Lush would do turmeric latte again - they'd be fools not to as it was so popular but it was limited edition last year.

SOTD is Carolina Herrera Fearless & Fabulous from the Luckycharms range, I’ve got a discovery set. I liked it when I first applied it but it’s gone now. I’m going to a gig later so I’ll probably try another of the Discotheque minis

MiaN · 13/09/2025 16:02

I am not so sure. They are 24 2ml of designer scents, it is very little for high price compared to Look Fantastic fragrance for example. I wouldn't be tempted myself

That's a crazy price for 2ml sizes. Hard no.

I have on spiky muse from the selfridges frag wardrobe, its a rose/ citrus so not my usual style but quite liking it. Some strawberry in there too. Reminds me of from.the garden by MM but not as patchouli heavy. The berries and rose soften the citrus zing, I don't like overly zingy perfumes.

That's two ex nihilo I have liked now the other being fleur narcotique

I know! Plus repeats of the same perfume? Super lazy curation. Possibly explains why they aren’t in other advents though?

Can't believe the repeats are the same and not the absolu versions. If my car was to get through its MOT unscathed, I would consider something like this. But no way with the repeats. And I can understand them putting the more popular scents in but I'd want ti try some new or different ones too.
