Question for the perfumistas - is the drydown of 'Tiger By Her Side' anything like 'Halfeti'? I tried CRA-YON's 'Continental' last week which I loved and it reminded me of 'Tiger'; and then read some reviews saying that 'Continental' was similar to 'Halfeti'. Very long winded, sorry!

paristotokyo · 24/08/2025 10:55

Hmm I don’t think TBHS is like halfeti at all. Except they’re both that oriental spicy type of fragrance? I’ll have to do a sniff test for you later @potplantsinparadise

potplantsinparadise · 24/08/2025 11:19

@paristotokyo Thank-you! 'Oriental spicy' might just be the vibe that I like - in which case, are there any others in that family that folks recommend? Nothing too beast-like please :)

CorneliaStreet · 24/08/2025 11:53

I was in JL yesterday and tried Margiela Afternoon Delight. I usually like the Replica perfumes but really didn’t like that one. I think it’s the lactonic note, which sometimes smells a bit sharp / off to me.

Also tried Diptyque Philosykos. Wasn’t that keen on the initial spray but the dry down was lovely. Also has a lactonic note according to Fragrantica, but I liked it here.

Not sure my sense of smell was operating that well though as had just spent half an hour in Lush while DD was choosing bath bombs, so my nose had probably shut down in protest!

OvaHere · 24/08/2025 12:41

Trying 7 Virtues Coconut Skin 2ml sample. The sprayer on this is abysmal, more intermittent squirt than spray so I think I may have put too much on.

Initial thoughts is that it's very SDJ esqe. More body spray than perfume. Very sweet with a slight chemically undertone. After the initial coconut hit it settles into something a bit citrusy that starts to give the kitchen cleaner vibe I really dislike.

Don't think I'm going to be a fan of this one.

paristotokyo · 24/08/2025 12:43

@potplantsinparadisesorry, just realised I sold on TBHS when I did a massive clear out as I just wasn’t wearing it and something was off putting about it. A little screechy for me. Have you tried halfeti? Can’t tell by your previous message. If not, then you’d perhaps like it. I definitely preferred it over tiger

MiaN · 24/08/2025 12:51

Deptique Eau de Rose today - I really enjoy this one

potplantsinparadise · 24/08/2025 18:38

@paristotokyo Haven't tried Halfeti yet so was curious about how it triangulated with the others! Quite liked Tiger but like most of the other ones in that line, found it a bit of a blunt tool.

MiaN · 25/08/2025 18:38

I gave my niece few - including Roja form last year's Harrods. She loved the packaging and shiny glass bottle! As well as Tocca Stella - perfectly fine but I don't need it. I guess it is very enjoyable to gift something you won't use, particularly to someone who shows the appreciation

Thameen Green Pearl sample for me today. It's gorgeous. I don't plan to buy full bottle but I have few samples and fully plan to enjoy them. I will do Capri in bottle Kayali before bed time, I quiet enjoyed this in the summer. I have 10ml, won't be purchasing bottle but love the travel.

MiaN · 25/08/2025 19:27

Also my fall/winter perfumes are so much better curated. I don't manage to do as well with spring summer.

OvaHere · 25/08/2025 22:37

Wore Merit Retro today. Haven't worn this one in a while. I just have a 10ml of it but do really like it the more I wear it. It's another that could be on the repurchase list eventually.

IDontHateRainbows · 26/08/2025 12:22

Back from my trip away, good to give the skin a rest as I didn't wear much perfume. I came back with a bit of a cold so not smelling as well as usual. Unusually for me, I was craving a rose scent this morning and I'm not usually a rose person - maybe the cold has temporarily changed my tastes? So I've gone for Byredo Rose of No Mans Land which is yummy.

Harrods AC due to land today- any minute in fact - will try to pace myself and only open one max 2 per day!

I've been lurking on the thread after purchasing the Liberty Scent with Love kit and love reading about everyone's SOTD. I'm keen to try some cherry based scents now.

Today I've given Bibbi Swimming Pool a try and actually dont mind it, it seems to smell, quite fresh and warm on me. I dont have the nose to accurately sniff out the individual notes (yet), but I'm lookingforward to working on that.

My Liberty Advent calendar also arrived today and I can’t wait to try Sparkling Jo and Vanilla Powder. I tend to veer towards musk and vanilla scents.

paristotokyo · 26/08/2025 14:35

Went to choose a fragrance today and noticed Veronique Gabai noire de mai had leaked into its little pouch and the vial was completely empty which was sad, as I quite liked it for date nights. A dark type of rose scent. It was only a 10ml and it came in a cute gold pouch. I possibly got it as part of a Liberty edit. I’ve been very boring these last few weeks and it’s either been EA green tea or wulong cha for me. So nothing to write about but enjoying reading this thread

IDontHateRainbows · 26/08/2025 18:03

Opened my liberty AC and there are some decent scents in there, zephyrine, ex nihilo blue talisman and the wild card of the bunch, granado esplendor. Never liked granado before but this is an ambery floral ad right up my street. Quite sweet but not sickly.

Haven't opened the harrods yet, too busy playing with liberty

I sniffed some Granado in one of the London dept stores earlier this year. Not many grabbed me but that was one that I did like.

IDontHateRainbows · 27/08/2025 07:05

Tried sparkling Jo by Vilhelm as im intrigued by this brand but only really rated dear polly before. It's unusual but I like it. Citrus meets spice with a heavy dose of champagne.

Unwell at the moment with stomach flu so my smell senses are not the same as usual, so anything I like now i may hate when I recover and vice versa.

Changed my mind about the granado on the dry down but will test again when better as everything has the potential to make me feel sick right now.

Zoetrope1 · 27/08/2025 07:30

Feel better soon @IDontHateRainbows I tried Sparkling Jo a few months ago. I really wanted to love it but the champagne note didn’t agree with me.

Sampled bal d’frique absolu today. Sweeter and more syrupy than the original which is fresher and brighter. I prefer the OG.

IDontHateRainbows · 27/08/2025 17:58

Opened the harrods AC which softened the blow of being ill.

Enjoying Ganymede which I've wanted to try for ages. I'm getting citrus and spices. I think it has saffron which is one of my favorites.

Loads of 50ml-ers in there which makes it amazing value. Will pace myself opening these but so far so good.

I really like Ganymede too 😍 I've started watching some that are up for sale on ebay, I'm hoping to someone will send me an offer and I can get another bottle for a tenner 🤞 I've bought another bottle of the BDK gris Charnel as I like that one too.

I've also just bought one of the perfumes that someone was selling from the Liberty calendar, it's a blind purchase though, hopefully I like it 😬

Granado Esplendor, it sounds like it'll be lovely for autumn / winter 😊

MrsBnow12 · 27/08/2025 22:26

I also bought a Granado off Vinted, it arrived today and a definite favourite and one for the autumn/winter as prefer vanilla in those seasons.
