@paristotokyo I was quite interested in that one but loads of the reviews say it barely lasts 5 mins. It's bound to start appearing in edits/gwp in 5 or 10mls at some point I think.

I had a sample of Penhaligons new one, The Cut, delivered today. Sprayed it on the card and I think it might be a bit sweet for me but will try it properly tomorrow.
It's described as "A new fashionable fougère tailored to precision. First, a stitch of mint is threaded to fir balsam, expertly sewn with cypress and cedar. Clary sage swaggers down Savile Row to a round of lavender applause."

Look Fantastic fragrance looks good to me. I think the disappointed of harrods and space nk last year put me off being too brave this year - I didn't keep anything from either

So I didn't really loose anything on the advent bit didn't find any loves. The two I kept are largely unloved. I am happy with my choice not to order Harrods this year and love that I tried once, and I was able to sell enough to cover the cost. I understand its popularity

It was fine I guess but will trust my initil assessment this time and won't buy as quickly. Diptyque bottle of the perfume would have been better buy. 2023 was better for me with good few loves that I have repurchased

Interesting video on perfume collection stages. My stage 5 is very different to hers!

I moved those two in the bathroom for repurpose. I just don't care for them enough to use - when I have perfumes I enjoy what are the chances I will reach out to some that I find just ok. I have not reached to either since I got them. They are not bad, just not as enjoyable for me as most of the other perfumes I own. I feel bigger clearout coming up again

After two days of trying The Cut, I won't bother buying it. It's too sweet and heavy to be a proper fougere to my mind, not a patch on English Fern. Oud isn't mentioned but I wouldn't be surprised to find it's there. But then, if you look at where most Penhaligons shops are these days, I suppose it's hardly surprising they're tailoring their new releases more to the Arabian nose.

I've bought the Harrods fragrance calendar and smelt most of them yesterday (didn't smell rude oud, Immortals or Valaya however I've smelt Valaya before and know I like it). I love them all except Nishane. My mum likes that though so I'll probably gift it to her if I can't get used to it.

I've taken out 4 perfume samples I acquired recently to try in the next few days.

Prada Paradoxe Radical
Valentino Born in Roma
The 7 Virtues Candied Lychee
The 7 Virtues Coconut Sun

First try is Prada. First impressions is that it's very sweet, more so than the original. Very candy on first spray but as it's drying down I'm getting a floral note - maybe peony or similar. Reminds me of the sickly sweet perfumes DD loved as a teen. I don't hate it but not one I would buy.

Tbh after wanting the original Paradoxe last Xmas I don't really love that anymore. The more time I've spent exploring fragrance the more my tastes have changed.

Yesterday I wore MP Vanilla Powder. I do love that and it lasts most of the day. My friend got a sample of the new (hideously expensive) extrait which she thinks is even better. Interested to have a sniff of that but I'm unlikely to buy it unless they start doing it in the travel size bottles.

I love the Nishane and the ADP, although I’m not so keen on Queen of the Night.

I’ve yet to try a Bibbi that I like. I sprayed some Swimming Pool on a hankie yesterday then asked DH to smell it and tell me what he thought it was. He said it was medicinal. That one is destined to be a bathroom spray.

Prada Infusion de Rhubarbe. I really enjoyed this, similar vibe to Florist Ellis Brooklyn and few other spring perfumes I like. I have not felt like anything fall like yet but I have pumpkin spice candle in one of the rooms. I don't want the good weather to end!

I can still smell Prada Paradoxe Radical quite strongly this morning so I'll give it points for longevity. It's quite nice many hours later but those first few hours are too heavy on the sweet candy side.

I can't imagine how strong the extrait is as normal VP is beast mode!

I reckon the sample services will do a travel size though?

I have a mini of prada paradoxe radical on order. I've become fond of original paradoxe, at first I was meh.
Away from home but been reliably informed by DH that liberty AC has arrived, some scents in there. No news or sign of Harrods!

@IDontHateRainbows My friend must have used one of those sample services to get the extrait so yes.

My Harrods calendar arrived on Thursday. I still haven't opened the box. Above friend has already opened hers so think I will go round and sniff them all first. The very masculine ones will probably be gifted or sold.

Anyone who loves vanilla powder but not the price tag, zara do an immortale vanilla which is a decent dupe. Not as strong or long lasting but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I'm very fussy on dupes especially after experiencing the original but this one passes muster.

Going to contact harrods when back home as they took my money but no news of despatch. Poor show when others have had theirs.

SOTD Poeme de Sagano by Ella K. Citrusy and green with notes of grapefruit, yuzu, bamboo, mint and eucalyptus. It’s really beautiful, one of the nicest green fragrances I’ve sampled. But it is very fleeting.

I’m giving Portrait of a Lady another go today. It’s so strong that I only sprayed a tiny amount. I think I overdid it at first try.
