I’m 27, and see my peers wearing things like this all the time, but I also feel like they’re not quite right 😂

I’m over 50 and have a pair - purple suede and I love them! Comfy.

Glad I chose them.

Im getting the double buckle Mary Janes from Dr Martin next!

PiggyPlumPie · 28/05/2025 20:18

My 26 yo old DD has just bought a pair as she wanted some "Dad" trainers.

I like them and they're comfy, apparently.

Baublebonkers · 28/05/2025 20:26

Definitely no from me, far too chunky.

Yerto · 28/05/2025 20:41

I have got a pair and they are sooo comfy! A few of the 30 something mum's in the office have them too. Don't know if that's good or bad haha.

Yellowstickerstalker · 28/05/2025 20:42

I’ve got these which I think are a good comfy compromise, obviously don’t wear for exercise though. They may not be available though as can only find them in kids sizes

canyouseemyhousefromhere · 28/05/2025 21:35

Not my taste, but each to their own.
what are you planning to wear them with?

Southern1964 · 28/05/2025 22:26

Love them! Love the brown too! Very on trend and age appropriate x

If you’re doing a sport then yes, if you’re going shopping or just walking around then no.

Ignore this comment OP.

They’re absolutely fine for shopping/walking around/daily activities.

Ive got 2 pairs of new balance, some NB 530’s for the gym and the NB 327’s for everyday errands. They’re the comfiest shoes I own.

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 28/05/2025 23:17

No me because they remind me of the sort of trainers my mum bought be for secondary school when this wasn't cool! But I'm ten years older than you. I think they do look cute with the way they are styled now if you are young and beautiful!

survivechuckleshowaffection · 28/05/2025 09:32

My DIL wears these and she's 23. They are fashionable but to me they look like the ones my DH wore in the early 90's, but i guess everything comes round eventually!

Yep, blokes shies in the 90's. Ugly as FUCK to ME, but if you like them...

thismummyslife · 28/05/2025 23:25

New balance are good shoes but no with those awful socks though ha ha

Flyswats · 29/05/2025 00:41

These shoes are for three demographics only

  1. little girls
  2. old ladies
  3. supermodels
SemperIdem · 29/05/2025 00:48

I absolutely hate NB, would rather go barefoot than wear them. They’re so incredibly ugly.

They’ve been trending for the better part of 10 years now, my hatred has endured out of my 20’s and well into my 30’s.

When I was a child, they were “embarrassing dad trainers”. The price hike and influencer uptake has done nothing to talk me round.

Kittyfleur · 29/05/2025 01:15

They remind me of the trainers you’d find in the middle aisle of Lidl or Aldi.

CareerChange24 · 29/05/2025 02:19

Corknut · 28/05/2025 10:22

I would say they are on the way out, I’m wearing mine less and less so probably wouldn’t invest now

What are on there way in?

NoVibrato · 28/05/2025 13:28

I know I'm in the minority here. But I just think they look like boats!

I agree. They're the ugliest pair of shoes I've seen in a very long time.

Onitsuka Tiger trainers I reckon are about to be rediscovered as the next big thing (again).

new balance 327s are definitely out btw and have been for some time.

Mainly jeans or gym leggings when I get properly pregnant to be honest 😂 I love my linen trousers but I don’t think I’ll find any maternity ones

I think New Bslsnxe shoes look very “clunky” ie huge. But I know they’re very popular.
Don’t get them in this colour scheme though, the brown is horrible.

I think this is true, dh, dd and I all bought some recently in Japan and I now keep seeing people in them! DD informs me that skinny trainers are now in rather than big clumpy ones.

I’m really on the fence about them, I need a good pair of “mum” shoes but also don’t want to look like I’m wearing my nan’s shoes!

what the heck are "mum shoes" ??

WombForTwo · 29/05/2025 08:53

KakulasSister · 29/05/2025 08:52

Shows I can just run about in that are supportive (because I’m pregnant) but comfy and let me still do stuff with my 7 year old, while looking nice!

DancingNotDrowning · 29/05/2025 09:00

Their whole vibe is being simultaneously super desirable and super dull. They ran a whole ad campaign on it.

my 14 year old wears them and they are much coveted in her friend group, but to the point above models are styling them with mum jeans and blazers and dads with shorts and sports tops.

What's the opposite of a "mum shoe" then?

I don’t know why you’ve latched onto this - in my mind it’s something uncomfortable, unsupportive, not practical. Like heels. That’s not my “mum shoe” aka something I wear while I’m being “mum”, it’s something I’d wear at work or dinner
