I’m 27, and see my peers wearing things like this all the time, but I also feel like they’re not quite right 😂

@WombForTwo , they look like proper running shoes from 2003.

MsTamborineMan · 28/05/2025 11:19

They're both very in fashion shoes. I like them both, if your someone who needs something very comfy I'd go with the new balances

I thought that was the fashion! I’ve ordered them in the hopes that they’re comfy and can be broken in before I’m hugely pregnant. I’m also looking at some other trainers, Birkenstocks and basically anything to get my shoes up to date!

If you like them, buy them.

If you're on the fence and are mainly thinking of getting them because they're fashionable right now then £100 seems like a lot, because in 6 months they'll be old news and the new fashionable trainers will look completely different.

If you like them and they're comfy at least you'll still wear them, if you're primarily buying them to look current then they won't look current for long.

TaggieO · 28/05/2025 11:30

I think if you’ve lived or worked anywhere popular with America tourists they’ll make you cringe with horror but for everyone else they are very on trend Grin

TaggieO · 28/05/2025 11:32

Adidas sambas are most definitely mum uniform but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. I have some Grin Not brown though, that’s dreadful. The point of those kinds of shoes is to inject a pop of colour.

Spambridge · 28/05/2025 11:34

@WombForTwo As they are running shoes, I'd order half a size up. Bear in mind that your feet might have grown during pregnancy and may or may not go back to what they were.

Fashion doesn't equal beauty or style. Smile

If you are getting birkenstocks, so for ones with buckles, as you can adjust them.

Docwillseeyounow · 28/05/2025 11:35

My two DDs aged 15 and 17 had these two years ago.

Don’t sambas tend to run quite narrow? I have wide feet so need to be careful!

Yes definitely buckles! I have a whole host of other things going on behind the scenes and don’t plan on working much beyond 20 weeks, so I plan to be feet up in slippers most days!😂

New Balance trainers are definitely very popular and seem to have been for a while now. Personally I prefer the adidas ones (but I have narrow feet).

Tbh I'm struggling more with the current frilly ankle sock trend for adult women (as seen in the NB picture)

Redlightbulb · 28/05/2025 11:43

They look like sports trainers but are also fashionable & practical.
The running / sports trainers tend to be the most comfortable due to the padding / foam on the sole
& New Balance make some pretty decent ones imo in different widths.
I have a similar pair myself.

notnowmrshudson · 28/05/2025 11:43

Very cute! Just make sure they are comfortable x

IwantmyReptv · 28/05/2025 11:43

I'm in my 50's and have them, forced purchase as I couldn't get the trainers I usually wear.

They're horrible to walk in or dash for a bus in, like bricks. Very much style over substance. Can't wait to wear them out and get rid of them.

TaupeRaven · 28/05/2025 11:45

Honestly OP, I was opening the link expecting to find some very edgy trainers! They're super vanilla (no shade - I have the white and silver ones) and they'll take on the look of whatever you pair them with, which sounds like exactly what you're looking for!

(Also, I got some gorgeous Hoff trainers from Oliver Bonas last week if you decide to go for the colourful variety of questionable taste trainers, I love them!!)

Spambridge · 28/05/2025 11:45

Sounds like a good idea.

I have these: Leather Side Detail Trainers | M&S Collection | M&S and they are very comfortable. They're NB copycats of the ones that lots of mums are wearing where I live. (I'm not fashionable)

These ones run slightly large, and you shouldn't need to go up half a size.

Mix56 · 28/05/2025 11:46

Nope

SmokyWood · 28/05/2025 11:51

I think they're hideous and very Emporer's New Clothes ie people just think/say they like them because they're fashionable. But they are fashionable and I'm possibly not! So it depends what's important to you - I think there are nicer trainers out there that tick the boxes of comfy, cool and not for nans.

scruffy35 · 28/05/2025 12:02

I have some NB similar to those, I got them almost for a laugh to impress my adult sons… it worked 😂 However I’m super impressed, they were bliss from the moment I put them on. So maybe no more Skechers for me!

vinavine · 28/05/2025 12:02

You could go wild and buy bother OP, you can definitely afford it in light of your other post 😆

vinavine · 28/05/2025 12:02

both

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 28/05/2025 12:05

I think the NB ones some are very retro, ie, if you wore them the first time round then you shouldn't wear them second time round! The adidas ones are lovely - I wanted to buy some last week but they didn't have my size. They're more classic and go with everything.

Spambridge · 28/05/2025 12:05

@SmokyWood , why the not for nans?

Smallsalt · 28/05/2025 12:58

They look like running trainers but probably dont have the cushioning. For that money I would want full on technical shoes. I certainly dont wear my running shoes as a fashion item.
The adidas ones are nice.

NoVibrato · 28/05/2025 13:28

I know I'm in the minority here. But I just think they look like boats!
