What five things have you bought recently or been using/wearing lots that you really love?

Trilogy rose hip oil - been using it for about 4 months every night. It’s really lovely.

Kenzo Flower perfume- a proper blast from the past for me! I bought a Chloe one at the same time, but it doesn’t last at all, whereas I’m aware of the Kenzo for ages.

Cos heavy boxy T-shirts - it’s a bit too warm for them now, but I was wearing them on repeat for ages

Urban Decay green eyeliner and eyeshadow- I get loads of comments whenever I wear it

Marks and Spencer black ribbed tube dress - just a really useful basic

2 nobody’s child dresses
whistles shirt
2 pairs of jeans

Amazing! Link to the dresses? They have some lovely ones.

Large-ish gold hoop earrings from Etsy.
Birkenstock Bostons.
Slouchy suede bag from Little Lies.
Pair of Route One jeans pinched from DD.
Recently dug out the old MN faithful - Korea Italy towels - those then some L'Occitane almond shower oil make my skin feel lovely. (Apologies, that's one extra thing).

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/05/2025 08:32

I had to google that towel!

I've lost 5 stone and like the chosen two I'm rediscovering a love of clothes. I don't look 63 so I'm loving shopping.

Two very fine thread open work summer crochet cardigans that are in now one blue one pink. They cover my upper arms and look lovely rather than being "cardiganny"

A lovely white 70s style boho top covered in red and blue embroidery I found in a sale 10 years ago and never wore because I was too fat.

Soft pink blazer from M&S

PrimevalStomp · 05/05/2025 08:41

Only two of the items are new:

A navy ribbed knit polo shirt from Zara. Polo shirts have never suited me before, but this one is the perfect shape and colour and goes with pretty much everything I’m wearing through spring. I’d meant to buy another in a different colour but naturally they’ve completely disappeared from the website.

Frederic Malle’s Lipstick Rose perfume. This just is the smell of spring for me. Generally I’m happy working my way through boxes of samples, so this is one of the few perfumes I regularly buy full bottles of.

Two older things:

A brown cotton linen Margaret Howell skirt bought from Vestiaire about a year ago. I wasn’t entirely sure about the decidedly dirndl shape when it arrived, but lately I’ve been wearing it with the Zara top tucked in, and a belt and it all works.

Particularly with some brown, knee high Legres boots now nearly three years old. They seem made for that skirt but go beautifully with all my other skirts too, so I’m treasuring every day when the weather is still cool enough to wear them.

The fifth thing isn’t an item but an alterations service. I moved recently and had been mourning the loss of the excellent tailors I’ve previously relied on. Finally after months of dithering I ventured to the place that looked best online. The premises are a brisk cafe dotted walk from the city centre, overlooking a canal and opposite a vast green area of fields and river. I can see myself ‘needing’ countless alterations to new and old clothes from now on, just to have an excuse to hang out in such a glorious place.

Cyclingmummy1 · 05/05/2025 08:42

Skin oil

Tommy Hilfiger striped shirt.

Fun Rocketdog pumps that I bought in last summer's sale.

No coat (that been a novelty!)

The cloths that come with Liz Earle cleanser, but not the cleanser.

Ophy83 · 05/05/2025 09:02

(1) Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser spf30

Worn with (2) Charlotte Tilbury unreal skin sheer glow tint and/or (3) beauty light wand

(4) M&S blue and white stripe summer trousers

(5) A lightweight pale green cashmere jumper I got in the sale at Me&Em

DancingNotDrowning · 05/05/2025 09:10

M&S boot leg/front crease jeans - so flattering and comfortable

Victoria Beckham belt in olive green - just slightly different and subtly elevates outfits

Gucci floral cross body bag that I bought a few years ago and didn’t wear much, suddenly loving it

Rare beauty liquid blush - love it

Oura ring for tracking sleep and exercise, a bit obsessed with the data

Blingismything · 05/05/2025 09:16

M&S smart wide legged jeans, these are dark indigo with a crease on the front leg.
White M&S oversized linen shirt.
Plain white V neck t-shirts from Primark.
Birkenstock Arizona in brown.
CK One, I bought a new bottle for Summer.

Doggymummar · 05/05/2025 09:17

I've been to the car boot sale this morning and bought some vintage Cath Kidston and Laura Ashley dresses so feeling smug about that.

I have lost six stone now, and have a couple more to go. But finding my love for clothes again. I was stopped twice and complemented on my outfit today. A me and m jumper I bought for a pound from Whatnot and dyed navy. A yellow Betty Barclay top also from whatnot for £2 superdry yellow sliders and m and s navy striped linen trousers, so those are my new favourites.

elm26 · 05/05/2025 09:23

4 - Laneige sleeping lip mask
5 - Hermes Twilly perfume

DaphneduM · 05/05/2025 09:24

Marks and Spencer grey suede barrel leg trousers - an investment buy - I'm so pleased with them. They'll be a core item for my winter wardrobe, to be worn with leather, tweed and cashmere items. Bought a couple of weeks before their cyber attack!

Crew straight leg crop jeans - in off white. Quite loose, not too cropped and very flattering - incredibly versatile for the summer. I mainly wear them with silk blouses, cashmere cardigans or jumpers, leather belts and ballerina shoes.

Large Braccialini as new black and grey leather and suede handbag - absolutely stunning - to go with suede trousers above, also with many other black and grey items in my wardrobe. Bought from Vinted.

New with tags Max Mara extra large long cardigan - wool and silk. Again so useful and multi-purpose. Bought from Vinted.

My best, favourite buy from some time ago - as new Italian wool black/white herringbone double breasted long coat with leather trim. A replica of the Saint Laurent herringbone coat of a couple of winters ago. I wear it all the time in winter. A great staple of my wardrobe to wear without thinking too hard! Bought for under £20 on Vinted.

I have to say Vinted has been wonderful for me - it's enabled me to increase both the quality and range of my clothing, shoes, boots and bags. Things that would have cost hundreds bought new. I find it's important to mix these things with new stuff so you get a balanced, modern look.

DelphiniumBlue · 05/05/2025 09:36

What great idea for a thread!
I’m loving my wide leg Halara jeans, they are very comfortable but look a bit 70s retro.
Last years pale blue suede New Balance trainers and Birkenstock Chelsea boots are still looking good( I re dyed the boots to freshen them, am feeling smug about how well that worked) .
Shapermint bras ( I’ve got 3 different colours)
Trinny London eye pencil.

GrimDamnFanjo · 05/05/2025 09:48

A pair of M&S indigo flared jeans with crease in the middle - Vinted
Leather M&S blazer - Vinted

Eyeko eyebrow pencil in blonde. A replacement for Clinique & it's just as good & a lot cheaper.

Rose & Rose embroidered beaded shirt - beautifully made.

M&S lyocell pin tucked wide leg jeans. Look like jeans but feel like joggers.

Cristalle edp perfume. Worn for years every spring/summer.

Zara khaki cotton barrel leg trousers with an elasticated waist. Ok on me at 5 ft 3 which is a rarity.

ShaunaSadeki · 05/05/2025 10:34

Aesop Damascan Rose face oil
TU khaki barrel leg jeans
primark built in bra, cropped, ribbed vest: going to buy more today
Red, glittery wooden earrings, gift from a friend

No 5 should be UGG sandals but I think my feet are too wide for them and I have horrible blisters

LadyOfTheCanyon · 05/05/2025 10:39

Ooo this is a great idea for a thread!

skincare wise, The Ordinary Copper Peptide serum has replaced my Vitamin C serum which seemed to have lost its efficacy and my skin is glowing again.

A L’Oreal moisturiser which just seems to suit my skin - I’m using a richer one than I normally would and my skin really appreciates it. Mixed with some tanning drops, I’m using hardly any foundation these days

Kiko eyeshadow sticks have replaced almost all of my palettes - I just buff them in with a fluffy brush, use them to line as well and I’m done.

I’ve rediscovered a love of trainers ( just as we go into the warmer weather- bah!) and have bought some gorgeous denim and leopard print Nike Airs which make my daily walks an absolute pleasure

A brown and Navy Jaeger blouse I found in a charity shop for a few quid ( along with a brand new pair of Oliver Bonas sunglasses which I’d disregarded in the OB shop for being over £50- £12 in the chazzer!)

Could I ask which L’Oréal moisturiser you are using?

criminallyvulgar · 05/05/2025 11:19

Like a couple of others on this thread I have dropped nearly 5 stone and now wearing size 14 instead of size 20 so I have made a few new purchases.
A pair of straight leg Sienna jeans from Marks in dark denim which I am absolutely living in.
A pair of black linen cargo trousers, also Marks.
A navy Boden cotton blazer from Vinted
LOccitane Verveine perfume which was a little treat to myself because I adore the smell.
A skincare game changer - I got an online prescription for Finacea which has completely cleared up a bad rosacea flare up. Nothing else I've tried has ever worked like this.

olivelime · 05/05/2025 11:41

Love this thread!

Totally influenced by MN I've jumped on the tret train and that's made a world of difference to the texture of my skin.

Also trying out a milky oil cleanser from byoma, which I'm liking.

I bought a pair of cream cropped jeans from m&Co - not a place I'd usually shop but they do petite sizes - and surprisingly love them. Never been brave enough to wear light jeans before.

Some hobbs woven low heeled brown mules from vinted. Super comfy and versatile.

Not got it back from the tailors yet but have just taken in an old gingham dress to be turned into a skirt, which I known I'll get a lot more wear out of!

PrimevalStomp · 05/05/2025 11:45

Ohhhh - the dress into skirt thing is super clever! I really should have done that with my last Big Flouncy Frock mistake. Instead I gave the dress away. 🙄

I was feeling very nostalgic for the nineties, so got some green suede puma trainers from ebay. They are so comfortable, have walked miles in them, and they have scratched that nineties itch!

Also from ebay - some DM gladiator style sandals that are also so comfortable to walk in.

A pale, stone-washed Levis denim jacket from a charity shop for £12.

A black, strappy, stretchy cotton midi dress from Manners London.

And finally, a bra in the correct size after almost a decade of breastfeeding (four dc). What a difference the right size makes! Boobs look good again!
