Marine Collagen - THANK YOU! ♥️

MNetters are amazing, thank you!

Since giving birth to my last child almost thirty years ago, my hair just got thinner and finer. Menopause was the killer - it just got worse and worse…I could clearly see my scalp, particularly around my hairline and parting. Over the years, I’ve spent £££ on shampoos, conditioners, pills, serums…you name it.
At the beginning of the year, I saw a thread on here & marine collagen was recommended. I decided to give it a go, and at just over 3 months in, my hair is definitely thicker and the density is very noticeable. Good condition too.
THIS STUFF WORKS!
This is the one I purchased- I didn’t like it stirred in drinks, so I take it in the morning in porridge.
Thanks lovely people of MN for a brilliant recommendation!

Is the Dynamic Multi Collagen Matrix bovine or marine collagen @Electraboogaloo ?

I see such a big difference when I take collagen. So many of my autoimmune problems (joint/connective tissue) ease. My skin and hair and nails do get better too even though it's bovine. Mine are £15 for 90 capsules but often think of upgrading as surely if it's more expensive it's gonna be better quality.... right...? 😁

What one do you use @pearbottomjeans ?

Electraboogaloo · 08/05/2025 18:32

@deeahgwitch Hi! It’s bovine collagen. It contains Fortigel, Fortibone, Tendoforte and Verisol.

I started taking Vital Proteins but stopped because I found out it is owned by Nestle and for ethical reasons I try to boycott Nestle products.
I am in Australia so started ordering from a local company Vander Kraats, the marine collagen is good the bovine does not mix as well as the Vital Proteins did but it is still fine, and I prefer that to purchasing Nestle.
One scoop of each of these products is 10gm of collagen.
It is expensive and I noticed some of the products had other vitamins and only 4-7gm of Collagen. I take other supplements and wasn't looking for just a few grams.
The 'longevity bros' that take loads of supplements I have read take 20-30gms per day, too be honest with my other supplements I couldn't afford to take that amount!

Just wanted to answer on this point as I've been doing a lot of reading on collagen recently. Research shows that there is no additional benefit in increasing to 20g from 10g of collagen. I just use 1 scoop in my coffee now and there has been no difference. Obviously the tub lasts twice as long so it does make it more affordable

Globules · 10/05/2025 11:46

Hi @namechangealerttt 👋🏻

Sooooooo good to hear from a fellow Nestlé boycotter. I thought I was a dying breed. I've not knowingly had anything Nestlé for 30+ years.

Interestingly, my XH choosing to use Carnation condensed milk in a banofee pie was the final nail in the coffin of our 20 year marriage. I knew at that point he no longer cared about me. 5 years later, he still buys Rowntrees and KitKat Easter eggs for our kids. But that's a whole other thread!

Can anyone point me to a mixed bovine/marine ones please. Have osteoarthritis and just started taking MJ so think both would suit me to try out. Thanks.

XiCi · 10/05/2025 22:25

@wantmorenow I'm using this one from Amazon

I bought Zooki high strength collagen after reading this thread. They are like gels in sachets, I got blackcurrant and sour cherry. They are both pretty vile to be honest but I get them down like medicine! I did try mixing one with my yogurt one day which wasn’t too bad but prefer to get it out the way fast then follow with yummy orange chewable vit C tablet!
Got a 50% off offer but would be way too expensive normally. I got 120 days worth so we’ll see if there’s any change by the end!

A lot of brands make both, so you could buy 2 and alternate so you get benefits of both. That is what I do. To be honest I can't tell the difference which one I am taking, but I notice the difference when I don't take it all.

This is what I'm doing. I take 600mg of each daily.

I buggered up - I thought I was ordering marine but it was bovine. So much for not eating meat 🙄

At least I’m not strict about it in a lifestyle way, so I’ll power through and see how it goes.

So far I’ve had it mixed into porridge with added cinnamon to disguise any taste. My skin, nails and joints are all pretty awful. I’m taking magnesium and a zinc/vitamin C supplement as well - basically the approach of “anything anyone says will help and definitely can’t hurt.”

I had never thought myself as someone at all bothered by my appearance, but my horrible old skin after losing a lot of weight just depresses the hell out of me.

Hi @deeahgwitch Dynamic is the brand name. I get it from Supplement Hub.
Supplement Hub

Hi, this is extremely expensive. Why did you choose this one particularly? I’m curious if it’s much better than others?

Electraboogaloo · 12/05/2025 18:58

Hi @deeahgwitch I wanted one that has Fortibone as my main reason for buying was to help with osteoporosis and there are some good results in clinical trials with Fortibone. You can get that on its own, but thought I might as well tackle the skin and nails too! I did a bit of research online to find clinical trials for collagen for skin and nails and found that Verisol came out well for both. This was the only supplement I could find that contained Fortibone and Verisol. I wasn’t too worried about hair as mine is fairly thick anyway, so the fact that my hair is getting thicker too is a bonus! I can’t remember where I found the info on the trials, but I’m sure they will be easy enough to find.

Electraboogaloo · 12/05/2025 21:15

Whoops! Meant to tag @BarneyRonson in previous post!

Does anyone have any knowledge about Feel Pro collagen? They keep advertising to me on Instagram, as ‘identical to human collagen’ but vegan, so neither marine nor bovine. I’m interested but i don’t know if it’s any good.

DumpedByText · 12/05/2025 21:23

I'm using Ancient & Brave bovine collagen, it's powder and is dissolved in a coffee every morning.

Completely tasteless and my skin, hair and nails have improved a lot.

The Feel collagen tasted disgusting, I wasted a whole tub as I couldn't get it down. It was a powder that was lumpy, vile!

Hotandbothered222 · 12/05/2025 21:45

@DumpedByText oh right! Might not be the way to go then…

I take A&B too and dissolves very easily in coffee and tasteless. Look forward to seeing if it works

I'm also looking at collagen, mainly for joints, though it would be a bonus if it helped my skin hair and nails too. Just came across this from BBC Good Food:
