Does this wedding dress suit me?

I am going back to the bridal store to try this dress on again as I loved it the first time. What do you think of it?? I am worried it may be too much but I have tried plainer dresses before and I always feel very underwhelmed in them so I think I prefer a dress with more details. The dress is also ridiculously expensive which is another reason I am struggling to commit.
If there are any dresses either similar to this or that you think would suit me better, please let me know. Or if you think I should go for it, please give me the confidence to say yes to the dress!

Woman if you love it then you get it. You have the perfect figure for it. If when you put it on you feel a million dollars then it’s the dress for you

Preciousssssss · 05/04/2025 01:29

I’ll be honest - to me the top half is indistinguishable from underwear, so I find it quite puzzling that anyone would want to wear it to celebrate a legally binding ceremony. I’m not generally prudish and I expect clothes to be fashionable. 🤷‍♀️

The dress looks perfectly fine on you, just to my eyes unsuited for the event.

But I won’t be at your wedding, and you probably know how you want to appear to your family and friends!

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 05/04/2025 01:33

I agree. It looks as if you've put a skirt on top of a corset.

To answer your question, if you have to ask on here, the answer's "no"

SallyDraperGetInHere · 05/04/2025 01:34

I think you look lovely. The dress is a great fit.

Dox9 · 05/04/2025 01:37

I really love the skirt but I am not keen on the top. The shape is beautiful but the visible corset lines are a bit tacky imo. Could they line the top so it's not seethrough?

Shetlands · 05/04/2025 01:37

It doesn't look like an expensive dress to me - it's a corset with a tacky looking skirt. You have a great figure and would look great in anything!

Monty27 · 05/04/2025 01:38

If you feel beautiful in it then it's for you.
I think it's a bit Madonna with netting as the skirt.

TaggieO · 05/04/2025 01:41

You look amazing but the dress does look a bit cheap.

TheHerboriste · 05/04/2025 01:41

Not to be mean but it looks like underwear, not a dress. Save looks like this for the wedding night. Your guests don’t want the visual.

Whatever happened to actual frocks, with the boobs saved for private moments with the groom?!

HeddaGarbled · 05/04/2025 01:41

Agree with PPs: skirt’s nice, top isn’t.

I really, really don’t like strapless wedding dress tops. You think they look fine when you’re standing straight taking a selfie in the mirror. But look at any informal photos from a wedding where the bride is sitting down or dancing or in any position except standing straight and it’s all bulges and boobs and pinched bits.

sharkanado · 05/04/2025 01:42

I don't like the bodice and the neckline but it's what you love

Tbrh · 05/04/2025 01:45

You look great, it's not my taste but it's lovely. Agree with others it looks a bit too much like lingerie, but I don't think it's that bad as you don't have massive cleavage sticking out (which imo is tacky for a wedding)

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 05/04/2025 01:49

Apparently exposed corset rib wedding dresses are a thing.

surroundedbyid1ots · 05/04/2025 01:51

Agree with others- the top half isn’t the best.
something like this has similar vibes but a bit classier?

how much is your dress? Or what is your ideal budget?

crumblingschools · 05/04/2025 02:01

As others have said it looks like lingerie. Have you tried dresses with some colour in them if you want more detail

Preciousssssss · 05/04/2025 02:11

This actually shows more skin but is considerably more ‘appropriate’:

Vivienne Westwood gown

This is definitely not plain, but it’s gorgeously sophisticated:

You look lovely but I’m another one who doesn’t like the see through top. Depends if you want to look trendy or more classic.

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/04/2025 02:46

My 16 yo dd is into corsets. What I will say about this dress is it’s a good size too big for you or else it needs tightening a lot if it’s a corset back. These things should be skin tight and you can see it gaping at the side of your boobs. You also need to place your boobs into the cups as they are too low down. Do this then see what it looks like. It will probably look more like this once the right size. www.redcarpetready.co.uk/product/valentina-black-layered-ruffled-prom-dress/

I think it’s a lovely dress, a bit fantasy, prom dress like. But I imagine you’re young so why not?

They can be a thing and still be low-class.

Exactly. Very, very few people look good in a strapless gown.

Happyinarcon · 05/04/2025 03:19

The dress is fine, but as others have said it’s quite fashionable at the moment so your wedding photos will date. Nothing wrong with that but many people prefer classic styles for this reason

Wotoo · 05/04/2025 03:25

Thank you everyone for your responses. A few of you have addressed the exposed corset rib which I purposefully left out of my OP as I wanted to see other people's opinions on. The dress can be lined in 2 different linings. The one I have got on has a lining which makes it look like a skirt over a corset. In all other photos I have seen of the dress with the second lining the transition from corset to skirt is much less noticeable. I will definitely check tomorrow if they can also line the corset and see if that makes a difference with the visible ribs.

The dress is indeed a size too big but if I go with it they will be ordering the right size to my measurements and altering as necessary.

I love it although agree the transparent corset needs lining.

Kandalama · 05/04/2025 04:47

Hate the see through corset tops personally.
They are Especially inappropriate if the ceremony is in a church.

Other than that wedding dresses are very personal but I do like the fabric of the skirt !
