Does this wedding dress suit me?

Wotoo · 05/04/2025 01:09

I am going back to the bridal store to try this dress on again as I loved it the first time. What do you think of it?? I am worried it may be too much but I have tried plainer dresses before and I always feel very underwhelmed in them so I think I prefer a dress with more details. The dress is also ridiculously expensive which is another reason I am struggling to commit.
If there are any dresses either similar to this or that you think would suit me better, please let me know. Or if you think I should go for it, please give me the confidence to say yes to the dress!

The top half is awful and cheap looking and the bottom half looks dated but not in a cool vintage way.

WorriedRelative · 05/04/2025 10:06

I think the fact you are asking on here means it isn't the one so you should keep looking.

I like the skirt, but am not keen on the Madonna style bodice. It will be virtually impossible to get the fit of those cups right too.

I think the dress posted by @surroundedbyid1otsis much nicer and would probably suit you better too. Worth trying to find a stockist so you can try it.

StMarie4me · 05/04/2025 10:36

I dislike the bodice as it looks like something out of Ann Summers. Could make people feel very uncomfortable. I would start again.

MikeRafone · 05/04/2025 10:49

I love it, light, pretty and sets of your figure beautifully - and you're very trim/tones so can wear such a design

Pyjamatimenow · 05/04/2025 10:51

Not a fan of

Pyjamatimenow · 05/04/2025 10:52

not a fan of the top. It’s cheap looking anbd under wear like. Overall though the shape and everything is fine.

You’re a stunning bride but I don’t think that’s the dress for you. The line between bodice and skirt is too obvious and cuts you across the middle. I also think there are too many layers in the skirt, making the silhouette bigger across the hips than you need.

How about something like this, where the bodice and skirt fit together (to my eye) more harmoniously?

love this dress and OP wold look stunning in that

Saltedcarameltiramisucheesecake · 05/04/2025 11:07

Obviously this is all down to personal choice, but I think it's a bit too underwear looking and fussy, and I'd guess, uncomfortable to wear all day.
I wore a strapless dress, it was too tight to sit in tbh, and I remember feeling fidgety in it, having to make sure my girls weren't escaping!

If I chose today, I'd go for a sleeved satin dress, no boning or tight lacing. You have a lovely figure OP, but try on a few different styles.

I love the skirt but I'm not a fan of these corset type tops. They give a certain message I think but that's just me.

Just out of curiosity, what's the 'message'?

Birdseyetrifle · 05/04/2025 11:10

Bottom half is beautiful. I hate the underwear upper body look, find it a bit trashy.

wandawaves · 05/04/2025 11:11

surroundedbyid1ots · 05/04/2025 01:51

Agree with others- the top half isn’t the best.
something like this has similar vibes but a bit classier?

how much is your dress? Or what is your ideal budget?

Oooh i LOVE this! And very similar to your style OP.

Victorias Secret ad or stripper, frankly. A wedding is a serious occasion; best save the sexy lingerie for the privacy of the bedroom. Friends and family don’t need TMI.

This sounds much classier.

I love the bottom of it but not the top. I also think the colour is not flattering against your skin tone. You have a lovely figure so I think you can get nicer.

abricotine · 05/04/2025 11:23

Keep looking OP. You can find better!

Stickywhitelovepiss · 05/04/2025 11:38

If it were "the one", you wouldn't be asking randomers on the internet. Hold out for the one that you have to have, zero doubts!

A stripper! 😂Not sure what kind of strippers you're thinking of, but I would think this is more 'stripper' vibe? Hardly comparable to OP's dress?

This actually shows more skin but is considerably more ‘appropriate’:

Vivienne Westwood gown

This is definitely not plain, but it’s gorgeously sophisticated:

Clio Peppiatt strapless dress

That first one was awful from the back.

The second one is okay, but very plain in my opinion incredibly boring.

NewDogOwner · 05/04/2025 11:58

I'm sorry, but it looks really cheap and see through.

DressOrSkirt · 05/04/2025 12:05

I think it's a beautiful dress and suits you perfectly!

Pinkissmart · 05/04/2025 12:22

I'm not keen on corset style dresses, because often the top part is a bit too stiff/ unnatural.
This is really lovely though, and does suit you

Bignanna · 05/04/2025 13:34

I like sleeves on a wedding dress. I think with your lovely figure you could find something better

Completely agree. The proportions are off @Wotooso the waistline sits too high up & isn’t flattering. Nothing to do with your figure. If it’s v expensive I’m sure there are others that would give you the wow factor. I also don’t think the corset works but think lining it will make the whole thing look more blocky & unflattering. Sorry!

Think this or similar would really suit your figure.

Thank you for the suggestion. I already tried something similar to this with sleeves and it really didn't compliment me at all. The long sleeves were drowning me. So then I tried dresses with off the shoulder sleeves and even though I initially liked them, looking back at the photos I took, they made my upper body look quite wide. Hence why I was now looking at more strapless dresses.
