Does this wedding dress suit me?

I am going back to the bridal store to try this dress on again as I loved it the first time. What do you think of it?? I am worried it may be too much but I have tried plainer dresses before and I always feel very underwhelmed in them so I think I prefer a dress with more details. The dress is also ridiculously expensive which is another reason I am struggling to commit.
If there are any dresses either similar to this or that you think would suit me better, please let me know. Or if you think I should go for it, please give me the confidence to say yes to the dress!

@LivingLaVidaBabyShower
Thank you for the suggestions. The Sophia dress and the Florelle dress that @JessyCarr reccommended are the two I liked from wed2be but I haven't been able to go to one of their stores to try them on.

The style suits you but the frock isn't quite right. It looks a bit 'polyester'. Will you be able to wear it on a hot day in August and still feel comfortable? I know some people can wear manmade fibres without a problem but I'd be a bag of hot sweat. Just a thought.

I personally like the Vivienne Westwood frock that a pp posted. That would look beautiful and very classy on you. You have the bod for it!

OP has a lovely figure- that comment was rude!

LittleBigHead · 05/04/2025 15:12

Is the top lined? It looks like underwear, and it also looks too big for you.

The dress is not my taste at all, but if you like it, go for it!

I personally think the bodice part is a bit ‘racy’ for a wedding, I not a prude but I think I would get something that looked less like an underwear corset

Watermill · 05/04/2025 16:26

I agree with PP, the bottom of the dress is beautiful but the top part looks rather trashy.

BodyKeepingScore · 05/04/2025 16:40

I think the bottom half is lovely, but the top makes it look quite cheap unfortunately.

You have a great figure though and the shape of the dress itself suits you.

bridgetreilly · 05/04/2025 18:29

It is hard to tell without seeing the whole of you, but I think it suits you and if you love it, go for it. I agree about going for the less transparent lining. I would also want to check whether something with a sweetheart neckline might work better than the straight line. But I like the fancy flippy details and if you do too, then you’ll look great in it.

tastethestrongbow · 05/04/2025 18:32

I love the skirt but not the top so if there’s a lining which would conceal the corset then it would be beautiful.

Hello everyone, thank you so much for all of your responses (good and bad!), I did not expect such a huge response but all feedback has been very welcomed.

For everyone that has complimented me, thank you so much, I did not expect any compliments so they have given me so much confidence 💖

To address the comments about the bodice being too sheer and the boning - to be honest, that was something that was bothering me too! In all the photos of the dress online the boning is not that visible and I was wondering why it looked so obvious on me and resembled lingerie. I think the reason is that the skirt was lined in an ivory colour that made it look much whiter and distinguishely different from the top part of the dress which I think accentuated the sheerness and boning.

I went back and tried the dress on again and we have changed the lining to a warmer beige colour and have also lined the bodice. So now the transition from the bodice to the skirt is much softer and the corset boning is less visible. The sample is also a little big on me and the dress was not clipped in the photo I attached. When the lady clipped it at the back today, it looked so fab!

Sounds like a good compromise with the lining @Wotoo, have you got a pic of the new version? And, did you order it?

Barney16 · 05/04/2025 21:03

It's lovely. The skirt is lovelier than the top. But as you have said it can be lined, I would definitely go for more material in the top 🙂

You've got it wrong, that's definitely not me! I haven't seen those pictures either so not sure what you are referring to.

I think it’s one of the most beautiful dresses I’ve ever seen. You look gorgeous!

Preciousssssss · 05/04/2025 02:11

This actually shows more skin but is considerably more ‘appropriate’:

Vivienne Westwood gown

This is definitely not plain, but it’s gorgeously sophisticated:

Clio Peppiatt strapless dress

Ooh waah, love the VW gown!

endlesscraziness · 07/04/2025 21:30

The question was does it suit you & yes it does, you look beautiful. People are so mean on here! If you’re not sure then keep looking x

Ener · 07/04/2025 21:47

I don’t think the top is nice, it’s just okay.

ThisMellowCat · 09/10/2025 23:16

You will know the dress as soon as you put it on, you won’t need to ask!
I kept saying this to my daughter as we went shop to shop until we went in one and it fitted like a glove. We were all crying, she knew it was the one!
if you have to ask then it’s a no!
