Does this wedding dress suit me?

Wotoo · 05/04/2025 01:09

I am going back to the bridal store to try this dress on again as I loved it the first time. What do you think of it?? I am worried it may be too much but I have tried plainer dresses before and I always feel very underwhelmed in them so I think I prefer a dress with more details. The dress is also ridiculously expensive which is another reason I am struggling to commit.
If there are any dresses either similar to this or that you think would suit me better, please let me know. Or if you think I should go for it, please give me the confidence to say yes to the dress!

To answer your actual question you look fantastic in it.

Comment you didn’t ask for so feel free to ignore - I’m with others in not liking the visible corset ribs, and preferring wedding dresses with straps. But it’s not my wedding, if you love it go for it.

kdramaqueen · 05/04/2025 05:26

OP, the dress posted by @surroundedbyid1ots is a much better version of the look you like.
I think your dress looks like a skirt and top because the skirt is too full. surround's dress is better balanced and very classy looking.

AlphaApple · 05/04/2025 06:27

The visible corset thing is very in right now, lots of prom dresses are like that so whether or not you like it, it is likely to date badly.

It’s hard to comment on the dress because it is too big for you so it’s not doing you any favours in that photo. You have a great figure from the looks of it so should be able to rock all kinds of dresses.

For me. the fact that you are hesitating means that it’s not the dress for you. Many women say they knew it was “the one” as soon as they put it on.

Survivingnotthriving24 · 05/04/2025 06:44

I get exactly what you like about it, the detail on the full skirt is very pretty.

I think the problem you'll have with it is you have too big a bust for the boned corset, the bra part is too small for your boobs so it looks odd, you'd likely need to order several sizes bigger and it won't alter well. I'm also not personally a fan of the strapless look.

Wed2b have some very similar dresses, really reasonably priced plus more flattering necklines.

Have been married twice and both times I was absolutely certain when I put my dresses on. There were other strong contenders I liked that I had doubts about - and to me that's the reason to NOT wear them. When you see yourself in the mirror you should be blown away with no hesitation, you deserve that especially with an expensive dress. You've got a great figure and skin tone and will have no trouble finding something that makes you go 'YES'.

If this doesn't do that, I'd keep looking.

Fullcircle90 · 05/04/2025 06:47

You have a lovely figure and the dress fits you perfectly but the top half looks like lingerie to me - sorry. It looks cheap and tacky and you can do better on your wedding day x

Azureshores · 05/04/2025 06:52

I love it and think it's quite rock chick - like something Paula Yates or Sarah Stockbridge would've worn. It's quite Vivienne Westwood (I love the VW one posted).

I would say you need the right attitude to go with this dress though - are you very confident/a bit of a rebel OP? It needs someone who can pull it off and not feel self conscious in it as it's definitely rather saucy and indicative of "for husbands eyes only" underwear!

The fact you're posting on here though suggests you're not entirely convinced. You should know absolutely that your dress is "the one" imo.

pilates · 05/04/2025 06:53

Yes it does suit you but it doesn’t look expensive the opposite in fact. I’m sure there is something better out there for you.

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 05/04/2025 06:55

Agreed with @Preciousssssss

have you looked at somewhere like wed2b

https://www.wed2b.com/chloe
https://www.wed2b.com/sofie
https://www.wed2b.com/aimee
https://www.wed2b.com/remi

it’s significantly cheaper and I liked the quality of the dresses

you don’t LOVE this or you wouldn’t be posting here.

i couldn’t find one “I loved” and wasn’t dropping 5-10k on that.

my fave of all dresses I tried on was wed2b and even with a seamstress adding some sparkle it was well under £1k

What @Azureshores says. When you know it's right, you know

Preciousssssss · 05/04/2025 02:11

This actually shows more skin but is considerably more ‘appropriate’:

Vivienne Westwood gown

This is definitely not plain, but it’s gorgeously sophisticated:

Clio Peppiatt strapless dress

Those dresses are very matronly. Especially the second one. It's awful. If i went to a wedding and saw the bride come out in that id be so underwhelmed.

If she likes fashionable ballgowns with an exposed corset and a detailed skirt, why even bother showing her old fashioned column dresses? especially the second one which just looks like a tube.

wandawaves · 05/04/2025 07:27

I think it's very pretty OP, but I always tend to go against the MN grain of 'cover up at all costs or else you look like a hussy'.
I don't think you look overexposed at all. 🤔

primroseandsunshine · 05/04/2025 01:10

Woman if you love it then you get it. You have the perfect figure for it. If when you put it on you feel a million dollars then it’s the dress for you

This is really the answer.

SallyWD · 05/04/2025 07:32

It does suit you and if it makes you feel good, go for it. My first thought was that the top bit looks like underwear.

LongRangeDessertGroup · 05/04/2025 07:32

Monty27 · 05/04/2025 01:38

If you feel beautiful in it then it's for you.
I think it's a bit Madonna with netting as the skirt.

Yes, it looks like Madonna, Like A Virgin record cover

deeahgwitch · 05/04/2025 07:36

How much is it @Wotoo as you say it is ridiculously expensive.
What is the fabric made of ?

babbi · 05/04/2025 07:41

I’m useless at this kind of thing and didn’t even pick my own wedding dress as I’m clueless 🤷‍♀️
My SIL took care of it and I just showed up for fittings 🙄
All I can say to you OP @Wotoo if you’re asking here then you’re not sure so it’s not the dress for you .
Good luck in whatever you choose .
Enjoy your wedding day !

TubeScreamer · 05/04/2025 07:52

I really don’t like the top bit. Looks like underwear.

but, all that matters is whether or not you like it

I agree with this. If you have even half a doubt, then it's not the dress for you and you should keep looking..

Mirabai · 05/04/2025 07:58

You have a lovely figure but I really don’t like the top part and I’m convinced that thicker lining will improve it sufficiently.

If you like that shape there are lots of that style around.

I would keep looking for a dress of the same shape with a more classy finish. Particularly if this is expensive.

CautiousLurker01 · 05/04/2025 07:58

surroundedbyid1ots · 05/04/2025 01:51

Agree with others- the top half isn’t the best.
something like this has similar vibes but a bit classier?

how much is your dress? Or what is your ideal budget?

This dress is stunning and OP has the figure for it!

diddl · 05/04/2025 07:59

To answer your question Op I think it suits you very much.

Would you be comfortable all day or "hoiking" it up?

I compromised slightly and had the dress I could just put on & forget I was wearing.

Think this or similar would really suit your figure.

That to me is the epitome of cheap looking!

Apparently exposed corset rib wedding dresses are a thing.

Watters corset wedding dresses

They absolutely are
i am biased, I love a sheer/corset/lingerie style wedding dress. Especially the ones you see on Pinterest where the setting is also Santorini or the Amalfi Coast 😅

Think it’s lovely on you, but the chest area seems like it’s not as fitted to your shape as it could be?
