Mine is silk hair bonnets - total game changer for my frizzy wavy hair!!

I used to wake up with my head looking like a birds nest for it to somehow look even worse after I've brushed it as any curls just turn into frizz.

Another thing thats worked for me is I now only brush my hair just before washing (2-3 times per week) and just use my fingers to detangle the other days when needed

I've recently gotten into curl creams/mouses but still getting the hang of those, still so excited that I now wake up with normal looking hair 😅

Keep tweezers in your make-up bag and tidy up eyebrows every couple of days ( after getting them professionally shaped).

JMAngel1 · 14/02/2025 22:32

For a super fast subtle fake tan, spritz a dark fake tan in a 360 degree sprayer all over the body in one go and then slather over a deeply scented body cream. The scent kills the biscuit smell and dilutes the dark tan and also spreads it evenly so that it’s subtle sunkissed glow that takes approx 5 minutes to apply.

i keep my under eye patches next to the kettle so that I put them on every morning without thinking about it.

Ditto for rich hand cream next to kitchen sink to wear under gloves when washing up.

Try to only wash hair once a week - curly girl here so easily doable. Saves a lot of time and product.

Before leaving a salon appointment, always book the next one. I go to salons for root touch ups, brow lamination and gel pedicures and feel more polished when all timetabled in.

Wear clear polish with slight tint like Dior Nail Glow so if it chips a little it’s not so obvious. This way I only have to do my nails approx every 5 days.

Keep face gadgets by bed - I have my led face mask, RF wand and Nu Face in my bedside drawers and use them whilst watching YT videos or Netflix in bed at night.

Crush non ( dispersible) aspirin to a fine powder, dampen face and neck and pat the crushed aspirin on to you face and neck. Lay down for 10 minutes and relax, then massage your face and neck and use the aspirin mask as a face scrub. Rinse off and moisturize.
Result - lovely glowing skin!

Learn not to put so much importance on appearance, value yourself for who you are and not what beauty standards you feel you have to conform to.

Let go of unreasonable expectations, save money and time.

Do you think men do this shit?

Free yourselves.

This is Style and Beauty?

I enjoy my beauty regime - it’s my little piece of happiness and me time every day.

Fair point, it came up in active and I thought it was a bit silly. But you're right, it is in style and beauty. I will hide the topic so that I don't get irked by women succumbing to this nonsense again.

Apologies.

+1 for this. ‘This is Style and Beauty’ is no defence for the claptrap that is spouted on this board.

Dunkou · 15/02/2025 07:09

I wish people would just not comment instead of desperately trying to show how superior they are.

Anyway. My tip which had made the biggest difference this year is a magnifying mirror with a light. I wear glasses and at last I can see properly to pluck my eyebrows and put on make-up.

SlaveToAGoldenRetriever · 15/02/2025 07:16

Dressing gown curls! As someone who is a) bad at doing hair and b) short on time they have been life changing

Super easy, no fancy equipment or heat needed and they only take about 2 mins to put in at bedtime. Wake up the next morning looking like you’re fresh out of the salon with a gorgeous blow out!

Twilightstarbright · 15/02/2025 07:30

Wear your correct colours and you’ll look better even in gym clothes.

While a bit of me would like to care less, I too also enjoy a good pamper. This is the level of organisation and commitment I aspire to, but fail at. I would need to be in bed by 7pm to manage it all, so hats off to you for organisation.

My top tips are similar to others, using great hair products not just good ones, means I wash my hair less and the condition of my hair is much much better.

IPL for hair removal. Game changer in my book.

Skin care though I have trimmed back after years of spending too much on expensive creams and potions.

Moisturiser - keep it simple. I use Nivea Soft for body etc. Lumen Vitamin C for my face. Combine this with a glycolic acid toner and my skin has never looked better.

Garnier do a fake tan body lotion in an orange bottle which is brilliant for a gentle top up at this time of year and does not smell.

Ditto silk wrap at night. Game changer.
Someone here, after I mentionned the Silke bonnet suggested to try Kerastase night serum, whoever you are, I love you. It is amazing, I wake up every morning to the sound of photographers and agents trying to make me sign a modelling contract.

A bit gross but I've discovered "slugging", which consists in slathering your face with petroleum jelly after washing your face and moisturising and leave it overnight.
The idea is that PJ traps water and helps keeping your face hydrated. I must say it works quite well on me.
I also do it on my hands and I sleep with cotton gloves.
Good thing I'm single because I don't exactly look glamorous at night. I

And finally, a good BIAB manicure. I used to have very short and brittle nails, and overall ugly hands and now I tap my sturdy, strong and long-ish nails everywhere like a tiktok influencer.

sunshinechaser · 15/02/2025 09:03

@JMAngel1 I have to ask for more details on the fake tan. Do you mean a professional 360 degree sprayer? Like a big tent thing that beauty therapists use?
Thanks-would love something to make fake tanning easier!

LunchBoxPolice · 15/02/2025 09:09

Tretinoin is the only product that I’ve found really makes a difference, I’ve finally got a bit of glow back

JMAngel1 · 15/02/2025 09:11

@sunshinechaser oh gosh no! I just get a 360 spray from Amazon - think it’s called Tanology. Then they have liquid fake tan to go in to it. I choose the darkest tanology liquid but then the body lotion dilutes it and spreads it all over. Lasts well for around a week and takes 5 minutes. Tanning used to take me around 20 mins to do with other products so this is a game changer for me.

sunshinechaser · 15/02/2025 09:24

Thanks @JMAngel1. I've had a look on Amazon but can't find any of these. There's a brand called Tanologist but I can't see a spray bottle. Sorry! Could you link if you get a sec? Sounds fab so I'd love to try it.

'Again'? Beauty has been valued and around FOREVER.

Honestly, losing weight.
Regular cut and colour. Book in next appointment while you're at the hairdresser.
Exercise.
Water.
Spf 50 every day.
The basics!

Simple skin care. Cleanse, serum, moisturiser, SPF.

Bobbi brown tinted moisturiser, eyebrow pencil (Charlotte Tilbury brown cheat), eyebrow gel (Anastasia Beverly hills brow freeze)), blusher, eyelash curlers if no time for anything else.

Am going to check out the silk hair bonnet.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/02/2025 09:57

Agree with BIAB nails. As somebody whose iron levels are ever only just on the right side of normal, my nails have always been rubbish. I now get them done once a month and they are long and tough and beautiful.

I recently bought Trilogy rosehip oil and really like it. It’s cured a little dry patch on my cheek that had been there for months.

NewDogOwner · 15/02/2025 10:18

Found the perfect hairdresser who cuts the front of my hair so it frames my face. Taking the front section of my hair and using the straighteners to pull it back and at an angle. It leaves the front section all swooshy and looks like a fancy blow dry.

Tightlining with a dark brown eyeliner (Avon Glimmerstick Brown Sugar.

Yep, I've done all that.

And BIAB nails are my hack to always feeling like a grown who has their shit together.
