Mine is silk hair bonnets - total game changer for my frizzy wavy hair!!

I used to wake up with my head looking like a birds nest for it to somehow look even worse after I've brushed it as any curls just turn into frizz.

Another thing thats worked for me is I now only brush my hair just before washing (2-3 times per week) and just use my fingers to detangle the other days when needed

I've recently gotten into curl creams/mouses but still getting the hang of those, still so excited that I now wake up with normal looking hair 😅

Eyebrow razers. Cheap small razers. Moisturise your eyebrows brush them up and use the razor to get rid of the unwanted hair. So quick and easy and way less painful

laveritable · 15/02/2025 20:12

Vaseline: for 20 different things!

NippyNinjaCrab · 15/02/2025 20:23

What's tightlining with eyeliner? @NewDogOwner

I laminate and tint my own brows now and go in for a professional wax occasionally, apart from saving me a fortune my brows sit how I want them and my tint isn't staining my skin to exaggerate my brows 😆

Anyone use Tan luxe face drops? I was considering starting for a tint instead of faffing with a cc cream after moisturiser.

dothedanceofjoy · 15/02/2025 20:32

As someone with flat hair, I recently discovered that putting it up in a silk scrunchie in a really high ponytail at night means it has some volume the next day AND stops the pillow from frizzing the outside hairs (I have a silk pillowcase but don't like it much, I much prefer brushed cotton, but it does frizz hair).

So simple, and I'm 45 ffs, all these years I didn't know this

Yes, good idea. Any recommendations?

John Lewis ones are fab

Heartofmetal · 15/02/2025 20:39

Use a waterflosser when brushing teeth.
Silk pillowcase.

olaplex shampoo and conditioner and a bi-weekly clarifying wash with Ouai shampoo.
tangle teezer wet hairbrush and a dry one minimises damage.
dr Sam’s skincare is brilliant and fair price - her tinted lip balm is a great substitute for lipstick.

letswame · 15/02/2025 20:46

Castor oil on face - literally smoother my face and leave it on for a few hours then wash off ...skin is super soft

Mydahliasareshit · 15/02/2025 20:46

Vicks vaporub liberally for any under-boob soreness. Very healing and helps me off to sleep as a bonus.

comoatoupeira · 15/02/2025 20:47

Also frizzy/wavy: only ever brush hair wet

Wear your correct colours and you’ll look better even in gym clothes.

How can you do this without ‘getting your colours done’?

Gagaandgag · 15/02/2025 20:52

Dermalogica
Olaplex
high quality omega oils
vegetarian collagen
spf 50 daily
water
weights 30 min every morning
daily walk
pluck eyebrows regularly
aim for 30 plants a week
park car as far from shop as possible. Carry bags back to car
always walk up and down stairs and dont take lifts

Gagaandgag · 15/02/2025 20:54

Body shop hemp hand scrub and cream

orangegato · 15/02/2025 21:00

Aloe Vera green after sun gel as a primer. Goes on slimy ends sticky and wow makeup goes on/stays on like a DREAM.

BeCalmNavyDreamer · 15/02/2025 21:03

As an obsessive over plucker (I just love tweezing hairs!) I left my eyebrows completely alone for a whole summer. They looked atrocious at the time but after 2 months all the gaps and 'evening out' I. E., overplucking grew out and I now look so much better.

Taking a little time to style your hair each day... I can go with or without a regular appointment, it's the daily styling that makes a difference.

CandyCane457 · 15/02/2025 21:10

In COVID, I started doing loads of leave-in treatments on my hair, it was thin and would be so straggly anything last shoulder length and I always dreamed of luscious long hair.

So from 2020-early 2024 as often as I could I would have expensive leave in conditioners overnight, olaplex 3, coconut oil, castor oil, rosemary oil etc. And the constant treatments made my hair amazing, so much thicker and longer and not straggly- it was amazing. But around spring last year I started to notice my hair, despite looking great, felt SO dry and nothing I did seemed to help. So I had the idea to STOP using all these treatments constantly and just wash it twice a week with normal shampoo. And within a few weeks it was soft and silky again. But still long and more luscious. So basically four years of all this treating did it the world of good in terms of growing and thickening, but then it became too much, and dried it out. And now I have the hair I always dreamed of.

I also use kitsch shampoo and conditioner bars. I find they don’t last as long as they claim too, as once they get thin they start to snap and are harder to use, but I do really love the results.

ghostyslovesheets · 15/02/2025 21:14

Keep tweezers in the car - when sat waiting for someone or in the car park use then in the visor mirror - the light is perfect!

pandapopadance · 15/02/2025 21:16

Utan face spray every three days. Makes my skin look even and I only need blusher, mascara and lip balm to look put together. No more faffing with bb/cc creams.

When you know you're not going to be arsed to get up on time for a hair wash, dry shampoo before bed (don't rub it in or brush). The next morning, hair looks washed 🤣

Justleaveitblankthen · 15/02/2025 22:48

@ThThingamebobwotsit
Thanks for the Garnier fake tan tip.
Does it really not smell?
I usually can't bear the smell, even something as innocent as the Dove one.

It has a mild apricot smell, but much lighter than the Dove version. I can't use that either.

It isn't too expensive so maybe worth a go to see if you like it/can tolerate?

rumkar · 15/02/2025 22:56

Skincare-wise, tretinoin and hydroquinone for me.

And for hair, the Kerastase 24hr magic night serum. Sleep in it twice a week and it makes your hair silkier than any other product I've tried.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 15/02/2025 23:01

Find a really truly excellent hairdresser. You wear your hair every day.

Learn not to put so much importance on appearance, value yourself for who you are and not what beauty standards you feel you have to conform to.

Let go of unreasonable expectations, save money and time.

Do you think men do this shit?

Free yourselves.

Well said.
