Mine is silk hair bonnets - total game changer for my frizzy wavy hair!!

I used to wake up with my head looking like a birds nest for it to somehow look even worse after I've brushed it as any curls just turn into frizz.

Another thing thats worked for me is I now only brush my hair just before washing (2-3 times per week) and just use my fingers to detangle the other days when needed

I've recently gotten into curl creams/mouses but still getting the hang of those, still so excited that I now wake up with normal looking hair 😅

Wrist sweatbands to avoid soggy sleeves when washing your face.
Razors with the little clipper/shaver attachment for getting rid of top lip hair and tidying up brows.

We all have our fab little quirks I know, but please beware of shaving any area of your face. The hair gets removed at skin level (tweezers & waxing etc. remove hair from the root) so can:

  1. Give the feeling/look of a darker
& thicker hair as cut straight
    across.
  2. Can leave a '5 o'clock shadow' across the skin. Accentuated with powder make up etc.

Honestly, what we girlies have to deal with! x 💐

I don't wear make up and never have done (because I look like a clown when I apply it, as I'm useless!) and have been told a good cc cream would help even out my skin tone (nose is reddening as I approach peri) any recommendations?
My tips, drink lots of water, a bit of mouthwash mixed in with the water in your water flosser for extra freshening (still use proper floss though, it can't get everything), and essie apricot nail and cuticle oil. Smells lovely, and has smoothed all the ragged skin around my nails the come from working outdoors. Apply when you don't need to do anything with your hands for a bit to let it soak in!

I use Origins Ginzeng SPF 40, after seeing it recommended on here. I am pale and Eborian always looked a bit dark on me, but this goes on well and is a very subtle even veil of colour that adjusts to your skin tone. A little goes a long way.

Tretinoin is the only product that I’ve found really makes a difference, I’ve finally got a bit of glow back

Where do you get this from? X

Estée Lauder Day Wear Tint Release moisturiser.
Game changer for me, it's the only thing I wear now at 54 as I hate the way foundation sits on my skin. It's SPF 15 too.
It changes shade to match your own and gives a gorgeous glow without being obvious. It's the only one I've got on with and have always taken it away on holiday but it's now a staple for everyday.

Tret has meant I can ditch compulsively buying every new product in the hope of it being the one HG route to good skin and just use Simple or Nivea and a sunscreen plus vit c in the morning.

If you want to try for less, here’s my personal code Tret linky

Retinol can cost more than retinoids ie tretinoin/tazarotene/adapalene yet is less effective.

Love my local Dior counter. I think the Dior foundation is the best I have tried.

For me, it’s highlights every eight weeks, Botox twice a year, regular dental checkups, good skincare routine, gym five times a week, tidy nails etc

And for the miseries at the back, I do all of this for ME. Yes, novel concept I know 🙄

I wish I was strict with the gym :(
But I have a 2 year old

What diet do you follow if you don't mind me asking

AmythestBangle · 17/02/2025 23:18

This beef tallow balm is absolutely magic for dry skin, it also smells lovely, not at all what you would imagine! I always have several pots of it around.

Ooh this sounds promising.... It doesn't seem to be tinted when you put it on looking it up, which is great as most are too orange for me!

Cormoran · 18/02/2025 06:56

Have you tried Eborian ?

KatharinaRosalie · 18/02/2025 09:13

Semi-permanent tattoo brows, lips and eyeliner. I'm blonde and fair so had to draw my face on every morning not to look like a surprised rabbit. Got eyebrows first, then liner as well. Now make up is entirely optional and people don't ask if I'm ill.

No I haven't tried that either... I'll have a gander!

KatharinaRosalie · 18/02/2025 09:19

Also agree with Erborian - not the BB, that's too thick for me. But CC or CC water are brilliant.

Amaranthasweetandfair · 16/02/2025 10:39

I agree, my partner bought me this about five years ago (don't know if it was a hint) and it's amazing for people with hairy brows and chins like me. Can get a bit obsessed squeezing my blocked pores in it though.

These look amazing, but beyond my price range. How crucial is the range of light, do you think? Would any magnifying mirror with a light do the same job?

I have the redness CC but want to try the BB or the CC and am undecided,I do like a bit of coverage.

Cakey46 · 19/02/2025 07:34

@IBloodyLoveMyBlanket I finally got around to buying a £30 version from Amazon and I'm thrilled with it - a good light, 1x and 20x magnifying that doesn't distort plus it feels solid.
I don't k own how it compares to the expensive one but I can see things I've never seen before Confused

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 19/02/2025 09:39

Thanks @Cakey46 , would you be able to link to it?

Sorry just looking it was £36 something but still better than the SimpleHuman jobby

okydokethen · 19/02/2025 12:31

Brazilian blow dry - life changing for frizzy hair types
Driclor - means I can wear any top without worrying about sweat patches
Murad - oil and pore reducing moisturiser with SPF 45, I don't wear foundation and swear by this.
Sanctuary salt scrub - use once a week for incredible soft moisturised skin
Microbladed brows - go to someone whose online photos are really impressive. I travel for almost 2 hours to go to an amazing practitioner.

Tret has been a game changer for me. I always had a baby face but now the '11' lines I had have disappeared.

My skin is dry so I use pretty heavy-duty moisturiser too. Never had a peeling or purging.

And everyone should wear spf daily

BrassedOffTiggy · 19/02/2025 17:54

@LostInAMist
Yes it goes on a sort of grey colour but changes as soon as it is rubbed in. My tip is to start with a little and build it up, as it's a moisturiser you can end up looking too dewy if you use too much!
