I am in such a terrible state, I've nothing nice t wear, I've been buying fast fashion in horrible material and nothing goes together 😔.
Looking to you gorgeous lot for inspiration for Spring. I'm thinking of buying a camel wool coat in the sales, and really having a glow up....but where to start?!

I have a list!
Barrel leg jeans - mid blue and distressd - sooooo hard to find.
A cream woollen bomber type collarless jacket
A mini cropped trench in a navy or warm cream - tough to find
Metallic ballet trainers - I should go for gold as I'm an autumn but I like the look of metallic silver better - love the otusaka tiger ones.
A cream Polene style shoulder bag - but not Polene as ££££
Not sure about tops - haven't seen any new style that grabs me that is different to what I already have.

I need a complete over haul of my casual weekend/ day to day wardrobe.

I have a decent enough work wardrobe which i add to now & then

I have a nice going out wardrobe which is my main love for buying. We do have a decent social life & I adore having something lovely to wear going for a dinner etc

But...a regular Saturday or a coffee with dh or friends or a day off work etc I'm v low now so that's my focus for any purchases

I need jeans & I'd like 3 pairs. Barrel leg, wide leg cropped with big turnup & straight leg. Mid & dark blue

I'd also like some beautiful tops to wear with jeans & a weekend jacket. Perhaps bomber style but in an interesting fabric

I have 2 x pairs of new hoff trainers bought just before Christmas & I'm planning a pair of birkenstock Boston clogs to wear with jeans

A few years ago I spent fairly ridiculously big money on a zadig & voltaire hoody but I have to say the quality was outstanding & I've had such a lot of wear from it that I might invest in another.

@JMAngel1 H&M have a cropped trench in their new in section, in 2 or 3 colours

I'm going to buy more jeans definitely. I've got myself into a yoga leggings with white socks rut and I hate wearing them it's just what I find easy and practical. I got myself some more wide leg levis and straight legs, a pair of black skinnies that although not fashionable will hopefully go with anything. Got a gillet to go over patterned long sleeve tops as a transion from my big black puffer coat.

A suede jacket is on my wishlist but all the nice ones are £££.

Me too. Someone posted a longer length one on another thread which I loved (company beginning with B?).

However, I’m on a no-buy , except essentials (eg replacing stained work white blouses), so may have to wait until birthday .

ChangingHistory · 23/02/2025 13:50

I've been trying to buy better quality for a few years so I dont need much new but I do need to go through and get rid of everything that's not working for me.

I accept that the UK is unlikely to have a warm and sunny spring so I have a few slim fitting cotton jumpers that look good with jeans and wide leg trousers. And I've bought a mid blue moleskin jacket that's spring-like but will offer some warmth.

I want to buy trainers, new tshirts as we head towards summer and more coloured bottoms. I'm also gradually replacing my leather bags with lighter materials.

Summer is going to need a complete rebuy. I have never found the right shape for summer, I need to try something new.

Well my resistance didn’t last long at all. I ordered the red trainers. Realising that my most comfortable trainers don’t go with the outfits I’ll be wearing on my upcoming holiday tipped it for me. I’m sure I’ll love them, but I do feel a bit of shame for the consumerism 😳

BangingOn · 23/02/2025 14:24

@ChangingHistory I am with you on finding summer harder to dress for, I’ve never found the right shape or style for me. I thought it was because of my size but I’ve lost weight to a size 8/10 (depending on whether there is vanity sizing or not) and I’m still struggling. Spring I can cope with as I swap boots for trainers and coat for a leather jacket or blazer, but beyond that I enjoy the sunshine whilst longing for autumn and winter clothes.

So I’m following this thread in the hope of inspiration.

Thank you - just had a quick and could only see one for £145 which is very steep for me but thank you - exactly the kind of one I'm looking for.

I also forgot to add waist belts in beige and tan - apparently we can now cinch all our oversized blazers from last year in at the waist which, as a petite, I am here for!

Zara have a lovely suede jacket at the mo that I’ve got my eye on but it is £160!

https://theconceptwardrobe.com/build-a-wardrobe/determine-your-body-shapes

A useful article on determining your body shape, with pointers as to what clothes suit which shape. Once you know this, it makes clothes shopping so much easier. You may lust over a certain leopard skin v neck top you , but if doesn’t suit your body shape, then you ‘ll never entirely feel comfortable in it.

wooliegloves · 23/02/2025 16:16

I saw someone with a really nice jacket today. It was khaki, kinda shell material, longer than the bum. It was almost like an anorak but thicker & more structured. I was about to ask the lady where it was from when dc fell over in a muddy puddle 🙄. So annoying as it is what I have been looking for

HowAmITheCatsGranny · 23/02/2025 18:47

I wish I had seen the Uniqlo cashmere blend long sleeve T’s sooner! I was looking for a plain but warm base layer all winter (I might still order a couple to put away..) I’m also looking for a pale yellow jumper. And maybe something suede / fringed / western style (I’ve seen a few videos on instagram with those details on the clothes..)

notwavingbutdrowning1 · 23/02/2025 20:05

@HowAmITheCatsGranny, I'm looking forward to wearing my Uniqlo cashmere-blend long-sleeve Ts in spring. They really add warmth as a layer under a jumper but they're so fine and lightweight they'd be good on their own or under a blazer too. I honestly can't recommend them highly enough. I have black, olive and off-white. Wondering whether to get the grey. I've never bought anything in more than one colour before! They were a fiver off a few weeks ago, which helped.
