I am in such a terrible state, I've nothing nice t wear, I've been buying fast fashion in horrible material and nothing goes together 😔.
Looking to you gorgeous lot for inspiration for Spring. I'm thinking of buying a camel wool coat in the sales, and really having a glow up....but where to start?!

I think what bothers me (with putting links in people’s posts) is blurring the line between user posts and adverts. I’ve no problem with ads and promoted content but it should be clear which is which. I really dislike platforms where that distinction isn’t clear.

Also it’s annoying as people will assume it’s a helpful link to the item in question rather than just the company website which I think we can all find by ourselves thank you.

Oh, and I haven’t got any buying plans for spring as I had a bit of a Vinted splurge last year but looking forward to wearing some of it again, like my short jacket rather than a long winter coat!

YetAgainAgain · 12/02/2025 11:36

This morning I’m hunting online for a spring jacket & possibly some leopard print trousers. I stuck really well to a colour palette then fell hard for a brown coat & its all gone to crap 🤦🏻‍♀️

Just ordered a mid length brown suede skirt. Going to attempt to wear it as I would a denim skirt/jeans but just hoping it fits for now. It’ll go back on Vinted if not. Aiming for a Massimo Dutti vibe.

Also purchased an open weave jumper from M&S (they’re going well on this thread aren’t they?) in a clear red that’ll be great with jeans and ubiquitous camel trench I already own.

Like a PP I bought a grass green jumper already and it’s a surprisingly versatile colour but I don’t think it’ll go with brown suede without looking Robin Hood unfortunately.

Oh and more for summer (and with a voucher so technically free) some Salt Water slides in navy from TK Maxx.

Lentilweaver · 12/02/2025 12:29

I am trying to buy way less and use what I already have in my wardrobe.
I already have a trench coat, wide leg jeans, and some bright jumpers in green and pink. I can't wear camel or beige; can do brights.

I did buy these silver New Balances. I don't usually like metallics but these aren't shiny and very comfortable. New Balance RC42 Trainers Silver Metallic - Women's Trainers

Where did you get your suede skirt from? Sounds lovely

Doggymummar · 12/02/2025 13:26

I've bought two pairs of wideleg jeans, thank you Sainsbury's and some Stella McCartney platform trainers from Vinted. I'm so excited for the shoes to come. I'll be so tall and elegant. Lol

Just second hand. Loads available in different styles and brands across various selling platforms so you’ll be spoiled for choice. I’m not sure enough about it to drop a few hundred pounds but for around a tenner I was prepared to give it a try. Plus I’m a bit of a butterfingers so I’m not naturally drawn to high maintenance fabrics!

MrsPernicious · 12/02/2025 14:25

@D20 , you now need to buy an apron and put it on every time you enter the kitchen or eat some thing. Food has a natural ability to seek out and jump at suede skirts.

Re hot holiday - I want to try to get a couple of very thin cotton dresses, ideally with short sleeves rather than sleeveless. Ridiculously hard to find!

Try Mountain Warehouse - perhaps not the most trendy brand, but they have lots

RavenT · 12/02/2025 14:53

Some spring jeans - usually worn Chesham Girlfriend from Fatface, but their sizing has gone awry this year and I'm between sizes (one much too small the other too big). Tried M&S Jeans this winter and don't like them for me!

Flopsy145 · 12/02/2025 16:54

Get a good coat in one of your base neutrals, so a grey or beige or camel, even a colour that love.
Get a good pair of two of light blue jeans in the style you like, ones that fit you well.
Pair of white leather trainers.
Also maybe a nice bag (cross body from pom pom london in a nice light/bright or neutral colour that goes with your colour palette) that will bring your look together.

It depends on your style, are you more of an 'athleisure' sort of person who likes a nice pair of gym leggings or more of a coastal vibe, or city etc.

*Edited as read you were already an autumn!

Agreed.

You may have inspired me to sew some leopard print trousers, if I can find the right fabric. Loose and slouchy 1970s ish.

HowAmITheCatsGranny · 12/02/2025 17:13

I bought some lovely new New Balance trainers. Looking for a warm jacket that will do for the remaining cold months (I’m in Scotland and spring feels a long way away!) maybe faux fur or I’ve also looked at a short camel or cream wool trench..

ExercicenformedeZ · 12/02/2025 17:27

I'm in a vintage mode. I'm scouring Ebay and Etsy for lots of 30s-50s clothes, and I have noticed that the quality is so, so much higher than most of what you can buy today. Enshittification is a real thing, it isn't imagined.

I wish I was talented enough to sew, I can't even hem TBH.
I love abit of animal print though. I already have a pair of wide legged leopard print jeans and recently bought a pair of straight legged snakeskin ones for a fiver. Just waiting for the weather for them!

For spring I don't need much, mainly shoes. I'd love a pair of loafers and my trainers died last year so will Def need a new pair.
I went on abit of a coat buying binge on Vinted last year so have plenty of options there.
I agree that a trenchcoat is a good call. I'm not a classic, camel person though so mine are denim and plaid.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/02/2025 19:31

I’ve recently taught myself. It’s very satisfying! I’m not brilliant, but I’ve got a couple of patterns under my belt now.

I am SO ready to pack away winter clothes! It feels like spring is a long way off here in Scotland, so my shopping has been quite unhinged. It’s my birthday this month so I have had a bit of extra cash, plus no council tax, and I am wishful thinking a bit here. Since Christmas I have bought:

Cream barrel leg trousers from Cos - I really wanted these last year and they sold out, so I bought them even though I know I won’t wear them for a while

A bright green cardi from M&S. the colour is called “grass” and it’s so cheerful!

A black v-neck merino wool cardi from &OS. This will be a useful staple for work with black jeans and a white or stripy t-shirt

Leopard print wide leg trousers in the Damson Madder sale

Barrel leg leopard print jeans from Abercrombie. What can I say? I love leopard print. I have worn these quite a few times already and think they will work all year round

I have ordered and am waiting on a mustard Cos sweatshirt, and dark denim barrel leg trousers, also from Cos.

I would like another pair of Adidas Spezial trainers, either the mustard/pink, or the pink/green I think.

Oooh this all sounds fun!

I am approx 1000 weeks pregnant and due to give birth to my third next month. Have either been pregnant or breastfeeding since mid-2020, which has meant either looking like a constipated hippo or kind of emaciated. I can’t really be bothered to buy nice maternity clothes as I look and feel gross, and I am more excited than I ought to be about rediscovering my wardrobe!!

Love the sound of the cream barrel legs - though probably highly impractical. Definitely keen for some barrel leg jeans though after 9 months of leggings. Also perhaps a nice cashmere jumper when we are out of the possety bit? And some excellent gold hoops when I’m no longer at risk of having them grabbed. I did buy some leopard print Adidas SL72 the other day. I keep going to my wardrobe and just wistfully looking at it. 😂😂

LeaveALittleNote · 12/02/2025 22:02

On my wish list for spring (I will have a look in the charity shops before resorting to buying anything new);

Cotton knitted fisherman’s jumper

Small leather shoulder bag

Wide leg jeans in blue or cream

Some comfortable leather shoes that I can walk miles in. I’m probably searching for the impossible. I might resort to trainers, although trainers are not really my style.

I can’t wait to cheer myself with a bit of retail therapy.

WashableVelvet · 12/02/2025 22:13

John Lewis do free personal stylist appointments, so your wish isn’t far off being possible! They are good, no pressure, they’re happy to spend an hour with you figuring out what on earth jeans to wear now that it isn’t skinnies (for eg).

To be honest, now that M and S have started stocking clothes I actually can see myself wearing and often the prices are reasonable, I'm so happy that they have moved away from the monstrosities of a few years ago that I don't mind the advertising.

Cantonet · 13/02/2025 15:44

I've just bought with some birthday money as pictured ( because I'm officially on a low buy!)

Two blue & white Uniqlo Collab shirts. Because they're cropped & quite a sturdy material. Just long enough to slightly tuck in if needed but a brilliant length with barrel leg jeans.

A Uniqlo powder soft down jacket in Olive in the sales. Very practical & feels lovely on for dog walking/casual wear etc. I utilised my £10 birthday voucher!

A Lapella tan leather cross body bag from Tk Maxx.
