I have no idea if mine is included @IlovePond. I am going to email Toast as I never received any recall from them.

IlovePond · 05/05/2025 18:03

Please let us know what Toast say @ScottishMouse - I will be even more appalled than I am already if they haven’t contacted all purchasers and arranged for refunds and returns.

@Yorkshirelass04 oddly I have been toying with the beyond 9 website just today! I'd love to know if anyone has any information. I'm very tempted, because the trousers are exactly the shape I like, I desperately need some new trousers, and I can't seem to find any I like anywhere else. I'm hesitant only because the quality is an unknown quantity and I am completely sick of buying things and having to return them.

ScottishMouse · 05/05/2025 18:50

I’ll let you know @IlovePond. I’ll be disappointed to have to return it as it is far and away the best shower curtain I have ever had, but I obviously don’t want to be using it if mine is included in the recalled ones.

faustina · 05/05/2025 19:54

That is a shame about the shower curtains - I know just what you mean about how nice they are @ScottishMouse . In my old house (I don't need one here) I was on a constant quest for a nice one - nothing worse than wet plastic clinging to one's leg

About Beyond Nine: I don't have anything by them but lots of people I follow on Instagram seem to plug the brand. The sizing seems to be as up in the air as that of Toast.

mizu · 05/05/2025 20:16

@ScottishMouse crikey 😱

I am always on the look out for a good shower curtain. Currently have a striped one from John Lewis.

As for Beyond Nine, they come up on my Instagram a lot and I like the shape of their stuff too but have never bought. Think it’s very oversized.

shrinkingthiswinter · 05/05/2025 22:03

I had a recall for my nice stripey shower curtain

ScottishMouse · 06/05/2025 06:56

Interesting @shrinkingthiswinter do you remember when you bought yours? I bought mine Feb 2024, maybe it was not part of the recall.

ScottishMouse · 06/05/2025 06:57

Also @shrinkingthiswinter have you managed to find anything with a similar liner curtain anywhere?

shrinkingthiswinter · 06/05/2025 07:47

I bought it in May last year. Haven’t found a replacement.

ScottishMouse · 06/05/2025 08:51

☹️ @shrinkingthiswinter

Carocurls · 06/05/2025 09:46

Sorry to keep asking sizing questions but toast clothes are a lot of money for me and I want to get it right.
if any of you have crinkle skirts from previous years can you tell me if they stay true to size after washing. I’m between sizes in toast and worry that the smallest size will become too small (xxs) and the bigger size will become too baggy (xs).

ScottishMouse · 06/05/2025 11:04

Just got a reply and it does seem like all shower curtains are included in the recall, and I just never received an email. Which is a bit shocking. They have reassured that the amount of lead is within EU regs, but they are recalling as they do not want to use any dangerous materials in their items.

IlovePond · 06/05/2025 14:36

That’s disgraceful @ScottishMouse - both the attempt at justification and the failure to inform you.

Thanks for the update.

Is the liner the waterproof part, and then the curtain itself just nice regular ticking material @ScottishMouse ?

AFingerofFudge · 06/05/2025 15:01

@oddandelsewhereand others asking about Beyond Nine trousers- I have several pairs and am a big fan. In fact I’m sitting here wearing a pair! I have only bought the Mabel Linen Trousers (I have green check, purple vertical stripe, navy and black) and totally love them! They are comfortable, high quality linen and are very flattering. So many people ask me where they are from.

In terms of sizing, I am around a size 14 ( a 15 really!!) and have both size S and size M and they both fit comfortably.

mizu · 06/05/2025 15:06

@AFingerofFudgenice to know more about the sizing. So a 10-12, more a 12 would probably need an XS or S.

oddandelsewhere · 06/05/2025 15:43

@AFingerofFudge thank you, that is so helpful to hear about the beyond 9 trousers. I think that if someone who is used to Toast clothes buys 4 pairs they are probably worth having!I
Also good to know about the sizing, they sound quite generous. I used to wear Toast lage, but they are really much too big for me now I am definitely a medium. Do you think a Beyond 9 medium would fit?

AFingerofFudge · 06/05/2025 15:54

@oddandelsewhere I would have thought so!! I usually wear large in Toast clothing. I find the small Mabels slightly snug to get over my hips but then totally fine and comfortable to wear, and the medium slightly on the large side but not by much.

ScottishMouse · 06/05/2025 15:58

Yes @faustina, that’s right. The outer curtain in the ticking fabric has no weights in it. The inner curtain isn’t waterproof, it’s just a light woven fabric. That is why I like it so much, it isn’t that horrible plastic stuff that a lot of shower curtain liners are made of. But the weights with the lead are in the liner part. So I reckon the outer part would still be fine to use if I could just replace the liner.
I have washed the liner part in the machine lots, and then put our clothes in after it, and we have had the curtain up for over a year, so I am also inclined to think that if we were to get lead poisoning from it, it would have happened already.

faustina · 06/05/2025 16:12

@ScottishMouseunless I had small children I think I’d keep it. Could you snip the weights off perhaps?

ScottishMouse · 06/05/2025 17:00

Yes, I did think about replacing the weights. I have used those type of weights in homemade curtains before. But then I thought, what is to say the ones I would buy from my local haberdashery store don’t have lead in too!

ScottishMouse · 06/05/2025 17:15

@faustina, I also wanted to say that my Ivy tees have been getting lots of wear this last week or two. I had bought the black and white previously, but ordered some more which arrived yesterday, and am really liking the ecru and grey. Also got the navy Breton stripe, but that one might go back as I have too many similar tops!

faustina · 06/05/2025 17:21

Oh thank you @ScottishMouse - can I ask how short they are on you? Waist length, longer? The regular T-shirts she does are a bit too long for me but I don’t want cropped either.

ScottishMouse · 06/05/2025 17:43

Yes, I found that with the regular tees too. These are a great length for me, they hit just longer than the waist of most of my trousers/skirts. I am short but my lack of height is mainly in my legs, my torso is fairly average length I think.
