That's a shame @ScottishMouse - I always love their little summer shirts but none of them work on me either

IlovePond · 11/04/2025 12:29

Hi, just left the sample sale. Will post more later, but here’s some pics.

And more…

There wasn’t anywhere near as much stuff as last April/June, but more than in October. They did say that they would restock over the weekend, but I am not sure how much will be left as they were replenishing the rails today by mid-morning due to high volume of sales.

They did confirm: All shoes and homeware are already out - no restocking. Shoes were mainly 4s and 5s. Very very little homeware even at 9.30am.

Just popped back - the rails have been restocked and it’s really quiet because it’s so warm - good time to pop in if you are local!

Did anyone else go? @mizu?

I have spent far too much🙀

@IlovePond Thanks for the peek of Sample Sale , looking forward to hearing what you bought. You’re probably exhausted , shopping is so tiring !
I shouldn’t have been able to resist some of those things .

mizu · 11/04/2025 16:46

Omg @IlovePond I was there from 9:30-1:30 ish!! Bought a denim dress and two tops. Had a (free) wander around the gardens. All the times I’ve been there I’ve never been. They are incredible- did you go?

Then went back in to restocked rails and bought the Isobel Harvey dark green bird print dress and an orange block print sleeveless dress too. I spent way too much too 😉 but could have bought more…..I tried on so much.

What did you buy?

Im still not quite home!

ToastCosILoveIt · 11/04/2025 17:38

Loving the Sample Sale talk, some lovely things there, although that first photo made me wonder why they hadn’t got out the steamer before hanging the clothes up…😀

I have cracked and bought the Mulmul shirt and matching skirt, the garment dyed linen shirt in oat (only because it has sold out in 12 and then reappeared and I got FOMO at 11.30pm at night nad ordered it), and the ribbon print cotton bandana in garnet.

I love, love the Mulmul shirt, such beautiful colours, a great fit, incredibly overpriced but I think I will get lots of wear out of it. It is odd that the skirt is so much cheaper than the blouse and I don’t like it quite as much - lots of material below the sewn in pleases, but I think I will get lots of wear out of it with Toast’s lovely plain tee shirts. The two look good together too so they are keepers.

The oat linen shirt is beautifully made and although the colour is perhaps a bit draining for my pale complexion, I think it can be lifted by a scarf at the next tucked in, or the shirt can be worn open over a sleeveless dress.

@mizu, I bought that Isobel Harvey dress in the last sale. I haven’t worn it yet as it is a warm weather piece to me but it is an absolute beauty and very well cut.

I hope you are all enjoying the taste of summer we seem to be having, and dusting off some of the Toast summer pieces for a seasonal airing.

An overview !

mizu · 11/04/2025 17:47

My image is under review so hopefully will be seen later!

ScottishMouse · 11/04/2025 18:39

Has anyone tried the very overpriced navy ikat jacket? Or the matching trousers? They don’t seem to have ever made it to my local store so I haven’t managed to see them irl.

Also, has anyone ever come across the brand Hannoh Wessel? I tried on a couple of shirts in a small boutique recently from this brand and they were all great and unusual cuts, but even more pricey than Toast, so wondering whether to invest.

Yorkshirelass04 · 11/04/2025 18:43

She's made that vest look quite wearable! I wouldn't purchase though for the price. It also reminds me a bit of a dining chair cover.

faustina · 11/04/2025 19:35

@mizu and @IlovePond - what successful days' out you've had! Looking forward to seeing what you got too @IlovePond . I'm sort of glad it's so far from me because I would also spend a fortune!

Primrosespaw · 11/04/2025 19:38

@ScottishMouse I have the ikat trousers. They are really beautiful. Quite a lot if material though, so i need to fold the waistband over fir a better fit for me. Gorgeous fabric.

I have also bought the malmul checked scarf. One of my teenager school students complimented me on it in class yesterday. Bless her. The colours are stunning.

IlovePond · 11/04/2025 19:53

@mizu - we were there at the same time! Your stuff is lovely!

I joined the queue at 9.25am - went out at 12ish to the gardens and to give DH my stuff, and went back in to get my DSis the wellness basket.

I got:

Flower Mountain trainers
Dark navy hooded duffle
Blue/white striped tee shirt
Brown/cream long-sleeved tee shirt
Totally unnecessary seat pad
Very unnecessary Xmas paper garlands😹

For DSis:
Bargain oak breadboard: £15
Wellness basket with a couple of bits missing: £30

I could have bought more but restrained myself!

@mizu - were you the person who came out wearing the denim dress and I said it looked lovely?

OP posts:
mizu · 11/04/2025 20:08

@IlovePondoh gosh yes, I was that person ☺️ hair in a bun? A bit frazzled? Old mustard and black check TOAST dress? Thanks for the comment- can’t believe we’ve kind of now met! Well, I bought it and it will go with my other 3 - very different - TOAST denim dresses.

Showing DD2 back from uni my haul and as soon as she sees the denim dress she says, mum I think you already have that!!

I didn’t even see those trainers, lucky you. Far too many shoes there that were too small for me.

A chopping board nearly came with me as well as a bag and some socks but all put back. Thought of u when I saw the Xmas decs.

I wanted to see more homeware.

mizu · 11/04/2025 20:11

And so very nearly bought this which is current season but was slightly tight around the bust.

Thanks @Primrosespaw, is the crotch kind of like the one on the cord loungewear trousers and the black and white check trousers from a year or so ago…almost like a an upside down U shape rather than an upside down V shape as is more usual on trousers (does that make any sense)?

@mizu and @IlovePond this is so cute that you “sort of” met irl!! I often wonder if I have seen anyone from here in the Edinburgh shop.

Primrosespaw · 11/04/2025 20:39

@ScottishMouse yes thats the crotch. It did not put me off, but some slight adjustments needed.

ScottishMouse · 11/04/2025 20:42

Ah thanks @Primrosespaw , I can scratch those off my wishlist so. I tired that style a couple of times previously and could not get it to work for me.

IlovePond · 11/04/2025 21:44

Perhaps we should create a MN Toast thread ‘secret sign’ for use in Toast shops, (a bit like the masons 😹😹😹)

You could ask
" Have you seen Geoffrey?"
"He mislaid his dibber"😁

Nice hauls @IlovePond and @mizu
