What is your one transformative WOW beauty product that you found in 2024?

For me it was a product I didn’t want to like as it’s very pricey and I had thought over the years it was just a gimmick. Plus I had a really good skincare routine before I started using them (essence, HA serum, vit C, peptide cream, SPF, tretinoin, acid actives etc) and I didn’t really see that I could get much more positive effect than with what I was already using.
But wow, these little capsules (god they’re fiddly and annoying) of Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide oil/serum have massively improved my skin just adding it in as an additional layer after my other serums and before my peptide cream. My crepey under eye skin has completely smoothed out and fine lines on my forehead have gone. My skin tone looks more even and skin looks plumper definitely. I’m also less oily throughout the day. I’m gobsmacked given that it’s such a small amount in the capsule.
Only downside is now I have to find the money to include them in my routine ongoing!

What have you found recently that has been an absolute game changer?

Does hair count? If so, similarly to you, a product so so expensive, but also a game changer. Kérastase Nutritive Nourishing Hair Serum which is a night treatment, and Kérastase Première Anti-Frizz Filler Heat Protecting Hair Serum for the day. My menopausal hair is fine and becomes frizzy and pouffy, and I have tried everything to tame the frizz. These two products have made a massive difference. They're pricey but they will last ages as I only need to use less than a pea-sized drop for my below shoulders-length hair.

Lisa Eldridge lurex eyeshadow.

I'm intrigued by the Elizabeth Arden capsules @JMAngel1 . I'd never thought of trying them before but my interest is piqued by you saying they sorted out crepey undereye skin. Mine has got a lot worse recently so I'm on the look out for a miracle!

JMAngel1 · 19/01/2025 09:22

Well be careful @WhereAreWeNow - if they work for you they work out at around £30 a month!! I only use one capsule per day and I have seen cheaper prices on Amazon (?fake). I got pulled in by getting a free 7 day supply at the EA counter in Boots - you could ask there first to try them? The SA had special made up cartons to put 7 in to so it seemed like a fairly standard offer. Definitely worth an ask.

A collagen supplement

I run and was taking it to help recovery but my hair is lush and shiny and my nails have never been so strong.

Good idea. I'll try that next time I'm near a big beauty department.

Does the low volume of replies mean that most products are disappointing 😂

I have thought about it, and really don’t think I discovered any transformative products last year! Which is definitely unusual and probably reflects the stressful quality of my life last year.

I’m currently trialling the Anastasia Beverly Hills Volumizing Tinted Brow Gel (as an alternative to the Dip Brow Pomade which takes a bit more time and care). Wasn’t terribly impressed at first but once my eyebrows are tinted and groomed I think it will work well on days when I really don’t want to look at all made up.

Found lots of new to me clothing brands though. That’s always a comfort in hard times.

I didn’t find any good products in 2024 either. But I think that’s because I used to experiment more in the previous years and found lots of good products that I still use.

Still on the lookout for a good shampoo for fine hair. My scalp tends to get dry and flakey while my hair gets oily fast. I used to love the System Professional Balance shampoo but I think it’s been discontinued.

BlackSwan · 22/01/2025 09:51

Revitalash. Took a few months of consistent use to have an effect, but they're definitely longer now. This morning I noticed they look sort of tangled on one side, love it.

ShowAndGo · 22/01/2025 09:56

Windle Lab curl cream. It kept popping up on my social media and because I am a known sucker for a curl cream, but also one with a cupboard full of 8/10 candidates, I resisted for a while, but then gave in. It's great. Lovely smooth thick curls that last several days. I also bought some shampoo/conditioner which has given my thinning menopausal hair a new bounce.

I stay in the shallow end when it comes to skincare, though. I fear I'd easily be dragged out into the bankrupting deeps...

Christwosheds · 22/01/2025 09:57

Which capsules are they OP ? I was browsing Boots yesterday and there are so many different ones, also eye ones.

owlexpress · 22/01/2025 10:04

I also didn't really discover anything in 2024 which is unusual for me, but perhaps that's a symptom of the fact I'd tried lots of beauty products in the 5 years prior and pretty much have an established routine. The only things I can really think of are the gua sha (!), which I had written off as a gimmick but actually when use with a face oil does help reduce my eye bags. Also Shiseido clear SPF stick, excellent for make up days. Oh and the Glossier lip creme from the Space NK calendar, it has great staying power.

Revitalash works, but like some other lash serums contains prostaglandins which can change eye colour, darken the skin, and lead to the loss of peri-orbital fat, leaving your eyes more hollow and sunken.
Might be worth switching to a prostaglandin free lash serum, as there are quite a few around now. Not such a dramatic effect on lashes though, sadly.

podthedog · 22/01/2025 10:12

Lots but I didn't use a lot before 2024. However I'd probably say Danielle Collins face yoga for my forehead. It's really subtle but long lasting.

Slibberydibbery · 22/01/2025 10:15

Amazing products needn’t cost the Earth- it’s madness how transformative simply eating properly, getting good sleep, not smoking, vaping or drinking can be.

The Ordinary Glycolic Toner (£12) and their Lactic Acid 10% (£9) are game changers for skincare. They last for ages too.

Also a huge advocate of multivitamins. And drinking minimum 3 litres of water every day.

Summerdew · 22/01/2025 12:21

I had a good year last year for finding things that work for me. Olaplex shampoo and conditioner have sorted out my menopausal hair and it’s manageable again. I’m normally a bit meh about cleansers but the Skin Rocks cream cleanser really suits my skin and on a whim I bought the Aldi Lacura silky kajal eyeliner which is a dream to apply, I actually prefer it to the Victoria Beckham ones. I’m also a fan of the Lacura whipped moisturiser but not committing yet as it’s quite heavy so need a while longer to test it out.

itsserendipity · 22/01/2025 12:21

I adore the miracle balms from Jones Road. The formulation takes some getting used to (think a less sticky Vaseline!) but it makes me look awake and great 😄

Tupperwarefan · 22/01/2025 12:39

@TiramisuThief which collagen supplement are you taking - I have thought about trying this

tigerbear · 22/01/2025 14:04

Monday Muse products - designed to calm acne and congested, sensitive skin.
I’m 48, and still used to get acne, blotches, red patches etc regularly, but since I started using MM (especially the cleanser and The Juice), my skin has calmed down drastically.

Jemimapuddleduk · 22/01/2025 15:11

Victoria beckham kohl eyeliners, the Clinique double eyeshadow cream and powder sticks, quai hair products, will powders collagen and l theanine.

mathanxiety · 22/01/2025 15:35

Lancome Hydra Zen liquid glow soothing moisturiser.

Itsalwaysfools · 22/01/2025 15:44

Sticking a bit of plaster over my 11s overnight instead of botox! I no longer have botox done and my 11s are back with a vengeance. I didn't have high hopes but it works a treat. I stretch the skin out a bit, apply the bit of plaster and in the morning, the 11s are gone!! They gradually reappear again over the course of the day but are nowhere near as pronounced.

BitOutOfPractice · 22/01/2025 15:44

This Works Cleavage and Neck Serum.

Much less crepey in the décolletage

Back21970 · 22/01/2025 15:54

Chanel liquid lipsticks were my find of 2024.

Tried so many brands and types over the years and always had sore dry lips after a few days - had virtually given up and resorted to tinted lip balm.

They are pricey but recently bought my second one with Boots points when they had a 20% off day.
