What is your one transformative WOW beauty product that you found in 2024?

For me it was a product I didn’t want to like as it’s very pricey and I had thought over the years it was just a gimmick. Plus I had a really good skincare routine before I started using them (essence, HA serum, vit C, peptide cream, SPF, tretinoin, acid actives etc) and I didn’t really see that I could get much more positive effect than with what I was already using.
But wow, these little capsules (god they’re fiddly and annoying) of Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide oil/serum have massively improved my skin just adding it in as an additional layer after my other serums and before my peptide cream. My crepey under eye skin has completely smoothed out and fine lines on my forehead have gone. My skin tone looks more even and skin looks plumper definitely. I’m also less oily throughout the day. I’m gobsmacked given that it’s such a small amount in the capsule.
Only downside is now I have to find the money to include them in my routine ongoing!

What have you found recently that has been an absolute game changer?

I loved the VB Kajal eyeliner but then found Hildun ones which are virtually the same thing at half the price. Gorgeous shades too and shimmery

For me, it has been switching to a colour changing biomimic foundation. Having had several colour missteps over the years as I have changed brands, I was very open to being influenced by social media clips over the holiday period. I succumbed and ordered one, for me Meroda, but there are several brands. I have to say it is amazing. Goes on white then as soon as it is brushed on, or rubbed in with fingertips, it changes to the exact match of my skin. While I was initially concerned at the somewhat dewy finish, as I have always been a matt foundation wearer (mainly EA double wear), I am now rather enjoying the look. And I sometimes stipple on some Hourglass Ambient to blot any shine.
I am blonde with fair skin. For women of colour or simply of darker complexion, there are brands where you can choose fair, medium and dark.
When this bottle is finished, I'll try another brand but I can definitely see myself sticking with one of these biomimic foundations.

For me it’s Hello Klean shampoo and conditioner, that counteracts the effects of hard water. It’s transformed my hair, it’s so pleasing to just have soft shiny swishy hair with very little effort. I also use the Revlon OneStep hot brush thing as a blow dry which is great - but 100% better with the Hello Klean haircare.

WhereAreWeNow · 25/01/2025 08:11

This thread is lethal. Having succumbed to the EA capsules, I'm now lusting after the Hildun eyeliner....

Also will second everyone saying collagen supplements. I use the powder in my coffee every morning. I notice the difference in my skin if I run out. My nails are stronger and my hair thicker and glossier now in peri menopause than it ever was when I was younger. My hairdresser comments every time I go in now at how much healthier and thicker it is and how fast it grows. My mum (80) also uses it and thinks in a lifetime of taking all sorts of supplements its the only thing that has ever made a difference.

Hi - which collagen powders do you and others use that really work? thank you!

Needmilkandbread · 25/01/2025 08:57

I used to use sun beds and sun tan a lot abroad. Whilst I got away with it on my face and limbs, my chest area became very red. A tiny bit of sun now, and it looks burned even thought it’s not. The rest of my skin is neutral, so this is a bizarre looking difference.

I recently found Erborian CC Red Correct. It’s a moisturiser, but it’s green. However when it is rubbed in, the green disappears leaving me normal coloured. It’s such a relief to have my head match my body!

I’ve popped it on my face or hands when they need a smidge and it’s great. Additionally, the small tube you can usually get for around £13 -£16, which doesn’t break the bank if you wanted to try it.

CarrotSeeds · 25/01/2025 08:59

@WLMummy the poster added screenshots further up-thread showing which kind she buys 😊

Itsalwaysfools · 25/01/2025 09:11

Not a new discovery for me but a tret/hydroquinone combo is without doubt the best thing you can do for flawless skin. It's a bit gruelling for a few months but utterly worth it.

LunaTheCat · 25/01/2025 09:51

My omnilux LED mask .. 10 mins 3 - 5 times weekly has completely changed my skin for the better.

AlwaysLookOnTheSnarkSide · 25/01/2025 10:00

I quite fancy an LED mask, does anyone know if any of the cheaper ones are any good? Not sure with the expensive ones if you’re paying for a brand or with the cheaper ones would they not be as effective?

MalleusMaleficarumm · 25/01/2025 10:08

For me it was Estée Lauder advanced night repair. I tried the bottle in the look fantastic advent calendar and it’s made a real difference to my skin. It looks so much better and is so soft and hydrated. Just wish it didn’t have such a hefty price tag!

MerylSqueak · 25/01/2025 10:18

@AlwaysLookOnTheSnarkSide

There's a radio 4 podcast where specialists discuss these here. It concludes some are more worth a try and says which sorts those are.

Sticking a bit of plaster over my 11s overnight instead of botox! I no longer have botox done and my 11s are back with a vengeance. I didn't have high hopes but it works a treat. I stretch the skin out a bit, apply the bit of plaster and in the morning, the 11s are gone!! They gradually reappear again over the course of the day but are nowhere near as pronounced.

Thank you so much for this. I tried it last night with tiny bits of kinesiology tape and the result so far this morning is great.

I'm now sitting here with tape on my marionette lines just in case!

The willpowers collagen is great!

Rattai · 25/01/2025 12:08

My EA order arrived today!!! I'm impressed with the free gift.
I have tried a capsule already...ooooh they feel lovely.
Thanks OP for the heads-up

Peridot1 · 25/01/2025 12:12

@JMAngel1 - and anyone else who wants to try the ceramide capsules - just had a pop up on FB that the EA site currently has 25% off.

3luckystars · 25/01/2025 12:24

Ok ok. I give in.

Elizabeth Arden capsules. Ok. I’ll do it.

JMAngel1 · 25/01/2025 12:27

Collagen and Bio-tin. Transformed my hair and nails!

Back21970 · 25/01/2025 13:11

I have many things now on my wishlist and was trying to do a no spend spell up to Easter 🤔

Googling Windle hair products and Hildun eye pencils as had never even heard of either and I’m a bit of a product junkie.

Keep them coming!

tigerbear · 25/01/2025 14:10

@Cheesypumpkin @Rattai @Peridot1 my EA capsules arrived today too, but no 25% off OR gift 😩
First thoughts on them - seem quite oily? Those who use them, do you use the whole capsule in the morning and another at night, or divide one for both morn and night?

Gatekeeper · 25/01/2025 15:28

DeclineandFall · 24/01/2025 11:54

A cheap one from me -The Ordinary 5% face and body moisturiser - but for my hands. I'm in my 50 sand very fair and despite suncream on them my hand freckles started to look like horrible age spots and my hands were getting a bit wrinkly. This stuff is the only thing that has made a big difference. I have tried all sorts of expensive lotions and potions.

Of PP's suggestions I'd agree collagen definitely helps and I have used face tape on my 11s for years - only takes a few months. Need to keep it up every second night though.

op is it this one ? www.boots.com/the-ordinary-niacinamide-5-face-and-body-emulsion-10348718?src=basket
