For me it was a product I didn’t want to like as it’s very pricey and I had thought over the years it was just a gimmick. Plus I had a really good skincare routine before I started using them (essence, HA serum, vit C, peptide cream, SPF, tretinoin, acid actives etc) and I didn’t really see that I could get much more positive effect than with what I was already using.
But wow, these little capsules (god they’re fiddly and annoying) of Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide oil/serum have massively improved my skin just adding it in as an additional layer after my other serums and before my peptide cream. My crepey under eye skin has completely smoothed out and fine lines on my forehead have gone. My skin tone looks more even and skin looks plumper definitely. I’m also less oily throughout the day. I’m gobsmacked given that it’s such a small amount in the capsule.
Only downside is now I have to find the money to include them in my routine ongoing!

What have you found recently that has been an absolute game changer?

Tretinoin from Monderma. It faded my undereye circles/shadows.

Closely followed by the Korean Laneige lip sleeping mask. A gamechanger for plumper lips.

I'm intrigued by the Elizabeth Arden capsules @JMAngel1 . I'd never thought of trying them before but my interest is piqued by you saying they sorted out crepey undereye skin. Mine has got a lot worse recently so I'm on the look out for a miracle!

Saw then on offer at TK Maxx but that was before Christmas!

Sorry for being a downer! 😩😂

Someone on a Nars blusher post also said Nars weren't great to work for. I guess not many places are. Especially in today's climate, but I was well impressed to hear that where my neice works (in a call centre for I think Octopus???) and they have free food and drinks and the manager tells them to stop work at 4.30 and they just have a chat (I suppose they would prefer to leave early!!!).

What are 11s?

BlackSwan · 13/02/2025 14:17

2 deep vertical wrinkles on the glabella region...
which is the space between your eyebrows ;-)

Chanel cc cream
Hermes blush
One size oil sucker primer
Revlon colorstay cream eyeshadow (beats the expensive brands)
Clio liquid eyeliner (pen)- buy online
Chanel baume essential (used it ages ago but bought new one and really love it, best highlighter stick I have ever found).

Most of it is really pricey but I buy cheap clothes, dye my own hair and don't do any beauty treatments so I guess it balances out. Quite pared back on skincare too- just cleanser, hydrating essence, facial oil and sun serum and all quite cheap.

Hermes blush- tell me more!

Update on the EA capsules. I haven’t used daily as keep forgetting but I did use last night and again this morning and by this evening I had a few tiny little under skin spots on my cheek. I’ve had this before with products and makeup with too much silicone for my skin. I’ll finish the tub off and prob do every other day but won’t be repurchasing.

I really wish they wouldn't put silicone in. It doesn't work for my skin either.

mosaicbrokenhearts · 13/02/2025 21:17

Yep. I only paid £20 something for the tub so not too bad. Will probably finish off on hands and body 😆

OVienna · 13/02/2025 21:24

Anyone use the Jones Road foundation here?

The consistency is like a silk scarf (not just marketing) and it's a fool proof blush you can apply as much as you like and it wouldn't be too much.

I love it, but it's very expensive though you can get refills.

yeah I saw that it is pricey. Probably one of the few things I could afford there.

RoseHarper · 14/02/2025 17:52

EA capsules not a hit for me, only bought 7 days on Vinted, felt nice on skin but broke me out. Shame as liked the idea of them.

L'oreal Evive glycolic shampoo, conditioner, serum (I'm not sure about the lamellar rinsing stuff though). Purchased after seeing it recommended on another thread.

I've been using it for about 5 weeks. My coarse, dry, menopausal hair is noticeably smoother. You don't need a lot of the product, so don't be alarmed at the smallish bottles. It's half price at Superdrug if you have a card.

I've seen excellent reviews for this.
Tried it and, imo, it's not great for fine, straightish, tends-to-greasy hair.
Anything else and it's probably lovely but it was an expensive mistake for me.

My teenage grandchild was a Tesco 'Christmas Colleague' last year and they had free Tesco snacks and drinks in their break room 😁 (and they had a Mother Hen who kept an eye on all the youngsters).

I ve been using boost n blend shampoos for a few years now. Great for fine hair, many products for thickening hair and reasonable prices. Can’t fault them!!

Audiprettier · 23/02/2025 23:10

I will only buy a marine collagen & not a bovine collagen.
They use all sorts of antibiotics in Cows. Not so with marine! But that is just my personal opinion! 🤷🏼‍♀️

I second Monderma tret. It certainly does more than retinol. Medik8 is ok though.

XiCi · 25/02/2025 09:42

Audiprettier Marine collagen is made from the skin/bones of farmed fish and antibiotics are used pretty much universally in fish farming. If you eat meat/fish you will have that exposure anywsy. I use bovine as it has more type 2 collagen which helps with joint & gut health. I've seen a big improvement in hair and nails as well.

Edited

Not all collagen is made from farmed fish. I look for 'wild' marine. Bovine (cows) have had some pretty hideous diseases. Also have you seen Dark Waters? If not - don't!
But yeah tried a few & with hair, skin, joints & nails I really feel/see the difference! There are so many to choose from.

Phase2 · 25/02/2025 18:01

Oh no now I've bought the capsules. And the free gift. Toast for the month.

Do you use lower strength tretinoin under eye? It made my skin so sensitive when I put some there, but I would like to treat the skin under my eyes as it's getting quite dry and crepey. ☹️

Crushed23 · 25/02/2025 18:52

How much collagen are people taking? I aim for 15g a day (as recommended by Dr Gabrielle Lyons) which is 3 scoops of the one I buy. I mix it in with protein shakes, porridge, Greek yoghurt, or just add it to tea.

I've noticed improvement in nails and joints, but not so much skin and hair tbh.

Just to add, I've been taking it for over a year now, and take the marine variety.

Yes! Only 0.025% or lower though. Is yours higher?
