A new thread to share 'shopping from our wardrobes' so we realise we already have nice things to wear and don't need to buy anything else.

Agree that is a gorgeous coat. All the outfits on this thread are lovely, I'd like to shop your wardrobes! And on the subject of shopping, my Bosie jumper arrived. I had secretly been hoping it wouldn't fit so I could send it back and save the money but I think it's just too nice to do that. The colour is amazing, a really vibrant blue. Super soft wool and a lovely chunky knit.

I am slightly worried about how well it will wash but planning to wear it carefully and hopefully not need to wash it too often. Thanks @Netcam for the inspiration!

Really pleased you like it.

I'm sure it won't need that much washing. I'm still wearing mine! With trousers all last week and with a skirt this week, I'm sure I'll carry on wearing it until the weekend.

Eventually mine will get a wash, but I'm going to hand wash this one as it was expensive and such soft wool.

Some of my hand wash jumpers go in the hand wash wool setting in the washing machine, but the more delicate/special ones I hand wash.

@ShopMyWardrobe25 I absolutely love the colours especially of your first photo. Sludgy pinks and purples are 100% my thing (I'm in trouble now if that's just how my screen rendered them!).

I’ve been diligently recording outfits since new year on stylebook and already finding it very interesting. I’m trying to wear all my winter clothes - mainly it’s knitwear - so I can weed out the things I don’t really like anymore. So far 2 cardigans and 1 jumper are going. I’ve really tried to like them but they’re just not quite right. And somehow having things I don’t really like hanging around my wardrobe makes me feel like I don’t have enough, even though I also have lots of things I love.

I like the idea of using the app to help with packing @ShopMyWardrobe25 I’ve got a weekend away in February so I’ll try it then. In the past I’ve also created a board in stylebook with a capsule wardrobe on it, and then duplicated the board several times and deleted things off each one to leave the different outfits I could make from the capsule. That was a good way of helping me see different things I could put together and was quite a fun way to spend an hour!

@WillaDeWord I just love your leather skirt 😍

My WFH outfits from the last couple of days.

There's a packing option on the Whering App @SheSawSeaShore . I also did a summer holiday board & an inspiration board. They really helped me to pack as minimally as possible. I also used the inspiration boards to decide on my 'uniform' . Last spring/summer it was mainly lighter blues & soft whites. I've noticed the same colours coming in again.

I have a confession to make. I found a brushed cashmere cream Jaeger cardigan on the sale rack at M&S the other day & bought it. I've wanted one for a long time after seeing Melissa Murrell wearing hers from Lily Silk frequently on her You Tube videos.

So I wore it yesterday & promptly tipped a tube of smoked paprika over me 🤯
Luckily it washed out ....

@Cantonet lovely outfit. Sometimes sale purchases are worth it if it's something we've wanted for ages.

@SheSawSeaShore, I've been doing the same and am making sure I wear every piece of knitwear I own this winter.

The idea of a holiday packing list sounds good. I often pack a load of things that in theory I could wear together, but by the end the only things I have left don't match and my last few days I'm trying to put together whatever I have left that's clean.

I'd like to pack whole outfits with options, like a pair of trousers with 3 t-shirts specifically to wear with them and actually try and stick to that. The Whering App might help.

Last summer I tried packing things together in outfits but everything got mixed up and I didn't stick to them.

I think such planning would involve a big trying on session of various outfits in advance and recording them on the Whering App in a packing list. And then actually looking at it when getting dressed.

Only problem I find is, it needs a bit of flexibility as sometimes things unexpectedly get dirty, especially trousers, so t-shirts would have to be wearable with more than one pair in case their intended partner trousers end up in the laundry bag.

How are people creating these nice pictures?

Anyway, here's today's outfit for another hospital appointment.

I bought the jumper from Superdry last winter, I've got it in mustard yellow too. They're my absolute favourites. They wash and wear really well and are 100% cotton so they're warm but breathable.

The boots are Reiker, more lightweight and comfy than DMs, and were my Christmas present from DH.

And coated jeans from Vinted last year.

Croft House aubergine wool jumper, Poetry black trousers, Dilling alpaca merino cardigan. Decided to give the Bosie orange jumper a break! Have merino base layers underneath.

Love that outfit, especially the jumper

Thank you for the nice comments re the skirt @shopmywardrobe25 and @SheSawSeaShore. The second most extravagant thing I own but I always feel good in it.

Today's outfit (speaking gig). I do worry that you will all get bored of my outfits. I do re-wear trusty items and outfits to death. Hopefully this thread will encourage me to be a bit more creative with my huge numbers of clothes!

And @DontNeedAnyMoreClothes I am getting my pics from creating outfits on the Whering app (hadn't realized such an app existed before this thread).

I started using the packing list but then panicked and threw everything in the car.
To be fair, I'm doing 5 nights away, 3 locations, multiple different activities at work and for fun so the six pairs of shoes my all be needed.

What I am doing is logging, seeing what I actually reach for and what I'm missing. Have also bought a problematic skirt to see if I can actually find a few solutions for it and get it on an equal footing with other options.
It's the yellow and red woodland check - I think it's working with navy.

Jumper was a Christmas present from DH. I've had another one of the same in lime for a couple of years, which is one of my favourite jumpers.

I have bought a dark green cotton jumpsuits more like a boiler suit which I would wear with trainers. Are jumpsuits only for the young I am 62 and like my fashion. I am debating as to keep it or not

TosstTastic · 15/01/2025 20:18

Age is irrelevant. Does it fit you. Would you have loved it in the past but just age confidence is holding you back.
Can you think of three times you'd wear it?
Dog walk/supermarket/hobby activity/on holiday somewhere your likely to go/week day/ weekend day....

And the age old jumpsuit dilemma whether your clubbing in your teens or at a soiree in your 80s - can you wrestle successfully with it in a toilet cubicle?

Cantonet · 15/01/2025 20:35

Jumpsuits are for any age surely?
Unless you're like me & any tea/coffee have a diuretic effect.

That's a gorgeous check skirt @TosstTastic. And the aubergine jumper is pretty cool @Netcam.

Netcam · 15/01/2025 22:54

I agree jumpsuits can be for any age. I like the look, but would never contemplate wearing one due to the issues involved with going to the toilet.

Especially as I tend to take layers on and off throughout the day.

I'd want one with poppers or a zip in the crutch, which probably wouldn't be very cool!

But if that doesn't bother you, go for it.

Sludge works my colouring. I once had the perfectly toned sludge purple top that I gave away to my mum. Bitter regret!

ShopMyWardrobe25 · 16/01/2025 10:52

Great WFH outfits @SheSawSeaShore and really like your green jumper outfit @DontNeedAnyMoreClothes (esp the texture contrast between coated jeans and cable jumper). The mint blouse with navy and caramel works so well @WillaDeWord - may give me inspiration as a combination in the next couple of days. Now that I've got more clothes updated on the app, the more useful it's becoming (putting outfits together in advance of a day rather than blankly looking at the wardrobes, pre coffee, trying to make a decision / planning clothes for trips away). I have a little time at the weekend available and think I'll try upload more clothes then.

Netcam · 16/01/2025 11:08

Wearing this again today, proper photo instead of Whering App!

Dog walking this morning with heat tech & a very warm DKNY puffer, as it's freezing but sunny. Swopped with my proper hiking boots for the actual walk.

I have been lurking on this thread during coffee breaks today but really felt the need to comment on WillaDeWord's outfit. Teal is one of my best colours apparently but I struggle to wear it somehow, but it looks amazing with camel! Will definitely be trying to create something with similar tones.

I'm on a bit of style discovery journey at the moment as I have lost 5 stone and am still losing weight.

Think the wherring app might help me identify new looks to try.

I love this outfit! Is the jacket from Reiss? Very similar to one I've just bought in the sale so this has given me ideas!

I'm still on my epic multitasking journey and have repacked for the last few days, using the Whering holiday thing.
Let's see how successful I've been, or if I have to rummage in the overflow bag by Sunday.
