A new thread to share 'shopping from our wardrobes' so we realise we already have nice things to wear and don't need to buy anything else.

Good idea about sizing up the tank tops. I think the issue I’ve had is that the shoulder part looks too narrow. They are going to be baggy underarm anyway so worth a shot.

Interesting, I find sizing up often makes them even worse as the waist is too baggy. I don't mind baggy higher up but I'm not keen on a gaping waist.

Loving the colour on this thread. Away for two weeks (holiday and work) and keen to keep packing as light as possible as am travelling between two hotels and three cities) so lots of similar / co-ordinating colours, as always.

What I have worn the last few days to go sight-seeing.

I'm at an event tomorrow, well today, so I'm going for this.
The dress is new but it's the first thing I've bought this year and I was lacking dresses for the slightly milder weather - nearly all mine are either really warm (cord/knitted...) or sleeveless summer dresses. It was £25 in Sainsbury's and looks really nice on.

*two cities and three hotels!

Today's outfit. I'm going to the theatre later, might change coat depending on outside temperature.

Was browsing shopping site yesterday and got all the way to checkout but then closed the window, very proud of myself for resisting.

bendmeoverbackwards · 28/02/2025 00:26

@WillaDeWord is your bag in the left photo from Kaai? I’ve been looking at their bags for a while.

New to this lovely thread - I love clothes and have way too many! I’d definitely like to cut down on spending and wear my wardrobe more.

My downfall is dresses (got loads) and also jackets. I think the right jacket can really make an outfit.

I might think about the Whering app but it seems like a lot of work to get started.

WillaDeWord · 28/02/2025 00:35

@bendmeoverbackwards it is indeed. My favourite bag brand - especially for travelling as the leather is SO hardy and the bags have so many compartments.

I have brought both this one and the Pyramid bag with me on this trip - the Pyramid is perfect as hand luggage. You can chuck it in an overhead locker or on the floor and it still looks good as new.

Whenever I go to Brussels I make a stop at their beautiful shop to browse and potentially purchase. Will be hard to square that activity with my low-buy year this year!

SqueakyDinosaur · 28/02/2025 07:56

I've just looked at the Kaai website and they are offering a free copy of Invisible Women with every purchase in honour of International Women's Day. I love this!

WillaDeWord · 28/02/2025 08:45

Yet another reason for me to love them @SqueakyDinosaur! Though the news also brings me another step closer to an absolutely unnecessary additional Kaai purchase...

Cantonet · 28/02/2025 10:23

Well done @dayslikethese for resisting temptation. I add items to my online basket or 'like' them & there they sit until I invariably get bored of looking at them.

@princessfluffy I think bright colour trousers with a bright top might be a step too far for me! I'm a soft Autumn/soft summer colourway & a largely classic dresser, with a side of boho at times. So a bit of colour goes a long way. Last summer I wore very little colour apart from denim blue, soft white, cream & olive/sienna/tan tones. Essentially the Wrap brochure aesthetic, but done on a budget 🙂

anon2022anon · 28/02/2025 10:44

@Cantonet great idea on the spring wardrobe pictures, which app did you use please? Spring feels so close but so far still 😁

A few outfits here from the last week, I zone in and out of taking photos or using Indyx, but I try! Something was off for me in the last outfit, at the time it felt like the jeans were a smidge too short for the boots, but I don't mind it looking at the pic. Cropped trousers came out yesterday, but they're firmly back in the cupboard today.

The Whering app @anon2022anon.
I really like the contrast of the red coat against your blue denim. Isn't it funny how certain things picture really well? Often the ones you wouldn't expect.

Attached is my outfit of the day.
I'm in my sweatshirt era & I have a confession to make. I've favorited a whip stitch sweatshirt on one of my apps & I found a very similar one in cotton in Tk Maxx yesterday on the last of the sales rail. So I bought it - i'm wearing it today with a very old studded belt.

@Cantonet good find! And yes, it does look like we have the same leopard shopper- River Island? A new years eve sale bargain here.
I always think its a good sign if you get something new, but then you literally wear it straight away, it's the stuff that you keep for a certain occasion that never get worn.

Cantonet · 28/02/2025 16:02

@DontNeedAnyMoreClothes that dress is lovely. Is it a shirt dress?
I find them so easy to wear.

That's very true @anon2022anon.
Also I don't often wear a lot of black nowadays, as it's a bit harsh against my soft colouring. But this was a £10 punt & with a couple of fine gold necklaces to soften it it's not too bad.

dayslikethese1 · 01/03/2025 01:02

Today's outfit. It's so much warmer now, I've been in my lighter coat.

I fell off the wagon of tracking my outfits in February - managed every day in January and then just…stopped. It was really useful though, helped me to see what type of outfit and items of clothes I was wearing most frequently and got me thinking about different variations. February was mainly more of the same so that’s probably why I stopped.

Now that there’s been some sunshine I’m thinking about spring so I might try starting the tracking again for a few weeks. I’ve also picked up my sewing again - I only really started last year and it turns out I’m much more of a spring/summer sew-er. I’ve ordered a pattern and some fabric; my goal for a few years now has been slow fashion and anything I make definitely fits into that category as it takes me an age to decide what to make, which fabric to choose and then actually create it (I finally finished my autumn 2024 dress last week 😆)

Netcam · 01/03/2025 08:16

@anon2022anon, I love the red stripe cardigan with the jeans, they go really well together.

Netcam · 01/03/2025 19:29

Positively spring like today. Went out with a good friend and actually didn't wear a coat. But the merino dress is a no buy relapse, I succumbed to the further reductions in the Brora sale, along with a heavily reduced cardigan in lovely colours and some linen summer trousers.

Decided the year is going to be low buy rather than no buy, as long as it is within my small personal spending budget that I have allocated myself and have actually not used much of over the past few months.

Now I need to save that personal budget for other things as I will need new glasses soon and then in May it's DS2's 21st birthday.

That's a beautiful dress @Netcam.
I'm all in favour of bargainous sale buys that will be worn loads.

I'm still sugaring about with my holiday wardrobe. The latest forecast is ☔ but it will be up to 18°. So a raincoat & trainers it is. I'm trying to gather up 'nice' tops with jeans. So a faux suede shirt, a vintage whistles pointelle twinset, a crochet shirt & a pair of loafers for practicality.

Love the colour of that top cantonet and love the dress netcam

dayslikethese1 · 02/03/2025 12:11

I agree with the 'low buy' not 'no buy'. My own personal rule is not to buy anything new and it has to fit within my 'style' (no more picking up things just cos they're pretty like a magpie essentially) and that seems to work for me. I think if you have some guidelines that work for you that's a good way to avoid impulse buying or ending up with items you don't use.

dayslikethese1 · 02/03/2025 12:14

Today's outfit, very spring-like.
