A new thread to share 'shopping from our wardrobes' so we realise we already have nice things to wear and don't need to buy anything else.

It looks lovely and spring like out there. Great outfits.
I splashed out on some new gym gear last week then went to visit my Mum in hospital and now we both have Covid. Not going to lie, it’s floored me this time round. I’ve been in bed for 3 days straight. Beginning to perk up now.

WillaDeWord · 05/03/2025 08:48

It's snowing where I am, so particularly looking forward to flying home after all your reports of Spring-like weather!

Last week was holiday, this week is work. I have spent / will spend two days in the blue suit and two days in the red suit. The outfits with the yellow trousers are my breakfast/evening outfits: staying in the same hotel as the conference and want to be casual / out of a suit but still groomed for when I bump into any industry friends!

Pleased with how my packing has gone - think I will have worn every item I packed 😊and left plenty of space for the vintage kimonos I have purchased...

tonybennscat · 05/03/2025 18:17

I love those yellow trousers, where are they from?

SqueakyDinosaur · 05/03/2025 19:26

Also, I keep meaning to say, again @WillaDeWord that I love your gold spiral earrings!

I was wondering the same, where in Japan? I lived there for 2 years a long time ago.

Haha, well I half shopped my wardrobe today for a pair of white trousers, brown tights, brown shoes and some masking tape which I teamed with a brown long sleeve t shirt (£5.60 from Tu) and a green wig (Amazon). It's World Book Day folks 😆

anon2022anon · 07/03/2025 20:30

Had a massive listing day on Vinted, and rescued some trousers from the out pile. I remember why they were there- sizing issues- but I still love them! Bloody Zara sizing. Felt like spring!

@Netcam love that colour cardigan

What I'm wearing today (another dress with cranes on it - I do have other clothes, I swear....). It's very swishy (and as it's a wrap dress, risky in breezy conditions...)

@SqueakyDinosaur very pretty, where is that from please? I like storks/ cranes too 😊

anon2022anon · 07/03/2025 22:16

I really like the way you've layered that, I wouldn't have worn it that way and I like it.

SqueakyDinosaur · 07/03/2025 23:19

It was from eShakti about ?5 years ago - their Wayward Fancies sub-brand. I haven't bought from them in a while but their stuff is generally pretty OK.

Thanks, it was my Brora sale bargain, but also a no buy relapse this year. I really like your red jumper with the black and white polka dot trousers, a great combination.

Spring clothes at last, even if only for the weekend until it gets cold again. Silk shirt, denim and sandals.

Sandals? You’re braver than me! Lovely shirt.

WillaDeWord · 09/03/2025 06:33

I too was wearing sandals yesterday @Netcam - felt amazing to get my feet out.

@SqueakyDinosaur I have indeed been in Japan! Tokyo (work) and Kyoto/Miyama (holiday). Was utterly wonderful. Where did you work @Netcam when you were there?

And thank you re earrings Squeaky. They were one of my "new job jewellery" purchases (whenever I get a new role, I buy myself a good piece of jewellery with part of my first paycheck).

@tonybennscat trousers were a charity shop purchase but originally by Forte Forte. They are incredibly useful - wore them again yesterday, was hoping the bright colour would help me get over the jetlag! Together with a cropped shirt and my gold Birkenstocks, I felt very summery.

I have a weekend to relax and then spending a few nights elsewhere in the UK for another conference this week ('tis the season, in my industry). Am currently enjoying the Whering app in terms of outfit planning. Will probably wear something like this.

@WillaDeWord I taught English there from 1998 to 2000. I lived in a place called Hamamatsu and had a great couple of years. You probably stopped at Hamamatsu on the Shinkansen as it is about halfway between Tokyo and Kyoto.

It sounds like you had an amazing time, how fantastic to have an opportunity to travel there with work. What did you like best about Japan?

@WillaDeWord your trouser suits are always very elegant. @Netcam where's your pink & blue shirt from? I just adore the colours 😍

I'm back from my holidays in a fairly rainy/chilly Mallorca. I think I wore all the clothes I packed. Layers were definitely the thing to combat the chill.
Muslin shirts, muslin pjs & the crochet shirt/Whistles pointelle set all packed well without creasing. My faux suede shirt was very useful as a light jacket over a tank top. The locals were all wearing their winter coats & scarfs.

We had a lovely day in Palma & I managed to buy a beautiful heavy linen ( lined with cotton towelling) dressing gown. The fun was trying to squish it all into a tiny bag the following day.

There's a pretty big price differential between Mallorca & the UK. In some cases a £100 difference on some Massimo Dutti items. So it would be well worth travelling there for a weekend shop or for a wardrobe refurb.

anon2022anon · 10/03/2025 11:33

@Cantonet well that's interesting...guess where I have a trip booked for in September! Could be dangerous.

@Cantonet the shirt is a Boden silk Sienna one. I have a few of these in different patterns, all from end of season sales over the years.

And nice to see I wasn't the only 'no/low buy' person who talked about ordering a summer dress on another thread! It must have been that weekend sun that did it!

@Netcam I've been to Japan too, for the rather odd reason that I was launching a ship at the Tamano dockyard! We had a fantastic 2 weeks there with the launch as the finale - Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Tamano and back to Tokyo.

We were so lucky - there was a huge festival in Kyoto with dozens of amazing floats, and a memory festival at one of the Tokyo shrines we went to. And an exhibition of some of the emperor 's netsuke collection. And a Fortuny exhibition! I adored the Intermediatech museum. And Hiroshima art gallery. And the museum and commemoration of the Hiroshima bombing. I'll never forget that.

Whenever anyone asks me what it's like I say it's like being in the past and the future at the same time. I do hope to return one day.

Although as a hefty 5'10" with terrible hair, I did spend the entire time feeling like a very poorly groomed St Bernard dog in a world of tiny sleek ones....

Netcam · 13/03/2025 11:07

@SqueakyDinosaur, your trip sounds amazing, what were you doing that led you to launch a boat?

Hiroshima is incredible, isn't it, probably one of the most important places I've ever visited. And they've rebuilt the city so beautifully too. Did you go to Miyajima island from Hiroshima too?

We had those kinds of festivals in our city where we lived too, it was a big thing for local communities to be involved in. They were great to watch.
