A new thread to share 'shopping from our wardrobes' so we realise we already have nice things to wear and don't need to buy anything else.

@Netcam thank you and @Cantonet thank you for the barrel alternative suggestions

Been lurking on this thread. I've been used Whering since last year and I love it. I've got 278 items on there which I realise is loads but I added all my jewellery and accessories as well. I've worn 90% of it according to my stats though and it's only been a few months. Here's an outfit from this week which I wore going into the office.

I have started the looooooong process of trying on everything I own. I have lost some weight and so can fit back into quite a lot of stuff - this morning, I found 3 dresses and 2 jackets that look actively nice now, so hurrah!

Princessfluffy · 21/02/2025 14:32

@dayslikethese1 a 90% wear rate is super impressive!

@SqueakyDinosaur great idea to try on everything. Do you keep many things in your wardrobe in case you lose or gain weight? I'm trying to only have items that look good on me right now but I do have a favourite pair of pink jeans that I can't comfortably sit down in as too tight but don't want to get rid of them. I find uploading to Whering is useful as if I don't want to upload something I think twice about if I really want to keep it.

dayslikethese1 · 21/02/2025 15:25

My summer stuff is packed away so will have to upload all that and see what can stay when I switch my wardrobe round later in the year. Think I wore most of it last year though. I have a lot of dresses, they're so easy to wear.

I'll join please 👋

WillaDeWord · 21/02/2025 22:14

Last few days I have worn this. Off travelling (part work, part play) for two weeks from tomorrow, so looking forward to doing some wardrobe plotting (and packing) tomorrow morning. I have a small bag but need outfits that will cope with a wide variety of climates and situations!

@WillaDeWord wow another lovely and unusual coat, is this a cape coat?!
Very interesting silhouette.

WillaDeWord · 22/02/2025 07:49

Thank you! It is a cape. I always wear it open, to allow my inner superhero a chance to enjoy itself 😄

Cantonet · 22/02/2025 09:43

That skirt you posted earlier from a charity shop purchase is truly beautiful @WillaDeWord .
Welcome to the new posters and outfits.

I'm trying to hunt through all my storage bags to find a Dolce & gabbana silk 🌹 emblazoned scarf I bought years ago. Silk neckerchiefs appear to be very much in. It would have been a perfect match with my pink cashmere Wrap jumper that I wore yesterday. Hope I haven't tossed it 😳

Some random outfits attached. More tan & blue are creeping in. It was lovely to walk the dog at dusk last night in the milder weather, with only a lightweight trench & minimal layers.

@Cantonet especially loving the blue and tan!

anon2022anon · 22/02/2025 11:20

@Cantonet that blue trench is a beautiful colour

anon2022anon · 22/02/2025 11:23

@WillaDeWord your outfits are doing the opposite of what I need and making me want to shop 😂 your casual dressing is definitely a step up from mine, I really like that outfit and love the coat!
@dayslikethese1 I'm really impressed by 90%! And I dont think 278 is too bad a number- if I pulled everything together, nim almost certain I'd be higher than that, but a much lower % wear rate, unfortunately

anon2022anon · 22/02/2025 11:26

Some recent outfits of mine...there's a definite theme 😂
Couple of days in Newcastle with my 21 year old, and general day to day outfits

@anon2022anon I think we may have matching leopard bags 😁

BLUE + LEOPARD
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I think my favourite discovery from this thread might be the gorgeousness of blur and leopard and tan @Princessfluffy @Cantonet @anon2022anon.

And Anon, thank you for the kind words (and Cantonet too). This thread has definitely helped me reduce my spending but I too am often sorely tempted by others' items!

Off to the airport, where a 13 hour flight awaits me. Aiming for comfort but also trying to prepare for a chilly landing temperature.

Wow leopard Adidas are really trending on this thread, they look fab. Love the flying outfit Willa, how are you planning to style yours Anon?

SqueakyDinosaur · 22/02/2025 17:25

Oh those Liberty shawls are so lovely, aren't they, @WillaDeWord ? I had 2, about 35 years ago, but somewhere along the road I must have disposed of them (fool that I am!). I'm a hardened pashmina user for travel - in fact, one of the things I have given myself permission to buy this year is a replacement dark red one, as my current one is about 20 years old, full of holes and with an unravelling fringe. I think it helps to be tall - I'm 5'10" - as it means that I don't get swamped in it.

SqueakyDinosaur · 22/02/2025 17:28

One of the things this thread has made me reflect on is that a lot of my clothes are re-buys - for example, I can't imagine a world in which I don't own several stripey tops, or wide-leg trousers in various dull shades. This means either that I'm deeply dull and stuck in a rut, or that I just know what I like and what suits me, and it still forms the base of my wardrobe. Not sure which!

Netcam · 22/02/2025 18:34

Weny out for a long walk in the countryside with a friend today, Icebreaker pink coat, Norwegian fisherman's wool jumper, Poetry trousers, Hoka trainers. Slipped over on the mud so most of those are now in the wash, but no injuries.

Came home and wanted comfy lounge gear, Dilling merino jumper, Celtic & Co donegal wool cardigan, Icebreaker merino leggings.

I don't think there's anything wrong with rebuys if you really like something and wear it a lot. They won't last forever.

I have lots of similar items in different colours.
