A new thread to share 'shopping from our wardrobes' so we realise we already have nice things to wear and don't need to buy anything else.

I think using one of the mulberry bags sounds perfect

TosstTastic · 14/02/2025 11:31

I like the idea of the bold yellow and the sludgy green black. You might tie in with the flowers.

Wondering if anyone else is having issues with the Whering App this morning?

My phone did an update last night and today only my items are showing, but my outfits, lookbooks and calendar will not load and display error messages.

OP posts:
Cantonet · 15/02/2025 09:56

I'm having the same issues @Netcam.

I'm having the same issues @Netcam.

Thanks for letting me know. My email doesn't seem to be working on my phone and I can't connect to the website for our local veg box scheme either! Maybe they are not all related to the update.

OP posts:
WillaDeWord · 15/02/2025 10:12

Same issues on Whering for me too @Netcam @Cantonet.

And @SqueakyDinosaur the bag is from Aspinal - I think they do super sturdy bags, though not quite as hard wearing as Kaai, which seem to be able to go through the mill / get chucked in air cabin or train overhead lockers / storage and still look brand new!

Beautiful colour-bombing upthread. Lifted my spirits just looking at it and a lovely way to honour your friend @Princessfluffy.

Netcam · 15/02/2025 10:16

Thanks for the replies. Seems like BT mail is not working for some people either this morning! So issues are unrelated.

Anyway, it's my day to do my laundry and shop my wardrobe for an outfit.

Contemplating the Brora cashmere jumper and Brora cords that I got in the sale at the end of 2024 and haven't worn yet.

Still in bed waiting for DH to bring coffee. We were both exhausted after our week at work so are still not up!

I succumbed to some Brora fingerless gloves in the end of the sale a couple of days ago. I have one pair already and I live in mortal terror of losing them.

tonybennscat · 15/02/2025 11:54

Have been poorly here too with norovirus. Ugh.
Feeling better today so going out for lunch and to test drive a car.Have already had a mercy dash to DM to fix hearing aids.

I’m wearing an A line denim midi skirt from White Stuff, black opaques and black Fitflop F-mode ankle boots and a pale grey cashmere roll neck (Tesco about 10 years ago) and contemplating wearing a peacock blue velvet coat that hasn’t been out of the wardrobe in a few years, inspired by the gorgeous green coat up thread.

The denim skirt and boots combination has been a revitalising boost to my wardrobe as I have a lot of jumpers that are quite short in the body (and I am very long bodied) so they never quite worked for me with jeans. I regret not getting the boots in tan as well.

Cantonet · 15/02/2025 14:32

I always buy Brora wrist warmers too @SqueakyDinosaur . They seem to last for years.

I've been wearing layers of thermals & down coats on rotation this week as attached. It's been so chilly & gloomy without a single glimpse of sun. It was my birthday this week & I was given some money, so I'm afraid I spent it😁

@Cantonet yes, in the sale they were I think only a tenner more than Turtle Doves ones, and I have got through 2 pairs of TD ones acquired at the same time as the current Brora ones, so a false economy!

Netcam · 15/02/2025 17:21

@Cantonet, I consider birthday money permitted spending. What did you buy? And happy birthday 🎂

Nice to hear there are other Brora fans. Well, here's what I chose from the wardrobe, Brora cashmere jumper and Brora cord trousers, with Dilling merino long thermals underneath since it's still freezing.

That's a beautiful lilac jumper @Netcam.
Brora clothes are generally very good quality. I've been disappointed by Turtle doves in the past. I bought two cardigans a few years ago & they developed holes in them after a very short time. The shop used to be beautiful, but now looks very disappointing. It's a shame as a family business run with a lot of care has now been taken over.

@Netcam i bought fairly practical things.
A couple of Uniqlo cropped shirts that looked perfectly ordinary on the website, but were very good quality & a great shape according to an Instagram account I follow - Invest in style.

A cross body small tan leather bag. I've been looking for one for a while.

A Uniqlo powder soft down coat in Olive in the sale. I find them warm, soft & feather light. My black one is a bit battered after I fell over in it.

Brora is brilliant quality but £££££. I also have a lot of Lands End cashmere which is also very good quality - my oldest LE cashmere is coming up for 20 years old and somehow, miraculously, despite my ABSOLUTE BASTARD of a downstairs neighbour 15 years ago causing a massive moth infestation in the whole house, they've survived (thank you, vacuum bags and sticky traps!).

WillaDeWord · 18/02/2025 07:12

Love Brora. Also a fan of N.Peal for cashmere (who have their usual excellent sale on right now).

Today's outfit. Skirt was £10 in a charity shop and perhaps my cheapest item in terms of cost per wear. Livens up daytime dressing (it is very sparkly) and good for celebratory dressing too.

I see Whering just had an update, anyone worked out the new features?!

@Cantonet thanks, it's my first Brora cashmere jumper, it was on offer, wouldn't pay full price. But they do have some lovely clothes, I have quite a few other things from them, all bought in the sales.

No, but I love the purple and green, one of my favourite colour combinations.

Same here, not least because of the Suffragette link!

Princessfluffy · 19/02/2025 23:01

Ooh I hadn't thought about the suffragettes, what a nice link.
Tonight's outfit for a comedy night is below.

I have ordered some barrel jeans in terracotta pink and also in off white. I find it hard to get the fit exactly right with barrel legs but when I get the right pair they work really well shape-wise on me.

I'll probably end up sending both pairs back for fit issues as I find Free People vv inconsistent with their sizing. I'm determined not to keep anything this year unless it is 100% perfect for me. Anyone else a fan of barrel legs? Whose do you rate?

If I do keep a pair of the barrel legs I think I will list some items on Vinted to the equivalent value as I could do with owning fewer items of clothing.

@Princessfluffy fabulous colours, love the green trousers with the pink coat.

OP posts:
Cantonet · 20/02/2025 09:07

@Princessfluffy I love barrel leg trousers/jeans. I have Free People Osaka jeans/cords, the Sienna Miller jeans from this year & the last, plus a heavy denim pair from Uniqlo.
I bought the Free People ones on eBay & I hear you on the sizing - it varies drastically. I had to relist, as a couple of the pairs were massive.
