what do you think of these together?

In my minds eye it looked cool but I’m not convinced.

just wanted to try something a bit different.

I'm not a fan.

Edited to add: you have a great figure but this look really doesn't flatter you.

Newhi · 04/01/2025 14:55

I think the boots are the wrong type, they look a bit like wellies and you’ve popped them on to take the bins out. Ankle length might work better, and in blue or grey. Personally I’m not a fan of blue, black, and grey all together. Are the shorts part of a suit? I think they would look nice for work if you have a more formal dress code for work.

GoldenPineapple15 · 04/01/2025 14:55

I love it . I might be biased because I love boots . Have all lengths and different colours and wear them with everything.

changecandles · 04/01/2025 14:56

Almost. I think the shorts are too poofy. Or maybe too long. Something is not right. But the general idea could work

SantaBakula · 04/01/2025 15:01

I think I'd go for more contrasting colour, and boots with some detail like a buckle/ zip / fur trim or even cowboy style boots

WingBingo · 04/01/2025 15:01

I loved these shorts when I saw them in River Island, I want them to work!

I do dress fairly formal for work. Here they are with my DMs (which need a good dust!)

The shorts are to wide for your frame

hideawayforever · 04/01/2025 15:04

I love it, but it'd the type of outfit that I'd wear.

AreolaGrande · 04/01/2025 15:04

Not a fan.

The shorts are too voluminous, navy tights are just wrong in general and the boots look like wellies.

hideawayforever · 04/01/2025 15:05

I prefer it with the long boots, but both look good

ThisNattyFish · 04/01/2025 15:05

It all looks a bit too big for you, the shorts are very wide and the boots look like flappy wellies.
It looks better in the second picture but I still think the shorts are too wide.

Prettybubblesintheair · 04/01/2025 15:05

I love it! Very in vogue.

HawkersSouth · 04/01/2025 15:06

The shorts aren't a good fit, too wide for your legs. The second look, with Dr martens, would work with cropped or fitted shorts

WingBingo · 04/01/2025 15:06

Oh I love navy, I always think of it as a classy colour.

Different boots again, but I think the consensus is that the shorts don’t work.

They look best with the DMs

WingBingo · 04/01/2025 15:09

I’m 5’10” so I can’t wear short shorts for work, it’s too much. Seems like too much leg!

Daft really.

ThisNattyFish · 04/01/2025 15:11

I feel like if the shorts were an inch or so longer it might be more balanced - what’s the hem like is there enough fabric to let them down and re-hem them a bit longer?

Pigsinblankets13 · 04/01/2025 15:12

Looks best with the DMs

In all honesty the shorts don't do anything for you - it's the shorts, they're unflattering and a bit 'meh'

WingBingo · 04/01/2025 15:16

Thanks all, back they go!

It's the shorts. You have great legs and are obviously on good shape. But those shorts are not working for you.

If you got the right shorts you'd look amazing. They are just too bulky for your frame.

ALunchbox · 04/01/2025 15:17

I like your last photo (and like your style in general!)

Blarn · 04/01/2025 15:18

I'm not sure. I think it's the shorts, the length maybe or they are just a size or two too large for you? They remind me of something Perpetua, Bridget Jones' boss, would have worn.

But if you were moving around rather than stood in front of a mirror they might look OK.

changecandles · 04/01/2025 15:21

I'm be done my best to shorten and depoof the shorts without changing your body.

Can you have the shorts altered

changecandles · 04/01/2025 15:21

It's the proportions

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/01/2025 15:25

I think you could get away with the shorts with DMs and black (not navy) tights. I think the shorts need a longer cardigan or casual blazer worn open over them though, to camouflage the width a bit. Too puffy with a tucked in cardigan imo.
