Some amazing bling in the Gloucester vaults, mostly thanks to Queen Mary (probably not surprisingly)

justasking111 · 26/12/2024 11:44

Jakers that's some bling that the Gloucester's have

Maireas · 26/12/2024 11:46

The next Duchess of Gloucester is a Consultant Paediatrician. I'd love her to wear some of that bling during consultations!

The Duchess seems like a lovely lady, and wears a tiara well!

SqueakyDinosaur · 26/12/2024 17:17

There's a reference to the Kents not managing to keep their tiara collection together. I'm intrigued - do you think it's because the DoG's elder brother died so they didn't have to split the collection, whereas the DoK had to share his with Prince Michael of Kent?

Could be. Wasn't Alice quite a favourite of old Queen Mary as well? Maybe some of Granny's chips came her way.

Thank @Maireas for the new thread!
I'm free today, perhaps they'll let me join for a royal Christmas lunch? I shall report back on what everyone wore and who said what 😆

Do you live in Montecito? 🤭

I can't see Princess Michael not wanting her fair share of jewels! And tbf she does look good in a tiara and full parure.

Maireas · 26/12/2024 18:52

Princess Michael is one of those people who can carry off quite a lot of heavy jewellery. She favours necklaces with quite a lot of gems!

Love how the Welsh is a bit similar to the Irish!

Does Princess Alexandra have family jewellery or did she have to nip to H Samuel. She's another lovely lady.

Saw this youtube video about the making of Princess Sofia of Sweden's 40th birthday shoot.

Thanks, Lunde

Here's a retrospective of Mary's outfits this year. Some really stylish outfits, I like both red dresses with the simple silhouettes.

I don't remember that white dress on Mary. It's a bit Princess Leia but she looks good and has looked appropriately queenly all year.

Fred still looks like he's playing dress-up.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 31/12/2024 12:33

The Elisabeth of Belgium retrospective is good too, she's certainly a striking dresser and isn't afraid to wear strong colours. https://www.newmyroyals.com/2024/12/the-fashion-choices-of-belgiums-crown.html

I thought she was still at Oxford but apparently she's finished her degree and is now doing a masters at Harvard. Clearly a very intelligent young woman!

Thanks, Deftly, I like these retrospectives. I like some of Elisabeth's choices, especially the burgundy velvet dress, and the Ba&sh outfit.

That's the uniform he's stuck with. At least it fits him 😁

Maireas · 31/12/2024 13:17

A bit Princess Leia it is!

RomainingToBeSeen · 31/12/2024 13:24

I don't think Mary has really put a stylish foot wrong this year. She wears some lovely clothes in styles and colours that suit her and are wholly appropriate. She even manages to look fabulous in the traditional Greenland outfit.

I liked her summer dresses in Brazil as well as her more formal gowns.

Maireas · 31/12/2024 13:25

It's been a great year for her, not least style wise.

Talking of Mary, there was an article about her in today's Times:

How Queen Mary is modernising the Danish monarchy.
