The older Caroline gets the more she looks like Grace

I thought Alexandra’s dress was a fright and the colour didn’t suit her.
Charlene’s dress was pretty awful too.
the best was the Chanel that Charlotte was wearing but even that had an extra flounce that was unnecessary.
The red was ok.

Do you think there is a royal wardrobe of children's coats, they are a timeless classic! Princess Anne had great hair.

Serenster · 31/03/2025 22:10

Mary is on a state visit to France - looking stunning in Dior for the welcome ceremony.

That is a lovely suit, Mary looks very chic. I'm not keen on the black accessories, but I love the brooch.

I thought Mary looked great in that Dior suit and very elegant. Lady Penelope was looking rather less elegant in this picture.

And a very typically Mary outfit for the state dinner. She suits the floral skirts and blouses. In one of the pictures that blouse is styled with a pair of jeans and looked equally good.

I don't dislike either piece but I'm not sure about putting them together. And no tiara for the state dinner, tsk tsk Mary!

Pallisers · 31/03/2025 22:54

I love the skirt but I think the camisole part of the blouse is too low down and the blouse itself is too fussy with the lace. Would prefer a different blouse altogether.

eggandonion · 31/03/2025 22:58

Tiara experts.... does one wear a tiara in a Republic?

Pallisers · 31/03/2025 23:05

I don't think tiaras have any royal significance do they? They are just decorative. I imagine there is a etiquette though - they must give out a dress code for these things which presumably includes tiaras optional.

Serenster · 31/03/2025 23:12

Tiaras generally are worn with a white tie dress code, or with black tie if specified that they can be worn. Fred and Macron were wearing lounge suits, so no tiaras. Boo.

(Mary missed a wonderful opportunity to wear her ruby tiara here, sadly - the ruby branches were worn at Napoleon’s coronation!)

eggandonion · 31/03/2025 23:53

If I was head of state of a Republic...we have an election here this year so anything is possible...I would like a tiara.
That way all visitors could wear one too.
I think if I was hosting a state dinner I would like at least black tie.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 01/04/2025 00:13

There's never enough occasions to wear a tiara!

deeahgwitch · 01/04/2025 08:28

Mary looks lovely in that photo.

SqueakyDinosaur · 01/04/2025 09:53

I don't like the evening outfit - too casual, not sleek enough- but the suit is a beauty.

Maireas · 01/04/2025 10:05

Poor Mme Macron! I feel for some of these women, navigating cobbles in high heels like that. I quite like Mary's evening outfit, it's fresh and spring like.

I’m not so sure about Mary’s evening outfit when seen head-on - to me it seems a bit too much Victorian school ma’am or something. I think I prefer Mme Macron’s dress.

I did love Mary’s Dior suit, though, that was perfection.

deeahgwitch · 01/04/2025 12:49

You’re right @RockaLock
looking at it straight on it doesn’t look as nice at all

Maireas · 01/04/2025 12:50

Yes, face on it's a bit much. Perhaps a simpler blouse with that skirt?
Mme Macron does look good, I think that dress is a good choice.
