I don't like that bright red and 60s cabin crew hat on Kate. I think deeper red suits her much better - a tomato shade is hard to carry off.

Not too keen on that shade of red on Catherine - it washes her out a bit. Don't like that bow at all.

Duchess of Gloucester looks lovely today. Sophie sadly missed. Catherine does look tired. Camilla gorgeous shade of pink. The fabric of Anne's coat reminds me of heather on the moors. Don't think I've seen it before.

I wonder why Sophie and Edward weren't there? I saw that it's his birthday today but I'm sure they've attended in previous years.

Love Catherine's coat but not the hat. I agree the Duke of Gloucester looked frail, he took his wife arm to walk up the stairs I don't remember that before.

Camilla looked lovely in pink and I assume the Edinburgh clan were off celebrating his birthday.

Camilla has several pearl chokers so it looks like that one's been designated as Kate's for now. She's worn it several times.

I really don't like the red coat of Kate's. The colour doesn't do her any favours and the bow is awful. Duchess of Gloucester definitely the best dressed today.

She has the exact same coat in black too - wore it either for the Queen's or Prince Philip's funeral, can't remember which.

Sophie is in New York, carrying out engagements. I don't think they cancel events for birthdays!

Now I'm sad! I was picturing Edward surrounded by balloons.

to be a photo of Camilla from the back, but when I saw her on the TV, she had a sort of stripe of satin down the middle of the back of her coat. It was a bit odd

I wonder if whoever speculated that injured their shoulder with that reach? According to the media everything is a "nod" or a "sweet gesture" these days!

The last time Kate wore that coat was for the Korean state visit. Was that a “sweet nod to Canada” then, too …? Sometimes a red coat is just a red coat.

Didn't she also wear it to her carols service once? A nod to Santa?

If it was a nod, she would presumably have worn the maple leaf brooch which she wore a lot on her first official visit to Canada. I mean, I'd have liked it if she did, but it seems a bit of a reach otherwise.
