Mathilde and Leti both looking tres chic here I think. I'm not 100% sure about the placement of Mathilde's hat, but overall I think this is a really good look for her. Love Leti's pearl brooch.

I think King Philippe is blocking Delphine and whatever bonkers ensemble she's wearing, as that's her partner behind him. Then again it looks a sombre occasion so maybe she left the mismatched shoes at home!

KiIIingMeDeftly · 19/02/2025 21:53

Ah there's a photo of her here and when it comes to shoes, Delphine doesn't disappoint!

Here's Delphine's outfit. Fairly low key by her standards, though this was a Mass for Deceased members of the Belgian RF, so a solemn occasion as you say.

That is an interesting shoe choice! The matching scarves as well! 😂

Papergirl1968 · 20/02/2025 21:08

I posted a pic on 18th Feb - can’t even remember who of now - and it still hasn’t been cleared by Mumsnet. It just says hidden till they can have a look at it. 🤷‍♀️
Anyway, here is Leti looking businesslike at a board meeting and Camilla and Charles at a reception at Buckingham Palace.

Camilla in her favourite colour!

And favourite boots!

SqueakyDinosaur · 20/02/2025 23:57

I do love that Camilla is comfortable wearing some fairly whacking great pieces of bling with her day clothes, just as ERII was. I do hope that Kate will become so, and also that she (or even Camilla - crack on love!) will make at least some of the royal jewellery collection into a sort of toffs' jewel library. I'm sure there are sensitivities about not showing off too much, but frankly IMO that's part of what they're there for. Bring on the quarter-pounder diamond brooches, that's what I say!

Pallisers · 21/02/2025 00:09

I'm not from the UK and suspect I would not be a royalist if I were but honestly the jewels seem to me to be the entire POINT of the thing. I think they should raid the treasury and bring it all out. Where are all the Grenville jewels??

I sometimes find myself wondering when Kate wears high street earrings or necklace what the point of it all is? If you have it flaunt it. I'm very much team Queen Mary here.

on another point - does anyone find it a bit odd when you read about Kate wearing a pair of earrings Queen Mary wore or Queen Elizabeth II wore or Diana wore. I know it is illogical but there seems to be something so intimate about earrings - you are putting them in holes in your skin. And you are doing so after other women put them in holes in their skin. Maybe it is just me :)

KiIIingMeDeftly · 21/02/2025 11:17

Kate seems to prefer more understated and delicate jewellery so perhaps Queen Mary's giant jewels are not to her taste!

Maireas · 21/02/2025 11:19

Yep. The Mary of Teck approach is quite full on. Kudos to anyone, though, who wore a tiara to dinner every single evening #goals.

Dainty jewellery is in at the moment. Multi bracelets, stacking rings. Delicate necklaces of differing lengths. Earrings are either studs or long drops.

De Beers must be gnashing their teeth

eggandonion · 21/02/2025 13:21

Charlotte and Lilibet would love messing with the old jewels.
So would I!

Here's Leti in a favourite coat, and a repeat Cortona dress. I'm never keen on grey, but the cut and fit are great. Lovely earrings.

Well hopefully the holes in the skin have healed so it’s not like they are touching flesh as it were. Clean the posts with a bit of alcohol and you are good to go. People wear hand me down clothes. What’s wrong with jewellery 🤷‍♀️

Very demure very mindful for Delphine, who I am low key obsessed with .

I think the old earrings are screw ons or clips rather than pierced

Serenster · 21/02/2025 18:40

Yes, I don’t think Mary even had pierced ears, so she never wore drop earrings.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 21/02/2025 19:12

They look pierced here. I don't think clip-ons would stay on if they were worn that low.

StartupRepair · 21/02/2025 21:10

Definitely Team Queen Mary here. Would love to see Camilla and Kate regularly festooned.

SqueakyDinosaur · 22/02/2025 01:29

If Kate wanted to she could have fun with the jewellery box. E.g. a dress with a very low back, with lots of long necklaces worn with the long bit hanging on her back not her front. Enormous brooches parading down the front of a dress like giant buttons (admittedly, you'd need a buckram panel or similar to stop them destroying the dress, but it's doable). Bracelets to the elbow.

Remember all the hooha when Diana made a choker into a headband? MORE of that sort of thing!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 22/02/2025 03:30

I hope Kate will start wearing brooches the late HMQ way - as a subtle way of saying something.
Remember when QEII met Trump the first time he was President 😂

I think Diana was more fashion-forward and loved experimenting. Plus it was the 80s - bling and excess was de rigueur! Kate, although definitely into clothes, plays it a bit safer and I guess it's not really the done thing to be dripping in diamonds anymore.

Papergirl1968 · 22/02/2025 21:31

Amalia on her first solo engagement, christening a ship.
I’m not sure about the polo neck and the colour of it and the coat seem to clash with the suit a bit. She’s wearing very high heels. I could perhaps have managed those at 21. Not now at 56!
She’s also wearing a hair band.
