Nicest ever perfume

In your opinion what is the nicest ever perfume?

Not sure I can commit to my favourite, it changes so often. I have recently got back into Jean Paul Gaultier and it reminds me of my care free youth.

There's a scent doing the rounds at the minute that makes me physically ill. Baccarat Rouge 540. There are numerous dupes of it too, feel like I can't escape it at work. Can cause me to have a migraine, feel nauseous, it's the only perfume that has ever done that to me. Seems to be a firm favourite with the young women I come in contact with.

Had forgotten Frederic Malle. Particularly the intriguingly problematic Dans Tes Bras. And summer after summer with Lipstick Rose. (And a lovely afternoon in Liverpool wafting around in the body cream and hair perfume after sampling them in Harvey Nichols. It felt wonderfully luxurious.)

This must be the first Christmas in years that I’m not wearing Serge Lutens’ Jeux de peau. Trial separation, hopefully not a permanent break up …

Mmm this has reminded me that I love Dans Tes Bras. Why problematic ?

@happygertie

Agree about feeling ill off the smell of Baccarat Rouge it's very expensive as well

Liz Earle No 15! Although it doesn't seem to last like it used to! Anyone with me?

Overtheatlantic · 29/12/2024 21:31

Sorry, Rozen

BDK Tubereuse Imperiale

Ridiculously expensive, I got a tester in a samples selection and totally fell in love with it.

Glitchymn1 · 29/12/2024 21:43

Baccarat Rouge
I used to love Givenchy Indecence. Love amber/woody.
Love J’adore, Estée Lauder Sensuous, Chanel coco too.
Loved Givenchy Amarige Mariage too. DM still has the body cream.

Gucci did a perfume that I can't remember the name of, it may have just been Gucci. I was given my first bottle by Julie Burchill! I loved it but they stopped doing it. The bastards. I also loved the original Prada which they stopped and they've stopped Infusion d'Iris but I've picked that up on eBay. I'll always love Opium and Chanel No.5 as they were my first loves in my youth, made me feel incredibly grown up and I still wear them now. Opium gets all of the "You smell gorgeous" especially from men. Rive Gauche by YSL was also a favourite and at the cheaper end so I'd have that as a daytime and Opium as the nighttime.

In recent years I've fallen slightly in love with Flower Bomb by Victor and Rolf.

If I was only allowed one perfume for ever and ever - and had the money for an unlimited supply, it would have to be Chanel No.5.

@SpikedTea and @mrsld1985 it's not often I see people mention Amor Amor. I tried it on holiday about 20 years ago and I've been hooked ever since, it's gorgeous.

@Blondiney I'm the same, I'm afraid to count my perfume bottles lol.

The perfume I've been getting loads of compliments on recently is Britney Spears Fantasy- the pink bottle.

I did have a sample of Juliette has a gun Magnolia Bliss- this smelt amazing but I felt it had no staying power on me so couldn't justify buying a full size bottle.

Kittiwakeup · 29/12/2024 23:43

I like the initial smell of Juliette, the most recent one from Juliette has a gun. It just doesn't seem to last though.

Great thread. Did Stella Mcc range discontinue as loved it. I like Coach floral. CK one is lovely too

deeahgwitch · 30/12/2024 00:16

So many perfumes mentioned on this thread I can't abide :
Baccarat Rouge
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle
Opium
Pomegranate Noir
Rive Gauche
Nina Ricci L'air du temps
Tom Ford Black Orchid
Calvin Klein Eternity
Thierry Mugler Angel - I detest it- not sure it has been mentioned.
There must be a common ingredient in them all that I just don't like.

GellerYeller · 30/12/2024 00:39

I would love some Halfeti!
When younger, I liked Opium and Ralph Lauren Safari and I’ve stuck with Coco Chanel as my signature.
I used to wear Kenzo Jungle L’Elephant but I think it’s discontinued. That’s the one that got the most ‘you smell great’ comments for me. Same goes for Body Shop Mostly Musk oil. Also long gone!
I also love DH’s Chanel Bleu for daytime.

squishyarms · 30/12/2024 00:44

CK One
Molten Brown Milk Musk
Glossier You

All completely different but all perfect for different occasions
