Has anyone tried the Hermes Rhubarb Ecarlate? Toying with ordering a bottle. I tried it on a paper stick thing in duty free a while ago and loved it, but online reviews say the longevity is rubbish (probably to be expected with a rhubarb scent, I suppose).

John Lewis have got Arizona Bloom on offer too. Tempted to get that after all the love for it on here! I’ve had a sample before and it’s lovely.

SabrinaPrune · 08/02/2025 13:02

SOTD Tauer incense extreme

finished the 4160 box, no stand outs in the last few days and the final one was another scrubber.

out and about but will make a list for swaps latet

ive decided what I’m missing from my current selection is a rose. I want it to smell like rose and nothing else (especially not peony). Recommendations?

Cantonet · 08/02/2025 13:09

@SabrinaPrune Malle's Une Rose & La Fille de Berlin are my true Roses.
Clinique Wrappings is my scent today. I'm down to my very last bottle.

AprilLady · 08/02/2025 13:41

@SabrinaPrune I’m a big rose fan. Love both the two mentioned by @Cantonet They are both rich, quite boozy roses. For straight up rose my favourite is Diptyque Eau Rose. Paul Smith’s rose is a very affordable alternative, but has very little longevity.

SOTD is Ormonde Jayne Damask - sort of similar to Delina, but a bit more grown up somehow. Rose, but very different to the ones mentioned above. Very good longevity and decent sillage.

fromthevault · 08/02/2025 14:00

Anothe big rose fan here. SOTD is Tauer's Incense Rose, which is my favourite kind of rose scent - spicy, dark and slightly sour.

I also adore Clinique Beyond Rose which is very much in the same vein, and Tauer Une Rose Chypree, which I wore on my wedding day. Both sadly discontinued but worth seeking out imo. I was obsessed with La Fille de Berlin for a good while, but haven't worn it for ages, might dig it out this weekend. Paul Smith is a great everyday soliflore - sweet, fresh and simple. Penhaligon's Elizabethan Rose is another goodie.

fromthevault · 08/02/2025 14:08

@CorneliaStreet I am a sucker for rhubarb in any context (just roasted some with ginger this very morning!) and do like the Hermes one, but as you say longevity is an issue as it's really a cologne, I think. Lovely for a spritz on a warm day though.

4160T's Rhubarb and Citrus is a nice alternative imo, with better staying power, although DH hates me wearing it because he says it smells of weed 😁

AprilLady · 08/02/2025 14:08

@fromthevault I’m jealous. I’ve been looking (without success) for Tauer’s Une Rose Chypree for ages. Do let me know if you come across it anywhere.

I do like Incense Rose too. I also have his Rose Flash (also now discontinued I think) Wore that a few days ago for the first time in a while and thoroughly enjoyed it.

fromthevault · 08/02/2025 14:27

Yes, it's a such shame that the Tauerville range is also discontinued now! Rose Flash was always a wee bit too jammy and sweet for me, but I do love Vanilla and Patch Flash, super-cosy and comforting both.

There's a bottle of Chypree on ebay, but for silly money. I think I'll be treasuring mine down to the last few drops...

CorneliaStreet · 08/02/2025 14:38

@fromthevault I’ve had a sample of Rhubarb & Citrus before and it smells of weed to me too. I didn’t dare wear it out of the house!

I'm.not usually a rose fan but matiere premiere radical rose is lovely.

Magpiecomplex · 08/02/2025 16:44

4160s Dark Queen today. I need to be in a specific mood to wear this one, it's a bit of a man-eater. 🤣

paristotokyo · 08/02/2025 16:51

LBTY wild rosinda, the only one I really like from the ones I've tested from Liberty. Haven't used it much this winter as have been preferring more gourmand scents but I really do like it

potplantsinparadise · 08/02/2025 17:53

Tried on a bunch of stuff in Liberty today. From Perfumer H: 'Gold' went on gorgeously, but then dried down into a very thin neroli; think I actually liked their 'Neroli' one more in the dry down. 'Rain Wood' was just gorgeous.

'Royal Oud' by Creed - amazing amazing, kind of oud but also some kind of green sap in there? So expensive tho.

'Ianthe Oud' by LBTY - more powdery than I thought it would be so no thank-you.

IDontHateRainbows · 08/02/2025 22:03

Tried the zara dupe for vanilla powder, immortal vanilla today, to see how it compares. Scent smells almost identical at first but fades quickly. If I wasn't so noseblind I'd probably say it's a good dupe. Feels a bit weak to me after the real thing. But alas! The real thing costs £165 a bottle compared to less than £20.

IDontHateRainbows · 10/02/2025 08:13

Ds durga cowboy grass from the 6 box set
Impressed with the set, perfumes are spray not dab on.
Cowboy grass is zingy with some sweetness. It's growing on me. Don't know if it'll be a love, certainly a like.

Looking forward to trying the others later, coriander, pistachio, jazmin Yucatan, radio bombay, debaser and I Don’t Know What.

Feel like I've got reasonable value for monet here, 6 x 10ml for £160 reduced from £200

Magpiecomplex · 10/02/2025 17:39

4160Ts Burnt Cedar Rainbow Doves for a conference today, didn't want to be overpowering.

IDontHateRainbows · 10/02/2025 19:15

Decided the cowboy grass was too sharp. Pistachio is lovely, rich and deep. It has patchouli in it which I don't usually like. But it works well in this.

MiaN · 10/02/2025 19:18

Jo Malone Orange Marmalade. Love it bit as nearly all citruses does not last

potplantsinparadise · 10/02/2025 21:28

@IDontHateRainbows Oh I love Cowboy Grass (should you wish to rehome it). @MiaN Orange Marmalade is lush too - I like to wear it before bed - the woody drydown is really nice for sleep.

PM'd you @potplantsinparadise as yes I would b open to rehoming it!

SOTD La Fille de Berlin, inspired by upthread discussion!

IDontHateRainbows · 11/02/2025 20:07

Combo of debaser and mat prem parisian musc today which is my fave combo.

I said upthread that I'd replaced junk food with perfume huffing.... I found out this is a very very common experience with mounjaro which I started at just the same time my perfume addiction took off! Lots of posters on a perfume forum I'm on had similar experiences, many.of them not really interested in perfume before. How uncanny! Thought it was just me. It's like the pleasure centre in the brain switches over to smell as a weird side effect. Ah well I'm 1.5 stone lighter, even if the wallet isn't.

paristotokyo · 11/02/2025 21:27

I had a lovely time mooching in space nk and sephora yesterday sniffing all these different fragrances. I sprayed so many that I couldn't work out what was what by the end but I smelt amazing whatever combination it was 😂 tonights samples lucky dip came up with bianco latte which I'm pleased with because soon I won't want to wear it when the weather (hopefully) warms up. I think some people smell rubber with this but it's a delicious creamy sweet vanilla on me and I've really enjoyed.

potplantsinparadise · 11/02/2025 22:04

A lovely perfume day - fave DS & Durga Cowboy Grass is incoming :) and I also scooped up a mini Jo Malone Hinoki & Cedarwood, which I think is like a spa in a fancy hotel. February has been miserable so far so really looking forward to having these two scents on hand.

IDontHateRainbows · 11/02/2025 23:00
