Mon Guerlain today. I think this is my all time favourite perfume. It’s the lavender vanilla combo, I just find it really comforting. (Also love Burberry Goddess and Lush Sleepy, but Mon Guerlain is the best.)

IDontHateRainbows · 30/01/2025 20:00

Sana Jardin Vanilla Nomad today. This is the one that reminds me of Ricola Cough Sweets. Its an unusual take on vanilla, kind of herby, I like it it makes a change from sweet gourmands but it's not something I could wear every day.

Not a great fan of Sana Jardin generally, this is the only one I really like.

4160T's Barnes 7 Afterparty today, the last of the January Joy Box. I really like this! I think it might be described as a lipstick scent, got a strong violet note to it. Of the whole set, I think Absolute Filth and this one are the two I'd like big bottles of.

IDontHateRainbows · 31/01/2025 09:33

DS and Durga day today - WFH so I can stink the place out with impunity! Radio Bombay on the left hand - wasn't sure about this when I first tested it but now I like it. On the right hand I have debaser. Some of their scents are a bit random but I like the creativity of this house.

Space NK doing 20% off £100 today if anyone has their eye on any purchases. I'm tempted to get the DS box of 6 but I really shouldn't

Deathraystare · 31/01/2025 09:57

D>S & Durga Cowboy Grass. Love this! Love Vetiver!

@IDontHateRainbows Which did you prefer? I think I preferred Debaser to the Bombay one.

CorneliaStreet · 31/01/2025 10:21

Gallivant Los Angeles today. Love the pineapple note in this and it has really good longevity too.

Usually I would have thought the Debaser but for some reason the Bombay Radio is really hitting the spot today. So tempted now to get the set at £160 with the 20% discount at Space NK - it's £229 at liberty so nearly £70 cheaper.

IDontHateRainbows · 01/02/2025 12:48

Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille today, although I'm not feeling very well and it's quite a heady scent. Maybe I should have gone for something a bit lighter or (gasp) skipped it completely

fivebyfivebuffy · 01/02/2025 12:51

Picked up the perfume parlour angel share dupe, really pleased with it
I thought it was a bit too smoky at first but 15 mins later it's almost perfect

@IDontHateRainbows

Hmm Quite like Radio Bombay but think I like Debaser better and Cowboy Grass!

I may have bought the box set. It's my birthday next week, early present...

Continuing with the matiere premiere samples - I have my first scrubber - french flower which is supposedly tuberose but its very screechy and headache inducing to my nose - smells very fizzy and synthetic like opening a 50p bottle of cheap pop from the corner shop. This one really lets the brand down in my eyes (nose?) but we are all different and I bet somewhere, someone else loves it.

On the other hand is crystal saffron, lovely saffron note to start but gives way to a synthetic ambroxan finish. I do quite like it - I don't know why.

All in all I'm finding this a strange brand - the scents are unashamedly synthetic smelling despite using raw ingredients (Aurelin the perfumer grows his own roses). But it seems to combine with some unnatural elements to create these fizzy, chemically effects. Even Vanillla Powder which I love, smells like cookies baking rather than fresh vanilla in a field.

Faves so far - Santal Austral, Parisian Musc and Vanilla Powder

didn't get on with the orange neroli, french flower, radical rose or falcon leather.
I advise anyone interested in MP to definitely get the sampler first!

Yep I absolutely love French Flower! But I do know what you mean..I find once it's settled a bit it's not as harsh
I also love Crystal Saffron but I find this hard to wear as I find it very screechy! But there is something about it I'm drawn to..
I know what you mean about the brand, I find although they all smell very different, they have the same underlying DNA..

IDontHateRainbows · 01/02/2025 15:55

French flower I had to scrub off and could still smell it later.. total beast.

Opposite of Byredo where nothing lasts long, I don't know which is better as mat prem I'm always scared to wear to work in case it's too obvious

Sorry about the multiple posts there, bad wifi where I am

CP1978 · 01/02/2025 17:54

@IDontHateRainbows Byredo is dreadful for performance! I love Gypsy Water but it just vanishes after about 20 minutes! Madness for the price..

Mackemlass79 · 01/02/2025 20:53

Evening ladies been a bit missing jn action recently but have been reading posts scent of the day for me today is Tom Ford plum japanais I'm just blindly dipping into my vast samples/under 10ml sizes each day at min so could pull out anything from body shop and jogj street cheapies to well who knows as I have literally no idea anymore what is in the box but a little surprise each morning to kick off February so why not

TooMuchDontCare · 01/02/2025 21:26

This evening I'm trying a sample of Le Labo The Noir & really quite enjoying it!

It has a hint of Santal 33 i think?

I have bottles of Bergamote 22 & Another 13 & i might consider a small 10ml of The Noir.

IDontHateRainbows · 01/02/2025 21:45

More Tom Ford tobacco vanille for me, went out and it felt an appropriate going out scent.

I do love it. Got a sample on perfumista.

CP1978 · 02/02/2025 07:44

SOTD is Paris Corner December Vanilla. A beautiful boozy rum, spicy vanilla.. it's so perfect for the freezing weather today!

MiaN · 02/02/2025 08:34

I have not spend anything on perfumes in January and I am really happy with that. I am wearing more or my favourites then testing new thins - I think this is also good. I think in february I will test one a day but lets see. BTW - the bal d'afrique magic worked for me as I got an offer. I am actually thinking I will likely get another next week and will have two to choose from.

I wore Zara Vetiver Pamplemousse yesterday - fresh grapefruit, very realistic, lasts a minute. It's really for work from home days where in 3 o'clock you don't want to eat chocolate but want something to give you bit of a energy and get you through the day. I want to try the new version but have not seen it in Store yet.

IDontHateRainbows · 02/02/2025 09:11

Well done @MiaN it is a rather addictive hobby and I should probably calm it down at some point but not yet!

I did get the DS and Durga box set but it's staying sealed until my birthday in a week's time.
Meanwhile I've been buying the fragrance ACs off ebay to split and sell and fund my hobby! A lot of the prices have come down now eg HN, harrods as sellers realise they are not shifting

Mumbai noise today, back to an old favorite. I got so nose blind with this at first, not worn it for a while and it smells strong and distinct. So the cure for noseblindness, if a detox isn't an option, is to rotate between different styles of perfume it seems

MiaN · 02/02/2025 09:42

I forgot to say about today - scent of the day Chanel Chance Eau Tendre. It's lovely, I think Mojave Ghost fans may like it. It's very pretty, shampoo fresh - one of them have little bit rose in it, the edt does not. I have and love both the EDT and EDP. It also has the vibe of BDK Bouquet de Hongrie. They are not dupes but have this clean and pretty vibe that is more like expensive hair product then cleaning/shower.

Magpiecomplex · 02/02/2025 10:58

Amouage Sunshine Man today. I love the cheerful sweet citrus in this.
