Amouage Sunshine Man today. I love the cheerful sweet citrus in this.

I smelt that in Selfridges before Xmas. It's very nice, It was the only one of the range I really liked.

Going out later so I've chosen Mojave Ghost Absolu to wear today. May have to top it up before I leave though.

Do you find the mo ghost absolu isn't quite as long lasting as promised? I love the original MG but it's very fleeting. Hoping MGA is a bit longer lasting

IDontHateRainbows · 02/02/2025 12:48

Maybe off topic, but since getting heavily into perfumes, I've noticed I'm eating a lot less junk food, especially in the evening. I used to have things like chocolate and sweets not out of any hunger but more for tye sensory experience. Now, I just play with all my perfume samples and that's replaced the need to snack somehow. Delighted as I've lost a few pounds! Has anyone else experienced this?

No, but maybe I should!

It's definitely better. I also used the MG body wash to give it an extra boost. It's never going to be a powerful scent though. That said it's hard to judge how it smells to others. I wore it the other week and someone asked me what it was which nobody ever did with the original MG so it must be more noticeable.

Le labo rose 31 today. This one's a small sample I totally forgot I had. A woody rose which I prefer over a traditional very floral rose fragrance. It's mixed with notes of cedar and vetiver which make it more interesting. Will continue to sample this one to see how it develops but upon first try I really like it. Really enjoying le labo recently which I'm rediscovering.

IDontHateRainbows · 02/02/2025 21:41

I've combined mumbai noise with mat prem vanilla powder - on paper it should work, and when I've combined mumbai noise with other vanillas eg vanilla 28 it has blended well but I have to admit that this isn't working well as a combo. Vanilla powder is more complex than your average vanilla with the coconut/palo santo and as such should probably be left well alone!

MiaN · 03/02/2025 06:56

I have list of things I want to try on Zara!

I skin tested last night Oribe set. Only 3 of them
Deserland - for the pencil shavings skin type of scent, not for me
Valley of flowers - I like rose scents only if they remain smelling like simple fresh rose. This has more going on.
Cote d'Azur - I will give it full day test tomorrow- lovely fresh and clean, soft scent

MiaN · 03/02/2025 07:16

Jo Malone White Moss and Snowdrop for today. Perfect February scent

Deathraystare · 03/02/2025 08:12

DS & Durga Bowmakers . Not sure... it's woody alright. Like pencil shavings. Not sure if it softens down or not, could not really smell it just now, so had another spritz!

potplantsinparadise · 03/02/2025 09:47

@Deathraystare Oh I love Bowmakers - makes me think of violins and resin. Think it would pair nicely with another, simpler, woody scent.

IDontHateRainbows · 03/02/2025 09:59

Liberty hera Reigns today, love this scent and it makes me feel professional, on it and a little bit regal as the name suggests.

Also tried sana jardin berber blonde on the other hand, but I'm not a fan
Getting haze air freshener vines and not on a good way. I find Sana Jardin quite hit and miss. Mainly miss.

MiaN · 03/02/2025 11:14

Sana Jardin is firm miss for me

Lurkingshark · 03/02/2025 12:58

Vilhelm purple fig for me. Quite an old fashioned start with a green undertone I can’t identify. I stuck some vanilla over the top which is quite nice, but a terrible way to try new fragrance.

paristotokyo · 03/02/2025 13:25

Le labo rose 31 again today. I think it's nice but not special enough to purchase a larger size especially considering how expensive it is. Will gladly use up the sample and would be happy to see it in a kit or beauty box.

IDontHateRainbows · 03/02/2025 16:21

A successful perfume-in-the-office day. colleague asked what I was wearing ( penhaligon's babylon by then, having scrubbed off this mornings sprays in favour of something a bit more office friendly - I went in at lunchtime) and she's a fellow perfumista and a fan of what I had on

I always worry about being too pungent at work and I know it only takes one person to not like it/get a headache etc but luckily only the two of us in today.

paristotokyo · 03/02/2025 18:26

Keeping in theme with my le labo week.. they've announced a new fragrance.

“Picture a place so vast, so remote, you can journey weeks without encountering another soul. Endless miles of rolling red sand, endless miles of sky. In the unforgiving heat, a lone white tree on the next horizon can feel like an illusion. But the eucalyptus is the oasis, a waystation where tumbleweeds and rusting dust come to settle in the hallowed shade of silver leaves.

This is the inspiration for EUCALYPTUS 20, the unambiguous scent of vastness, where the freshness of eucalyptus and cedarwood is softened by the leathery warmth of labdanum and grounded on a bed of musk notes and frankincense. And so, with this scent comes an invitation: Get off the grid”

Not sure what I think of a eucalyptus fragrance, will smell medicinal maybe?

It doesn't sound in any way appealing. Maybe for those who like fresh aquatics. I'm more the other end of the spectrum, sweet spicy gourmands

MiaN · 04/02/2025 06:17

Arizona Bloom for me today, smells like warm skin after sea swim. Salty, slight coconut from sun protection, warm - I love it. I love sea swimming in the summer and this time of the year I crave it

IDontHateRainbows · 04/02/2025 07:51

A figgy day today so mat prem parisian musc with a spritz of ds durga debaser on top. I seem to be moving away from the heavy gourmands a little, maybe as we are getting to the end of winter and spring is on the horizon?

These two scents combine really well in my opinion the mat prem a but softer and sweeter which balances the sharper fig of the debaser perfectly

Magpiecomplex · 04/02/2025 17:38

Penhaligons Luna again today. I'd stopped wearing this for a while and am now remembering how much I love it!

FestivelyScent · 04/02/2025 23:26

SOTD today was Serge Lutens Arabie. Prunol and spices. Perfect for winter (Christmas especially) - I have always been very seasonal when it comes to fragrance ❄️😊

IDontHateRainbows · 05/02/2025 08:34

Parisian musc again. Perfect example of a scent that has grown on me, was not a fan at first. Shame that mat prem minis are so small at 6ml, so runs out quickly.

SabrinaPrune · 05/02/2025 13:55

Still ploughing through the 4160s January joy box after pausing on Choose The Bear which i really like despite the stupid name. Opening is exactly the same as shadowed veil but it develops into something completely different and incense based not unlike White Queen.

Slayer: meh, fine. Layered Mojave Ghost over the top and that worked well. I’m surprised by comments upthread about MG not lasting long - on me it’s the opposite and half my clothes stink of it, I definitely don’t need the extract.

then today Invite Me In which I don’t like despite the great name! I don’t get any rose for this at all, but a vaguely soapy patchouli that has now started to develop into a stale morning-after cloyingness. Will scrub and see what the penultimate one is like. Winners for me so far are Metaphysical, Shadowed Veil/Choose the Bear, and Chocolate Ginger.

This is my absolute Summer staple, it's such a stunning fragrance. To me it smells like a Summery version of Le Labo Another 13.. cannot wait for the weather to warm up so I can wear it!
