I need to use up some so many of my okser perfumes so apologies my sotd will likely be very boring most days however I do have newer scents also and some pp dupes of newer scents so aim to mix it up but I need some of my larger bottles of older scents used up and this thread inspires me to od just that as there are so many now on my wishlist

Millymollymine · 07/12/2024 22:19

SOTD was one of my samples from fragrancesample Tom Ford Lost Cherry… I didn’t want to like it because of the price point but I love it… had to reapply once during the day to keep it going but love the sweet, vanilla, boozy smell

paristotokyo · 07/12/2024 22:45

Evening scent went back to the kayali discovery set to try utopia vanilla coco. Really don't like it and just looked it up and seen the white florals in this one which I don't like in a fragrance. For a name like vanilla coco I was expecting more vanilla and coconut! Working through the set slowly but I think I already know I don't vibe with this brand. It's been fun experimenting though

I thought it would be more of a vanilla/ cocoa scent...a dark, chocolately take on vanilla. Im not a fan of coconut scents massively.

Also disappointed with Kayali , will stick with the vanilla 28 but not try any others.

paristotokyo · 07/12/2024 22:59

@IDontHateRainbows a dark chocolatey take on vanilla sounds lush! I'd wear that..

Magpiecomplex · 07/12/2024 22:59

SOTD Ånd Beån. I'd forgotten quite how nice this is - hopefully I'll get a bottle for Christmas!

Prettydisgustingactually · 07/12/2024 23:14

Fascinated by this thread! I love perfume but usually play safe with ones I always wear as they’re so expensive to get wrong.

Would love to try something rare that not everyone wears. I’ve literally never heard of the majority mentioned here.

destiel00 · 07/12/2024 23:18

Sotd skylar vanilla sky
It's got a lovely cappuccino note

This thread is encouraging me to put perfume on every day, hopefully it does for you too!

I have turned around the car and been late for work because I cannot go out without perfume on.

I’m very safe with perfume brands. I wore V&R Flowerbomb for years & only moved on because I stopped smelling it on me. I then moved on to Jo Malone which introduced me to more expensive ones. I always walked past Penhaligon’s shops longingly but it was only after reading threads on MN & Fragrantica that I felt confident enough to go in & purchase my first. Now I’m working through their scent library & heading towards bankruptcy 😂 I have my eye on a couple more more there & then I want to try other brands. I need to remember it’s a marathon not a sprint or I’ll go crazy & buy it all now.

Hi everyone! Just checking in so I can find the thread!

MiaN · 08/12/2024 06:51

Guys, if you have over 5 perfumes - consider keeping them cool/ish temperature (not next to your heater) away direct light so they last you long. And that some of the advents with drawers like SpaceNK perfume or all Liberty/Harrods beauty - those are great to organise your beauty items. If you are not selling the empty box, I keep them instead of buying plastic organiser and they last years.

I am not sure what I will wear today possibly Ginger Biscuit. I had slice of christmas gingerbread yesterday, freshly baked and I thought that Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit does smell like christmas gingerbread a lot, they are not as sweet smelling like Ikea ginger biscuits in box, there is more spice to it.

We are putting the Christmas tree up today. So clean up, put the tree up, bath and going out - I may go for something like Queen of The Night Merchant of Venice later. That's another gorgeous grown up winter vanilla, just as Babylon is to me.

I keep a few samples in my bag to avoid this situation, all with different scent profiles to suit different moods...i feel almost naked if I don't have perfume on now. Perfume does the same to my mood as music, it instantly lifts me up and make me feel confident and invisible, if it's the right one of course

I’ve never heard of Penhaligon before. Where are their shops located please?

They have shops dotted all over. And have one in most big cities. They also have an online store where you can get the discovery sets.

They are a long established perfumer, but only become popular again in the last couple of years. I used to walk past their shop all the time in my twenties and didn’t even realise they were a perfume shop. Their window displays at the one I went past used to be all sorts of suits on mannequins. I never realised they were not a men’s suits shop.

IDontHateRainbows · 08/12/2024 09:21

Sana Jardin sandlewood temple for me today, from the liberty beauty drop box.

Not heard much about thus brand on this thread, does anyone rate them. I have ordered the discovery set and tiger by my side.

Howmanyroses · 08/12/2024 09:35

Trying Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit today, it totally seemed like something I would like and its a very nice fragrance, but something in it just doesn't completely gel with me. Can't put my finger on it, maybe it's the actual ginger spice.... It just highlights that buying blindly based on notes doesn't always work

hughiedoesntfight · 08/12/2024 11:54

Lush turmeric latte today. Me and DS had our first proper fragrance shopping trip yesterday. He has always just worn what people have bought him. But he wanted to pick his own. I got a small turmeric latte.

We tried a load. I spritzed some ‘death and decay’ on. I loved it. However, they don’t do small bottles of it, which is a shame. £100 for a lush perfume seems a lot.

Weirdly I tried the lush perfumes in a different store and thought they were a bit rubbish. When we tried them at this store yesterday, you could smell them all.

Also got confirmation that orris is what makes me ill. Also makes ds ill. I could smell it as soon as he spritzed the card with Alina. Both of us could smell it and when I checked it was listed. So at least I definitely know what to avoid it. It smells death to me.

I have seen a few people talking about the brand on TikTok. The one from the beauty drop wasn’t for me but dd loved it.

Notsosecrethistory · 08/12/2024 13:08

@AprilLady I love it on a tester strip, but on my skin it smells like scented nappy bags. Not what I'm after. I've got a cold though, so I will give it another chance in a few days...

@IDontHateRainbows I love sandalwood temple, but it doesn't last very well, which is a major downside for me. Tiger by her side is great - a bit like Coromandel, if you've tried that. Not a dupe, but a close cousin. I also quite like Vanilla Nomad, but it's very benzoin forward on my skin.

SOTD - dunno yet, going out for dinner. I might dig out Tiger by Her Side!

fivebyfivebuffy · 08/12/2024 13:29

Ginger biscuit for me today

I'm eyeing up lush Chelsea morning, anyone tried it? I blind buy 95% of my scents and this seems like one I'll love!

No scent today for me but I've had both ianthe oud and hera reigns delivered today from LBTY so excited to test these two. I love wild rosinda from the range but totally hated maze so will see how these fare.. both seem to have scent profiles that appeal, on paper anyway.
