General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread 2024

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads (though also happy for contents of those to be shared here too).

Carrying on the traditional from previous years, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - Degusta, jam, escape room anyone?

I know there are mixed feelings on this, but many of us would really appreciate it if spoilers are not posted before 7am on the relevant day. Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

Posting pictures of contents is also always much appreciated.

I’ll be opening the Space NK and Harrods calendars this year. Really looking forward to Day 1 tomorrow.

Look fantastic today was an aveeno daily moisturising body lotion in a 100ml. Not the most exciting however I use it to help with my son's eczema so it will definitely get used up.

ASOS the glow hub facial serum in a 30ml which I quite like the look of.

Grüum it's a lavender and neroli moisture massage bar.

I like the sound of this. It's got a bit of an odd smell. It smells more like honey than either lavender or neroli.

Day 12:

Cult Beauty (non-scent):

Gisou Honey Infused Hair Oil mini (20ml) (£19)

Feel a bit 'meh' about this. Another hair product, the second day in a row. Maybe it's building up to something really 'wow'.

Bird and Blend Tea:

Strawberry Lemonade. Am drinking this now and really like it (am partial to a fruit tea though!). Lovely flavour, so I'm happy with this today!

Day 12 Jo Malone - Myrrh & Tonka cologne intense. I love this one! I'll have to compare it to my favourite vanilla perfumes to decide whether it warrants buying a bottle.

As promised. Day one of Liberty Jewellery 12 day advent and Charlotte Tilbury 12 day advent.

Liberty is V by Laura Vann coco drop pearl earrings. They are so tiny and delicate so I didn't take them out, but they are smaller than expected so will probably wear on occasion.

Charlotte tilbury is pillow talk lipstick, I think it is a miniature size.

Bath salts in Fortnums and DoD - I’ve too many of these Margaret Dabbs creams.

Brown Thomas had Bobby Brown lipgloss in nude, not bad at all.

Today's Rituals is a full size hand cream. I like their hand creams but still have one I've been valiantly trying to finish knowing I'd get one in the AC. They seem to go on forever.

Day 12 from TreatBox is a bath bomb. On the back it says festive aroma, presumably gingerbread going by the design. Actually the first ever bath bomb I've tried in my life!

Just went upstairs to check had I opened the wrong day 😁.

What did you get? I'll have forgotten what the iis if I get it on a different day.

It's lovely! It's quite similar on me to Sol de Janeiro's Dellcia but softer and more subtle. I've been wearing one on each wrist today and I think I slightly prefer the Jo Malone.

@OchonAgusOchonOh it was a sleep mist - smells nice but I am getting a bit fed up of all the bottles looking the same - I knew they would but it doesn’t shout excitement

Yes, I agree. The contents is actually quite varied but they all look the same so it doesn't feel very varied.

Evening all, yesterday’s old Ritual was a candle, and the Shiseido was actually pretty good - 30ml skin cream, (better than the previous cream, which was 5ml!)

Bit of a disappointing day today. Old Rituals was a scrub glove, (I have lots already and never use them). Shiseido was a small bottle of skin softener. DH’s refilled door was a couple of mini MB shower gels.

Paxton &Whitfield was a cave aged cheddar - very good. The next box arrives tomorrow so we will be absolutely drowning in cheese!

Harrods Day 13 - Dermalogica Multi Active Toner - Spritz - 50ml (Travel Size) - RRP£14

I like the idea of these but then never end up using them. Nice size to keep in bag so might be useful to tote around in summer. So-so for me today.

@HollyGolightly4 - I have and like using it. I have dry skin and it doesn't leave it feeling tight and horrible. One of my favourite cleansers.
