General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread 2024

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads (though also happy for contents of those to be shared here too).

Carrying on the traditional from previous years, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - Degusta, jam, escape room anyone?

I know there are mixed feelings on this, but many of us would really appreciate it if spoilers are not posted before 7am on the relevant day. Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

Posting pictures of contents is also always much appreciated.

I’ll be opening the Space NK and Harrods calendars this year. Really looking forward to Day 1 tomorrow.

Space NK looks amazing so far! It was a toss up between that and Harrods. Wondering if I made the right choice...

I seem to remember there were more skincare things in Harrods, which is why I went for it. Loving it anyway! But Space NK a contender for next year for sure.

The Elemis oil will be lovely. I had their rose one before and adored it. I use a facial oil most nights after my moisturiser.

If anyone is interested I've ended up with three advents, my waifs and strays are Charlotte Tilbury and Liberty Jewellery Advents if anyone wants to see the contents? They are both 12 days.

@psuedocream3 I'd definitely be interested! I'm loving everyone's calendars! This thread is so much more fun than the single open one last year because not as many people had vogue. Today's offering for me was this. Pleasantly surprised by the colour!

Day 11 on TreatBox is another pair of socks. I do really like these - robins in santa hats! But two pairs of socks is my limit so I'm hoping there are no more (day 1 was also socks).

Rituals today was a shea butter and eucalyptus lip balm in a very fancy pop up case. It's quite nice, I don't tend to use stick balms but it will get used. It's worth £13.90. Would have preferred one of the tinted ones they do but I guess clear is more universal for an AC.

Comté in today’s Paxton & Whitfield. One of my favourites and this is a very good example.

I agree with all the love for H&B, they’ve done really well this year so far.

Harrods - Elemis pro collagen marine face oil as mentioned. above. I feel as if I ought to have tried this before- but can't remember doing so.

Good brand so happy to try.

Degustabox: tube of Pringles!

Degustabox is sounding quite disappointing this year...

The Pringles are a very spicy sour cream flavour which was new to us and went down well in our house.

I've bought Degusta box for £22.50 so will join in when it arrives. Had it a few years ago and remember it being huge !

Rodial blush drops in apricot and a little glass highlighter in Harrods today. Don’t think I will use either of these so not an exciting drawer for me

It's a little can of cappuccino in Degustabox today that DS has already necked and pronounced "alright". 🙄

Day 12:

SpaceNK: Full size Naterium Vitamin C serum. Not a brand I’ve used before, and reasonably priced, so very happy to try this as a regular Vit C serum user.

Harrods: Very similar to the Space NK drawer from a few days ago. The same Rodial mini Highlighter in Champagne Glow and a blusher, this time the Rodial blush drops in Apricot Sorbet. This is a more peachy shade than I’d normally use, so not sure about it.

F&M tea: Christmas black tea.

Full size Glow Hub serum in ASOS today, looks good!

Ooh I think I’d love the rodial blush and highlighter. It’s pretty much all I use now, really love the Francesca Bridgerton look. I’d be interested to hear what it’s like to use

Day 12 Boots unlimited: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Styling Wax. Something I would once have scorned but with increasingly unruly brows might now see a use for!

Penhaligons is a teeny Quercus bottle. Another favourite scent for me so a little sad it’s in the smaller size of two fragrance formats in the calendar. But happy to have it.

Harrods Day 12 - Rodial liquid blush and highlighter as mentioned above. Nice to get some makeup items.

Don't think I'll use these as can't really see them fitting into my makeup routine - but will give them a try.
