Three quarter sleeved jumpers - why?

Occasionally I see these and I'm always baffled, who wants to be cold, or have something that bunches up when you wear a coat.

Me 😌

SnuffleTruffleHound · 01/11/2024 18:56

Not a jumper but I always bought my daughter 3/4 length white shirts for school, more coverage than short sleeved but full length not getting covered in pen/grime/lunch.
i still hate m&s for discontinuing them

ButtSurgery · 01/11/2024 18:56

Me. I hate things at my wrists. Drives me nuts.

3/4 FTW.

Awumminnscotland · 01/11/2024 18:56

Those who want to cover up their upper arms. I love a 3/4 sleeve.

DogwoodTree · 01/11/2024 18:58

Me! The proportions suit me and also I hate having things flapping on my wrists.

greenbirds · 01/11/2024 18:58

I love 3/4 sleeves. Covers up my arms without anything annoying round my wrists!

IchiNiSanShiGo · 01/11/2024 18:59

3/4 is everything I look for in a jumper / T-shirt / dress. I LOATHE having anything around my wrists. Also cannot bear a full collar / polo neck on a shirt, it makes me incredibly stressed.

SpoonHeader · 01/11/2024 19:00

Petite women.

SettlerOfDivan · 01/11/2024 19:00

I've got short arms so they are mostly wrist length on me.

CastlesinSpain · 01/11/2024 19:00

I like them - you don't have to roll up your sleeves to do the washing up.

PaperRemote · 01/11/2024 19:01

I was told that they are designed to be flattering - the wrist is often the thinnest part of someone's body.

I hate them - neither use nor ornament.

deeahgwitch · 01/11/2024 19:01

I loathe 3/4 length sleeves in autumn, winter and early spring.
If my wrists are cold I'm cold.

StarSlinger · 01/11/2024 19:01

I have long arms so full sleeves rarely fit, I tend to push sleeves up, so 3/4 sleeves are better for my Orangutan length arms.

evtheria · 01/11/2024 19:01

Also me, I push up my sleeves. At the elbow, or thereabouts, just feels right.

OnlyWhenILaugh · 01/11/2024 19:02

Me. Hate the feeling of sleeves down to my wrists. I'm forever pushing them back.

This! I hate running the sleeves on my jumpers as I have to push them up to wash the dishes! 😅

TheLeadbetterLife · 01/11/2024 19:03

I don't mind the sleeve length (I normally have my sleeves pushed or rolled up to 3/4 anyway), but the style of these jumpers is usually a bit bland.

A couple of years ago there were a few knitted maxi dresses around, that looked beautiful, but were turtle-necked and sleeveless. The combination of cold arms and a hot neck was not for me. I can't imagine who could comfortably wear them, but they did look fab.

SuperSange · 01/11/2024 19:03

I love them. They don't get in the way at work and I have short arms anyhow, so it's all good.

Gettingtoooldfforthis · 01/11/2024 19:04

Me. I actively look for them!

Duckyfondant · 01/11/2024 19:06

Where have you seen them lately? I prefer them and haven't seen any for ages!

clary · 01/11/2024 19:06

Yeh I love a 3/4 sleeve. Like others, I hate having to push them out of the way. Rarely so rarely do i wear a full length sleeve apart from a hoody I guess, and that's only when I am very cold.

A cardi tho - 3/4 sleeve means it sits nicely under my coat, the cuffs don't get in the way when I am on a keyboard (which I am all day) and they also don’t get grubby. My most recent cardi purchase is full length sleeves and I really don’t like it.

3/4sleeve winter dress too, deffo the way forward.

I rarely wear a jumper (in fact I don’t have any) but would feel the same way if I did.

FeralNun · 01/11/2024 19:06

They are flattering and less irritating to wear.

Yes, this!

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 01/11/2024 19:09

I always buy 3/4 - more flattering, suit me, and sit nicely with other things like coats.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 01/11/2024 19:22

I think they're great. I'm a bit indecisive, myself, so when it comes to long sleeves or short sleeves, I am caught in the middle, and so the three-quarter sleeve is ideal as a compromise.

Or is it, I now ask myself?

Perhaps it shows a 'wishy-washy' approach to life when what I want to display is a strong, forceful and robust face. What does everybody else think I should do?
