Three quarter sleeved jumpers - why?

Occasionally I see these and I'm always baffled, who wants to be cold, or have something that bunches up when you wear a coat.

I like them. I have short legs and short arms compared with the length of my torso. I usually have to roll up the sleeves on jumpers so 3/4 length are brilliant.

Towerofsong · 02/11/2024 20:05

I like them, my lower arms don't often get cold, only my upper arms.

And wrist length sleeves get wet every time I wash my hands - I usually only remember to push them up once my hands are already wet 🤦🏻.

I've never tried doing the washing up in the bathroom. Ugh!
Where do you drain the dishes?

😀

OMG, I love those!!!
I’m really tired and I can’t think, if I’m a size 14 on top, what size do I need, can someone tell me, please?

I don't know if they size up but, going by their own guide, you need size 40 to fit.

Don't your wrists get cold in winter? I have long arms and need to have my wrists covered to feel warm.

In winter if I’m outside I’ll be wearing a coat. If I’m indoors, it’s usually a decent temperature, especially at work.

There are times at work when I've been in long-sleeved shirts over armwarmers, legwarmers under my trousers, hands and feet still cold, but torso too warm for a jumper.

The idea of insulating my torso with a gilet, short-sleeved jacket, short-sleeved jumper etc whilst leaving my arms bare just does not compute.

Thank you so much! That’s what I thought it says, but it’s a weird size, not European definitely not been a 40 in a while. Thank you for taking the time, I’ll order a couple now. They’re what looks best on me

I love 3/4 length sleeves on tops, tees and dresses. But if I'm wearing a jumper it's for warmth, so I want at least a full sleeve. I have some oversized for the purpose of an even longer sleeve as I like to fold my hands into my sleeves (like an old fashion muff/muffler) when I'm sitting.

MarginalNotes · 03/11/2024 08:33

I've always regarded them as a literal cut in costs for the manufacturer which they sneakily market as fashion. Every time I see the term 'bracelet length' on a woolly jumper I think pah, bracelets don't keep my wrists warm and you just saved 15% on fabric.

I've got arms like a gibbon so I may be biased.

Onelifeonly · 03/11/2024 08:34

I like them, think they quite often look more stylish than either short or long sleeves. Also I get hot easily and am always pushing / rolling up long sleeves, so they are good for cool, but not cold, weather. They can be annoying with a cardigan or jacket that has tightish sleeves when they get rucked up, but there are ways to avoid that.

@MarginalNotes , that's why so many dresses are sleeveless.
