Three quarter sleeved jumpers - why?

Occasionally I see these and I'm always baffled, who wants to be cold, or have something that bunches up when you wear a coat.

I’ve often wondered this - hate having cold wrists so never saw the point of half-mast sleeves that look like the jumper has shrunk unevenly in the wash.

vickylou78 · 01/11/2024 19:34

For me they are great for cooking, doing housework etc. as don't have too keep pushing up the sleeves. One of my pet hates is a jumper with full sleeves with tight cuffs that are really hard to push up so it's constantly getting wet and grimy when doing the washing up or even washing hands!

3/4 sleeve jumpers are nearly as ridiculous as 3/4 sleeve COATS.
That was a trend in the noughties, I think.

LadyGabriella · 01/11/2024 19:35

Also, sleeveless cardigans? Saw one in M&S once.

I much prefer them to long sleeved

More flattering and less annoying

Exactly!
I actually get stressed watching contestants on cooking programmes that cook with long sleeves or worse still jackets on 🤣

gingercat02 · 01/11/2024 19:56

I like them. Too cold for a t shirt, too warm for a jumper. Perfect for Autumn. I think they look good too, a little bit classy.

Eve · 01/11/2024 20:00

Hate long sleeves, cannot abide sleeves round my wrists.

roll neck or v neck jumpers with short / 3/4 sleeve jumpers are my holy grail.

Me 😌

Also me.

I love 3/4 jumpers/shirts etc.

Comefromaway · 01/11/2024 20:04

Short people like me. The arms on most jumpers are too long for me.

SuperGinger · 01/11/2024 20:06

Amazing there is such love, I've never had a problem with long sleeves getting in the way

I hate cropped trousers and 3/4 sleeves. Reminds me of when I was a child and had a growth spurt!

Me, full length sleeves are never exactly the right length and they are constantly in the way so mine are all permanently pushed up which ends up stretching them till they won't stay up. Coats are the only thing I wear with a full length sleeve.

pictoosh · 01/11/2024 20:24

Like another poster I'm always pushing long sleeves away from my wrist so three quarter length sleeves are perfect.

LunaNorth · 01/11/2024 20:26

Me. Anything with full-length sleeves gets pushed up/rolled up.

I can’t stand things around my wrists, can’t stand wet cuffs from handwashing.

Garlicpest · 01/11/2024 20:29

I like them too. But I also like the long, flappy 'feature' sleeves around at the moment - so I've bought some sleeve retainers. My Dad used to wear them with his work shirts 😄 He didn't have a floaty sleeve problem but, for me, I get the best of both worlds!

LikeTalkingToLassie · 01/11/2024 20:33

I avoid them and cropped trousers.

AsCoolAsKimDeal · 01/11/2024 20:54

I love a 3/4 sleeve. And a 7/8 trouser.

ellyeth · 01/11/2024 20:58

I am only 4 foot 11 and usually the sleeves on jumpers are far too long for me. That is why I much prefer three quarter length sleeves.

minisomum · 01/11/2024 20:58

I love them. I’m the opposite of the posters who don’t like the idea of having cold
wrists - I like having a cool wrist and the rest of me being warm!

Plus I find them really flattering. My holy grail is a boat neck with a 3/4 sleeve.

socialdilemmawhattodo · 01/11/2024 20:59

I hate 3/4 sleeve particularly for t-shirt. Inevitably bunches up under a cardi/jumper/coat. I'm either tugging down or trying to push up. Either short sleeve so a definite sleeve or long sleeve. If its any comfort my mum thinks I'm odd too!

Someone mentioned the cashmere fingerless gloves - again something else often promoted on here that I didnt get on with at all. (And neither did my mum nor my lovely cashmere-loving friend).

Fleximama · 01/11/2024 21:00

They're very flattering if you have big boobs - shifts the eye away from the bust and down to the waist.

SnapdragonToadflax · 01/11/2024 21:00

Love them! And can never find them at the moment. I always push my sleeves back but don't necessarily want short sleeves, especially in a jumper. Can't stand things around my wrists unless it's freezing.

LadeOde · 01/11/2024 21:00

I hate 3/4 length jumpers. Just do a proper long sleeve and I'm petite which means you end up looking like a small child with an old face.
