Does anyone wear foundation any more

I wear Maybelline coverage and have a couple of combination all in one skin brighter things which I rarely use.

Generally i moisturise
Put eye cream on
Concealer
Powder
Mascara sometimes top lashes black
Eyeliner bottom under lashes
Sometimes lipstick natural colour

Occasionally more makeup but not always as keen on look now.
I'm middle aged
When younger I rarely went out without but now I don't think it always looks better.

A few times I have been tempted to throw makeup away but don't.

What is everyone else doing in these fifties or any age for that matter

Mid 40s. Full foundation doesn't quite sit right, even for a night out. I look too done up. I use CC cream and one pump of foundation mixed in and that seems to be the right consistency for look I am comfortable with.

shuffleofftobuffalo · 04/10/2024 07:19

40s too. I wear foundation sometimes but very light, and these days more favour spot covering with a Jones Road Beauty pencil.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 04/10/2024 07:20

Mid sixties. Can't remember the last time I wore full foundation. I used to wear a tinted primer but have gone onto Laura Geller baked powder foundation. Subtle, doesn't cake and gives that no make up make up look. Have got trinnys self adjusting tinted moisturiser but it's too expensive for every day and i don't like the smell.

UmbrellaEllaEllaElla · 04/10/2024 07:22

No I don't. Was advised by a Dermatologist not to as its bad for the skin.

RampantIvy · 04/10/2024 07:22

Mid 60s here. I wear tinted moisturiser. I ditched the foundation years ago. At my age less is more.

SensibleSigma · 04/10/2024 07:23

Mid 50s, similar to you, but bold lipstick and coloured liners. I only wore full face for special occasions as my skin was good anyway.

I do have that baked powder foundation I use when I want a bit more. It’s like a veil- just lightly softens the details!

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 04/10/2024 07:23

I wear Elf Liquid Glow on cheeks forehead and chin and then use a stick foundation kind of as a concealer here and there. I need something better for dark circles under my eyes though and haven't found anything that really works.

VictoryOrDeath · 04/10/2024 07:24

Eye cream, moisturiser, mascara.

My skin has improved a lot since I stopped using foundation, and I don't think I really like the look anyway.

I sometimes wonder about something light, then I remember that I CBA.

merrymelodies · 04/10/2024 07:28

I'm 60 and I don't go out in public without foundation. It's fairly light, though.

Comedycook · 04/10/2024 07:30

Mid forties and I find heavy foundation now ages me. I'm currently using the Maybelline 4 in 1 perfector glow. It's very light and moisturising...a dewy look. I don't wear it every day though. Sometimes I just do under eye concealer, mascara and eyebrow gel

Hi from the friends I have all similar ages to you this amount of make up would be unusual. I used to love make up in my twenties and thirties but I barely wear any anymore. Maybe a bit of mascara and blusher and a low key lip. I have foundation and tinted moisturiser- just virtually never wear it. You may look amazing though and feel great and I could probably do with upping my game ! 😬

dudsville · 04/10/2024 07:44

Mid 50s here, but with additional rosacea, which might make a difference. I still wear foundation but the product and what less beneath it has changed. It goes on after a balm cleanse, swipe of glycolic niacinamide and hyaluronic acid serums, then a balm moisturiser, then EL futurist hydra rescue. Its a great foundation such that i don't mind wearing it all the time!

Tereseta · 04/10/2024 07:44

Wear daily full coverage foundation in mid 40s. I have very red complexion though and like to cover this.

StMarieforme · 04/10/2024 07:45
  1. I do, but I use the one from Poundland as it's good coverage but light. I like the look. I don't wear it every day but absolutely feel better with it!
Bananamanlovesyou · 04/10/2024 07:59

I’ve gone the other way. I’ve never worn make up throughout my entire life. Now mid forties I just felt I looked very tired (I don’t sleep very well) and after a bit of experimentation I settled on Nivea tinted moisturiser, concealer and some light eye shadow and I’m pleasantly surprised at the difference it makes!

ExquisiteIyDecorated · 04/10/2024 08:03

Mid 50s and haven’t worn it for years, only tinted moisturiser and even that feels a bit much for every day so it only tends to be for dress up occasions. I use brow products, concealer, mascara and a light shimmery eyeshadow stick (lids only) and occasionally a bit of sheer lipstick (when I remember, I tend to put it on and then forget to take it out with me so once it wears off it’s gone).

StormingNorman · 04/10/2024 08:07

Full coverage has never suited me. I wear tinted moisturiser and if I need to be more ‘done’ I find a sweep of loose powder does enough.

I rarely wear make-up but when I do it’s the TM, blusher, tinted lip balm and mascara. Eye shadow only happens when I’m going out out.

AngelinaFibres · 04/10/2024 08:21

I watched videos on tik tok on make up for the over 40s ( I'm 59). I have hyperpigmentation and sun spots and my skin looks better with make up. I use SpaceNK foundation. It's very light and evens out my skin. I watched videos on eye make up for hooded eyes and changed what I did when I was younger. I love how it looks. Makes me feel that I still exist. If I look like I care about me ,then other people ( in the outside world) will treat me with respect .

FeralNun · 04/10/2024 08:30

56 here. I definitely wear less make up nowadays.
I have rosacea too, so tend to use tinted moisturiser all over, then some foundation just where it’s needed. Tidy brows, maybe a dab of cream blusher.
Going out, fill in brows a bit, bit of eyeliner, mascara if lashes aren’t tinted. Definitely blush.
I’ve found that it’s more about filling in the gaps, so to speak (especially brows) and ‘lifting’ the face, rather than lots of colour.
I do still like a bit of glitter for a party, though!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 04/10/2024 08:42

Just turned 50 and day to day I just wear cc cream as I largely work from home. If I have important calls or in person meetings I'll have a light dusting of Laura Geller baked foundation over it and mascara.
For a night out I'll use a lightweight foundation sparingly, Estee Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue is my go to with mascara and eyeliner. Lipstick is for very formal events only!
I've always been rubbish at applying eyeshadow, blusher etc and as I've got older it just sits terribly on my skin so I've given up.

weareallcats · 04/10/2024 08:49

I am heading into mid 40’s and wear several very thin layers of glowy/dewy stuff - anything matte or powdery seems to make me look older. After all my skincare bits I use:

Clinique city block spf

Elemis superfood primer/moisturise with a dab of Drunk Elephant goldie drops to warm it up.

Either NARS light reflecting foundation or Trinny London BFF tinted serum.

I only ever use liquid blush and cream eyeshadow now too - anything powdery seems to emphasise the smile lines around my eyes.

I also find that I prefer more natural eye makeup (used to wear a lot more) but am enjoying wearing lipstick more than I used to.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/10/2024 08:55

I wear foundation, blusher, mascara and lipstick or a lip oil. Sometimes an eyeliner and a neutral eyeshadow. 50+

Ponks · 04/10/2024 08:55

Mid 50s. When going in to the office I wear foundation (no 7 Hydraluminous) which looks great at the beginning of the day and evens out my skin but in the afternoon my face seems to have sucked all the moisture out and it can look patchy.
I wear a lot less makeup these days but would like to find something to make my skin look even and healthy without the patchiness.

SunsetSkylane · 04/10/2024 08:58

Always! My skin looks shit without it. Plus I prefer the look of 'yes I'm wearing make up' to the natural look.
