We still have 2 months to go so there's still time for dilemmas, decisions and discounts.

We have a few coming out this week including John Lewis, OK and No7. I'm still WAC (without advent calendar) but that may soon change!

There’s a Le Labo discovery set here for £105, and Liberty currently have a £100 off every £300. https://www.libertylondon.com/uk/le-lab-discovery-gift-set-000826080.html @MiaN please start an S&B fragrance thread, you really seem to know your stuff! I got the Liberty Fragrance kit this year and am enjoying it. Love the Thameen Bravi, so I think I’d like the Peregrina too @QueefofSheena

Thanks everyone who replied in regards to Diptyque! At least I know if I do buy it now I won't see it for cheaper in the future 😅

trying29 · 12/10/2024 19:31

re diptyque, they had last years calendar at Bicester before. You could see if they still stocked it?

JudgeBurrito · 12/10/2024 19:37

Well I've just opened my whole Space NK calendar and I have to say, it's a thing of beauty! Despite analysing the contents and sizes in advance I was still pleasantly surprised by them. The make-up colours all look useable and flattering. I was impressed how many drawers had multiple items in. There's only two products I'm considering sticking on Vinted, the AB serum and the Paula's Choice BHA.

IlovePond · 12/10/2024 19:38

Ooh, I might be going to Bicester next Friday - if so, I’ll report back!

I'm in Ireland so unfortunately Bicester village isn't an option for me, but that might help someone else! 🤞

Trip to the French Pharmacy:

I went today. I would say it's more functional than luxurious but has a wide range of brands and an impressive array of testers for each brand. I've attached photos to see the shelves and just how many products were marked as testers. The staff were helpful but not pushy so I felt fine browsing aimlessly and trying a few things.

London has some really big Boots branches which stock some of these brands but don't have testers. There are other independent pharmacies and shops eg there is at least one Caudalie shop which stock some of these brands but finding them all in one place with so many testers is what sets the French Pharmacy apart.

For a beauty outing it's round the corner from a Dyptique and a Space NK plus a White Company and several cafes. Not too far from Liberty either (my perfume heaven)

I really don't know whether to buy a calender for my mum as she's been ill for sometime and I think opening something each day in December may help.

Not sure which to buy. H&B and Look Fantastic look good but the box looks very large! Anthropology looks nice but all the comments I've read say it's a bit lacking. Really not sure.

IlovePond · 12/10/2024 20:43

Thanks gif the pics @Choux - it looks nice. Did they have the calendar in stock?

@DaemonMoon - if your mum likes natural products, she might prefer H&B over LF. But if she likes make up/perfume, then LF or even ASOS might be a better option.

I came across the Typology calendar the other day. I quite liked the look of it and it's designed with compactness in mind. It is one brand though which might not be what you're looking for.

Thank you @Choux, appreciate your dedication to the cause!

Another fragment day out feels like it may be in my future.

I was in Covent Garden last week and it was scent heaven, Perfume de Marly, Creed, Penhaligon's, Diptique, Jo Malone... I was overwhelmed! Actually ended up buying Rituals Ciel Rouge and a body cream from their new Alchemy collection (Amber and Myrrh, so feeling Christmassy already).

So many things to smell, so little time!!

Monpetitchoumonpetitepois · 12/10/2024 21:46

This is a tad off topic but as there's been some fragrance knowledge mentioned, I wonder if anyone knows of a perfume similar to lancome miracle so magic? It was discontinued a while ago

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 12/10/2024 21:47

My LiB Stylist came today. It weighs a ton and I confess I’ve peeped into all the boxes but I’ll have forgotten them by December. I’m so pleased with it. Almost all full-size products, all of which I’ll use. I also got money off with a code, I think it was £20. All in all, a brilliant buy.

DaemonMoon · 12/10/2024 21:55

I've bought a fillable one from etsy and will make it up with a mix of makeup, beauty, craft etc.

I was in Covent Garden today looking at perfume but visited completely different stores. I went to Le Labo, Miller Harris and Byredo.

I had a lovely time in Miller Harris. I wanted the discovery set but the Monmouth branch didn't have any left. They checked the other store and they did have it. I went and got it for half price - the sale on it has ended online but they were still giving the discount in store. And then they give me another seven 2ml samples as well so I got 30ml total of 14 different scents (he gave me two samples of one I mentioned I liked) for £15. And I didn't even tell him it was my birthday next week and I wanted the set to see if I wanted to get a full bottle of one of them as a gift. And I should get a £30 voucher by email to redeem against a full bottle.

IlovePond · 12/10/2024 22:24

That’s brilliant @choux.

Thelifeofawife · 12/10/2024 22:30

@JudgeBurrito I am very happy with the Space NK as well, I was pleasantly surprised with the sizes. Although I’ve stuck a few products on Vinted because I also bought the JL calendar, so am doing a mix & match of all the products I want. I’d love to keep them all but have to be sensible and think about what I’ll definitely use

Branster · 12/10/2024 23:54

John Bell & Croyden is another nice pharmacy not far from The French Pharmacy.

TriciaMcMillan · 13/10/2024 06:57

@Choux amazing! Sounds like another trip to Covent Garden may also be in order 😉

welshgirl666 · 13/10/2024 08:17

I'm a bit late to this thread! Lol! What's everyone's thoughts on the lookfantastic advent calendar? And is there any way to get it cheaper than £100?

QueefofSheena · 13/10/2024 09:15

Perfume Shop Advent Calendar I think this is nicer than the Fragrance Shop and a bit cheaper too iirc.

Thanks for the link. Agree, have ordered. Some decent size samples in there.

That sounds like a lovely idea. 🙂

QueefofSheena · 13/10/2024 10:02

@IDontHateRainbows I’m dithering over ordering it. The ones I won’t use are ideal stocking fillers and there’s a good sized NR that I want to try. The box looks very useable too. I still use a previous AC box from them for make up storage and it’s holding up well.

MrsBnow12 · 13/10/2024 11:07

@IDontHateRainbows @MiaN Do you know if the Perfume Shop one has any male/unisex included as well? I am clueless with fragrances 😂
