Joining late and after I've already bought Liberty and Look Fantastic. Have now read all three threads and want more! This is terrible. I've also just seen that ASOS are offering 30% off their calendar already! For £66, I could be tempted. Any thoughts?

The ASOS one looks fantastic for the number of cruelty free products. I might have to get that one!

FredaFox · 15/09/2024 09:37

I've only seen 22% off, had a look and even with 33% I'm not sure
Maybe with a higher discount (I think I've changed 😂 a year or so ago I'd have bought it for November!)

That's odd, in the app it's offering 30% off with code 'fab'. Hadn't even occured to me to do November! Genius.

Tigerlilyxx · 15/09/2024 10:02

Any look fantastic codes?

It’s roughly 50 x 45 x 20cms and quite heavy. TBH I wouldn’t be thrilled if somebody asked me to pick one up for them and I wasn’t travelling by car. Presumably there’s a good chance there would be public transport involved for a journey to Harrods.

Thank you for the dimensions. They would have a car and would be local, and I know they wouldn’t mind me asking, I’m just not sure what it’s like for parking around there so if it’s big and heavy even a short walk might be a bit much.

I did email customer services and got an email from them this morning saying they endeavour to respond within 48 hours…even though it’ll be 48 hours later today 😅 feels like their customer service hasn’t upped its game since the fragrance calendar fiasco

Well, now I feel I have an ethical imperative!

IlovePond · 15/09/2024 10:32

@bizzey - the first time I bought an H&B calendar I came across the last one in a shop - having not known they existed - in late October/early November! However, the last couple of years they have flown off the shelves and this year’s, imo, is better than last year’s. Obviously no guarantee, but my advice would be, if you really, really want it, is to get it now - if you can.

IlovePond · 15/09/2024 10:42

I think the ASOS is pretty good, but both influencer unboxing videos on YouTube have contained products with evidence of ‘problems’ at packing stage.

Reading the video comments, it seems some people irl have experienced similar problems. This is a possible H&S issue, (apart from the waste of money/disappointment). I couldn’t believe that one YTer still put the CT product on, when it had clearly been used - just yuk!

I think this bad publicity has probably affected sales, hence the reduction.

I do still quite fancy it, but I would put any tampered products straight in the bin, (with probably the rest to follow - but I am a bit paranoid about this sort of thing!)

Has anyone on here bought an ASOS calendar this year - if so, was it ok?

In the meantime, I hope ASOS have sorted out any possible issues.

What's H&B that I keep reading? I've been wracking my brains and can't crack it...

Bangs head... of course it is! Thanks TriciaMcMilan. I'm rubbish at crosswords too.

Glad it’s not just me! I’m new to the advent threads this year, and for most of the posts I thought LiB was referring to the Liberty calendar, took me ages to crack that one 😅

Growlybear83 · 15/09/2024 11:57

@Thelifeofawife The beauty calendar is quite heavy, but I carried two fragrance calendars home from Harrods last year on the tube and bus, which I think would be at least as heavy as the beauty calendar. The carrier bags have long enough handles that you can put them over your shoulder.

Thelifeofawife · 15/09/2024 12:01

@Growlybear83 thank you for this, it’s really helpful! I’ll see what Harrods say when they respond, if I can get it delivered I will do that, but if not I may look at getting one collected - I just hope he doesn’t topple over having all the weight on one shoulder 😁

CountryCob · 15/09/2024 12:57

In case anyone would like it there is a code to get £20 off the Latest in Beauty advent which is STYLISTREADER

Tigerlilyxx · 15/09/2024 13:25

Does the code ADVENT take 20% off the advent calendar, or just other purchases? Tncs aren't clear but doesn't seem to be working

I just bought this for £76. I watched an unboxing last week from the YouTuber who had the oil spillage. Apart from that I thought it was a good box. I'm going to open immediately though to check and I plan to split some of the contents into little gift bundles.

OvaHere · 15/09/2024 13:41

I should add that's assuming everything looks sealed and okay. If it looks tampered with or damaged it will be returned.

AllTheDucks · 15/09/2024 13:43

Has the Selfridges one gone on sale yet? Just checking if I missed it. The only other one I was intereted in was Harrods and that's now out of stock.

Isn't it? I thought that too! Shock

I've popped back in not to say that I've bought another calendar (I haven't!) but that I've spotted that these sites are now on Quidco. I don't know if anyone uses that one but the % cashback is good for something you're buying anyway:

  • Ebay (that's recent)
  • Diptyque (for anything)
  • Space NK (excludes advent calendars)
  • Jo Malone (for anything, not sure about advent calendar as it's not out yet)

I've realised that I have a Liz Earle advent calendar from last year too. Goodness knows what I'm 'saving them' for? I love all beauty products and use them - I travel a lot too so these calendars would be ideal. I think I'm a bit nuts.

IlovePond · 15/09/2024 14:08

Thanks for replying @OvaHere - please do report back. I had a look on the site today and was offered a 20% discount with code FAB, (not the advertised 30% off).

It’s in my basket, but I haven’t gone any !

bizzey · 15/09/2024 14:11

@IlovePond ...thank you !
I have ordered in 😁😁...and I remembered to go through TCB as well ...so feeling smug 😁😅!

It’s Latest in Beauty.
Don’t worry, by next year we will be pros!

I use TopCashback, I used it on my Space NK calendar purchase, it didn’t occur to me that it might not work on calendars - fingers crossed it will work as I was a new customer so came up as 9% and that’s what justified me getting it despite still having my eye on the Harrods one.

For your calendar from last year, why not use it in November, or to beat the January blues

IlovePond · 15/09/2024 14:28

Good for you @bizzey ! I really need to join these cashback sites, but I confess I don’t really understand how they work 🙀

Yes I only got 20%. I guess it was up to 30% depending on the product. I suppose it is a bit early to drastically discount them.

It should be arriving mid week so I'll report back.

IlovePond · 15/09/2024 14:40

Re: ASOS discount code FAB

Which discount customers are given- up to 30% - appears to be ‘random’. I have been allocated 22%, so could get the calendar for £74.10. (This presumably explains why someone else got it for £76 - a 20% discount allocation.)
