Good for you @bizzey ! I really need to join these cashback sites, but I confess I don’t really understand how they work 🙀

It’s really straightforward, I have used TopCashback (TCB) for years. You just sign up, then whenever you want to purchase something online just go on the TCB app and search the website you want to visit (for example, Space NK), it will tell you what it is currently tracking at (for example, 2%), you just click on it and it takes you to the website you want. Once you’ve completed your purchase it will track it and the cashback will appear in your list. It shows whether it’s pending, declined or payable.
It’s really quick and easy to withdraw money from your cash pot as well.

I’ve not used Quidco but I believe the process is the same.

Re: ASOS discount code FAB

Which discount customers are given- up to 30% - appears to be ‘random’. I have been allocated 22%, so could get the calendar for £74.10. (This presumably explains why someone else got it for £76 - a 20% discount allocation.)

A bit of a weird way to do it.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 15/09/2024 15:51

Thelifeofawife, thank you, I will do that. I have a daft habit of saving things 'for best' but best should be now.

I didn't realise that cashback sites can be so varied. I've not used TopCashBack but I'll join that one as well so I can compare rates. From what you say, the different sites are working on their own rules with regard to advent calendars.

I really like this thread but I avoid Style and Beauty if I can because without fail, I follow a recommendation and buy something fabulous. I need a bigger house! Grin

Thinking I might get Body Shop for DD - it’s £55, as against £91 for the cheapest Rituals, and there’s more stuff in there that she’ll use.

That's so weird! I feel fortunate that mine gave me 30%, but baffled why they've made it variable. Never seen that before and no idea why they think it's a good idea. Surely irritates more people than not!

Does the code ADVENT take 20% off the advent calendar, or just other purchases? Tncs aren't clear but doesn't seem to be working

Sorry I don't know, I think it is likely only to be the advent as it was in the magazine itself as an advent code

Absolutely irritates me! I thought about buying it for DD but got a 20% discount so didn’t bother. Irks me that other people got more. It’s why I can’t abide the TikTok debacle too.

If the disparity is related to how much you have spent in the past, fair enough - but I’d appreciate transparency.

IlovePond · 15/09/2024 19:22

Thanks @Thelifeofawife - I will try to get onboard with these cash back sites!

@OvaHere @Addictedtobeauty and @TriciaMcMillan - it is indeed weird behaviour from ASOS but I have known them do it before. I know one time I hit the highest discount, at others not. And yes, it has annoyed me, 😹 so that, combined with the packing issues of some calendars, is convincing me to hold fire! It is a good calendar, though!

Therightcoffee · 15/09/2024 20:09

If anyone has o2 their airtime cash back thing has Elemis, boots, and Lancôme

Therightcoffee · 15/09/2024 20:10

Oh and l'occitane

CocoMascara · 15/09/2024 20:10

My Liberty calendar was delivered today. I’m a bit disappointed. It went to the wrong address, which I managed to track down, but the box was torn and had been dropped at some point so one of the corners of the calendar is squashed. Not sure whether my expectations are too high, but I expected better for a premium product.

virgocatlover · 15/09/2024 20:10

I have 30% off at asos with the FAB CODE, but I'm not sure I want the calendar even for £66. The eye palette puts me off.

The Body Shop calendar looks identical to last year's which is odd - it looks like they've just copied it exactly. Or is it old stock?

Has the Selfridges one gone on sale yet? Just checking if I missed it. The only other one I was intereted in was Harrods and that's now out of stock.

No it's not out yet.

Good question,I’ve never had it before. It definitely says 2024.

For £260 I think you can expect better than that. Email them photos.

Yes. Revolution is a bit disappointing. It put me off.

My Liberty arrived with a slightly squashed/crumpled corner. I contacted them via WhatsApp with a photo. They originally offered a 10% discount but I said I wanted a perfect box. They said they would send a new outer box but didn’t. After a few days, I contacted them again and they said it wasn’t possible but refunded me 20%.

They did this last year and rolled out the previous years old stock. Surely they can’t have done it again!

CalicoPusscat · 15/09/2024 22:19

@CocoMascara bit of a disappointment for you, hope they offer a good discount.

I really like my H&B but have decided that's it for this year, I wanted a couple of make up items though so bought Lancome le crayon brun and some blusher.

If anyone isn't keen on candles in their advents please PM!

You’ve got a good refund. I’ll message them and see what they say tomorrow. I know they can’t help what happens with delivery but there just isn’t enough packing in the box.

comeondover · 16/09/2024 00:13

This is probably not the right place to ask, but does anyone know of any lovely Advent calendars that aren't exclusively skincare and make-up? Eg useful bits and bobs, stationery, maybe food. Something that's a mix of these things.

JudgeBurrito · 16/09/2024 00:24

@comeondover Google 'luxury advent calendars'. I did and e.g. https://www.boxofhugs.co.uk/products/24-hugs-of-advent-luxury-advent-calendar?variant=45625407897882 came up

I have an almost identical palette from Revolution. I bought it from Superdrug on one of those 3 for 2 offers when I was buying other things I did want. It's okay actually. Nothing special but not terrible. I use a few of the neutrals for work. It's fine for now until I get round to buying higher quality.

CalicoPusscat · 16/09/2024 01:04

@comeondover I was looking at cult pens advent earlier and thought it looked lovely - practically all pens and pencils though ✒️📒🖍🖊✏️
