Got my stationery calendar with 15% off today and DD's Glossybox has arrived so, other than a football cards one that hasn't been released yet, I am done. But I am now prowling Vinted to see what goodies I want to snap up, and have requested a bunch of Hourglass stuff as a birthday present and the Flannels fragrance cracker for Christmas.

OvaHere · 19/09/2024 19:13

Not an advent calendar purchase but thought others might be interested in this.

I'm in need of some new make up brushes so bought this Spectrum set - their brushes look really nice. I've seen them before on social media and thought they looked good.

The set was already reduced to 19.99 from 68.97 then they have a site wide discount code SEPT20 which takes 20% off at the basket. So I paid £16 plus P&P which made it about £20.

Don't be too put off by the cutesy Disney theme if it's not your thing (it's not mine either) because the actual tools have very minimal branding once out of the boxes- bar the pouch which I may just gift.

Thought it was a pretty good deal for new brushes and some blenders.

Obviously there's other stuff on the site that the discount applies to also - there's a lovely red Emily in Paris set but that's more pricey even with the discount code.

I'd feel a bit funny buying beauty off Vinted I think, I'd be worried someone had tried it and didn't like it. I looked last night just out of curiosity. People are listing Jo Loves candles for RRP, I know they're probably expecting to be haggled down but they're being totally unrealistic. Some have been sitting for months.

I think you need to get a feel for the seller from their feedback. I genuinely don't open items that I plan to sell, but I suspect other people do.

Pricing, I go slightly under the cheapest one and things tend to sell quickly.

Cyclingmummy1 · 19/09/2024 19:29

@doubleraspberry which stationery calendar did you get? I've looked at a few 😬

IlovePond · 19/09/2024 19:32

I attempt to sell unwanted beauty advent products on eBay and I never open them. It’s easier to sell them/feel confident about buying yourself if there’s a security seal, but so many products in a/cs don’t have them. TBH, I am never very happy about that as the original purchaser!

On a sort of related note: Having sold for peanuts quite an expensive product, I got negative feedback because, and I quote: ‘It didn’t do much for my hair.’ Did she think I was the manufacturer? 🙈

Therightcoffee · 19/09/2024 19:35

That's hilarious @IlovePond ! Clearly you're space nk!

I'd recommend only to go for sealed products f you ars worried about this.

Maybe swerve things like mascara and lpgloss

Funny, they are items I don't want and always sell.

Re your feedback, if it was recent you can dispute it with eBay. I have done when given negative/neutral for nonsensical reasons and eBay has been so quick at responding to me and removing them.

IlovePond · 19/09/2024 19:46

I would have done @Housewife2010 , thanks for suggesting. Tbh, at the time I thought it was pretty funny and fortunately eBay now restore your 100% rating, if applicable, after a year.

OvaHere · 19/09/2024 19:50

I put some items for sale for the first time on Vinted today. Not beauty products - some clothes and shoes I've been meaning to sell. Had a few low offers quickly which I've declined but now wondering if I should have done. I did think I'd priced to sell but maybe not? I suppose it's only been a few hours and I'm still getting used to how it works.

Growlybear83 · 19/09/2024 19:51

If people are selling perfume on Vinted, you need to change your postage options because I believe you are only covered for compensation from Royal Mail. InPost, Yodel, and Evri won't compensate for loss or damage of perfume. If I'm selling something more expensive, I always feel safer selling on eBay and paying the fees rather than risking the scammers on Vinted.

Yes, ebay will side with seller if you can provide proof of delivery. I usually send Evri as it's the cheapest by far and tracks throughout the journey. Never heard they don't cover scent?

Absolute classic. Similarly, I once had feedback from a buyer who was annoyed that the colour of an Anthropologie jumper didn't suit her. Yes dear, it didn't suit me either, so I purposely sold it to another unsuspecting pasty skinned individual. Mwahahah.

I had someone raise a return because she didn't like the smell of a product. It wasn't off or anything, just not to her ladyships liking.

To be honest I think some people try the product, don't like it and come up with a shite excuse to get a refund.

Therightcoffee · 19/09/2024 20:13

you'll always get the odd chancer of a profess allows it. I tend to see more Vinted action on the weekend but agree it's always hard to know whether to take an offer.

You can also set up a bundle discount of 10 percent on your settings so people can get two things you're selling for 10 percent off (or more if you specify that for 3 or 4). That's quite handy.

Yes I always do multibuy.

I have sold a lot of items in tje past year and maybe had 2 or 3 chancers out of all those. 99.5% are honest in my experience. But these are well known, branded products which most buyers will have had before.

Papier. I signed up to the mailing list for the 10% off and then left it in my basket to think about. They then sent me 15% off to lure me back.

I'm tempted, but need stationery like I need a hole in the head 😆

AprilLady · 19/09/2024 20:33

@IDontHateRainbows its actually against Evri’s terms and conditions to post fragrances. Royal Mail is the only one of the services which legally allows you to send perfumes within the UK - and then you need to do so under their terms (must have original packaging and a hazard label). Provided you meet those conditions, you would be covered if something got lost by them.

meieixhw · 19/09/2024 20:39

I ordered the space nk advent calendar on Sunday and I haven't even a confirmation email.
I ordered it with a couple of other things which also haven't been delivered or confirmed 🤦‍♀️

Did you check junk? Can you see your order if you login to your account?

I ordered it on the 10th and haven't had a confirmation email! It is showing on the site as ordered though.

It's also more of a faff to use Royal Mail on Vinted, as you have to pay the postage yourself as the seller and claim it back (no pre-paid label)

After reading someone had sent a DM to Space NK this morning, I did too (via Instagram) Said I was disappointed to learn people who'd ordered after me had received them etc etc.
Would you believe it- dispatch email this evening!
Ordered 10/9 at 8.30am. Wasn't in a rush really but was worried they'd messed up and I wouldn't get one!
