This is probably not the right place to ask, but does anyone know of any lovely Advent calendars that aren't exclusively skincare and make-up? Eg useful bits and bobs, stationery, maybe food. Something that's a mix of these things.

Treatboxuk.com is another to look at as that has a mix of things.

bizzey · 16/09/2024 03:09

Smiggle do one as well .

sarabaellty237 · 16/09/2024 06:49

Jo Loves has a nice looking one, but it’s getting on for £400!

CalicoPusscat · 16/09/2024 08:25

Eeks, £400...and since I hardly know her stuff that's a no here!

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 16/09/2024 08:57

I've bought the Macmillan one for my mum and the Lynx one for my husband. The only calenders to catch my eye are the JL, Selfridges and (of course!) SpaceNK. But not enough to pay full price... yet 🤣

RainbowZebraWarrior · 16/09/2024 09:51

Has White Company been discussed? I've just had the email from them about their AC and I really fancy it.

The single brand calendars never have the same 'value' above what you pay, so that puts me off. It's a lot of money for mainly minis and scents I might not choose. Personally I don't like mini candles, I don't think they give off enough scent. I really like a lot of TWC's scents, but I find the diffuser oils much better value for money than the candles etc.

comeondover · 16/09/2024 10:16

Thanks @JudgeBurrito @CalicoPusscat @MrsBnow12 and @bizzey I'll follow up

Therightcoffee · 16/09/2024 10:39

Yeah I like TWC scents but I don't want a pomegranate candle. The calendar has sold out the last two years before the white weekend though, i was stalking it for my sister and waited too long. Both years!

It's hard to think that it's a hot ticket when I'd rather have full sized my choice candles at big discount during the white weekend...

RainbowZebraWarrior · 16/09/2024 10:58

That's a good point about TWC. I got excited when I saw the Winter full size candle and thought the fireside and fir tree ones were full size too. Just noticed the full size Pomegranet (listed last for a reason on the contents description)

I shall save my £195 to send on the particular items I like best when on offer.

Can't seem to spend my money! Just been to Boots in the hope that they had the Macmillan advent in store, but they didn't.

Doubleraspberry · 16/09/2024 11:12

I remain uncalendared for both me and my teen. Genuinely struggling to get excited. I think H&B may be the best for the teen but I was slightly hoping for something with bit more make up punch. I think I'm probably looking for something I won't get at the budget I have, and really don't want to pay loads for that one. And for me, it all feels quite meh for the prices. I feel sad about this!

RainbowZebraWarrior · 16/09/2024 12:20

I'm the same @Doubleraspberry It isn't usually this difficult. I've never known anything like it.

I guess it's like having too many TV channels and there's still nowt to watch!

Has the Selfridges one gone on sale yet? Just checking if I missed it. The only other one I was intereted in was Harrods and that's now out of stock.

Nope but you can register interest which I've done

Hoping they release in store at the same time as online - I'll be nipping up the M60 to the trafford centre as soon as they open!

BeautyMoth · 16/09/2024 14:37

The member codes work with TWC calendar. Bought one for my mum this morning. It was £165 after the 15% discount with free shipping.

ivegotthisyeah · 16/09/2024 14:59

My look fantastic one has arrived today!!
It's fab it's for me and my tween daughter to share ( would never normally spend this much on advent) really happy with it.
Need to buy my 8 yr old boy one now appropriate for him

OvaHere · 16/09/2024 14:59

I mistakenly watched an unboxing of the Space NK calendar and now I'm suffering from FOMO. I've even been through and added up the RRP of the products I would definitely like to try (£713).

I've bought 2 already though so arghh......

My DH isn't the most observant chap, bless him, but if any more giant boxes arrive he's surely going to start asking questions. It's my money so I can do what I want at the end of the day but I don't have a good answer to the question 'do you really need all these?' 😂

Your answer to this is “Do I really need you, Derek*?”

I think you should buy it but I’m a terrible influence!

CalicoPusscat · 16/09/2024 15:49

@OvaHere ooh which ones have you got?

I'm not a good influence as I have to rein in purchases for the next 2 months, so would only encourage you! Sort of doing it by proxy!

TreesinthePark · 16/09/2024 15:59

@dontbitethecat Hahaha poor Derek*!

Rituals Premium which I bought before I found these threads. Also bought the ASOS one the other day with the discount code - I plan to use quite a bit of this one for gifts though so it's not all for me.

CocoMascara · 16/09/2024 16:03

Has anyone bought the Harrods 12 day hair and body calendar? Anyone know how sturdy the box is? ie could it be used for storage afterwards? I’ve a big birthday next year, I thought I might get it to count down. Also wondering if it might get discounted…

I'm my own worst influence. I really don't need help with that from anyone else. 😂

No sorry. I've been admiring the Glossy Box calendar for the box. I think I like the box more than the contents.

OvaHere · 16/09/2024 16:08

Picture of the box. It has nice drawers.
